The Cambridge Audio CXNv2 seems like a better option, I like that there is a CD player on this Audiolab Omnia, but the lack of album artwork when there is a screen already and no Tidal connect seems a huge oversight by audiolab
There is a transfer option whereby the stream is handed off to Play-Fi. It's still poor with its speed of searches, if in transfer more you cannot browse music, tracks still expire, whatever that means, you need to pick the track multiple times. The review is correct, it's a backward step! I've suffered for a few years... time to bin Play-Fi... Thanks Audiolab.
You can browse the music library in hand off mode on the IPAD, but if you hit play on other music the music syncs back to the play fi app device - but hand off is not intended for every day listening David., just for use in certain circumstances
So.... A bizarre choice of software platform ruins an otherwise excellent product. The Chromecast audio did better than this, years ago and for very little money. I sometimes wonder how large companies make such odd decisions. Thanks for the honest review Tel.
With Qobuz, I agree with you about the lack of a grid. When you're older than dirt (like me) it's harder to read a non-grid display. Also, Play-Fi doesn't seem to support Qobuz's auto-play feature. For the casual user, the Play-Fi update is more than OK.
Hello. I apologize for the off-topic question. Acoustics ProAc Response D30R / Chord Qutest DAC / Please recommend an integrated stereo amplifier (50 W / up to 3000 $). Big thanks.
I am thinking of getting this but i like internet radio which i understand this has? Does it have that built in or does that have to work via a mobile device? thanks for the review!
I am seriously thinking of purchasing one these. Will my WIMM Pro streamer work through this all in one system? I don't have my music system close to my router and really can't have un sightly ethernet cable running to my router. I am presently using my WiMM Pro through a digital channel on my Cambridge Audio CX81 and using my iPhone to play Spotify. Just basically want to do the same. I really like the combination all in one as my CD player is pretty awful and I play a lot of cd's.
Hi there, great video! I reacently bought one and I'm very happy with it. Do you know if I can connect a subwoofer and also a shiit lokius equalizer since the Omnia only comes with one out put for preamp? if not, is it possible to find an alternative solution? thanks so much
Two things, can you add your amazon and Spotify music account to the omnia or is that still run via a phonenor tablet and also surely changing the speakers to a lower ohms with give this device more kick
A year later and I come across this video. £1599.00 you say. Well, I’m seriously considering a bundle deal I’ve come across. The Omnia plus Wharfedale Lintons and stands and spkr cable for £1730 including delivery. What a difference a year makes
Morning sir I am looking to upgrade my amp which is a Cambridge axa 35 and thinking of getting a all in one amp I do need a phono out how do you recommend this or what would you recommend please
I took it down as it was out of date already as I was talking about the play being with gaps etc. This new review is similar but with extra information in it
The M10 is a lot more money, I think sounds better especially after Dirac and has a nicer streaming experience. No CD player though or analogue headphone amplifier output.
To be honest for such great sounding gear at the prices they charge. I can't understand why they have gone with DTS Playfi. Also they don't seem to be interested in getting roon certification. This kills these products to me. So I'm Bluesound and Cambridge today
I have a problem by plugging the Omnia with a LAN cable to the router, it doesn't find connection to the internet, what would be the solution, to solve that problem?
Thanks for the review. Do you know if it's possible to play FLAC files from a hard drive connected to the USB A port ? The manual only mentions compatibility with compressed audio formats on the USB drive port, which seems like a kind of weird limitation.
It's a shame you can't plug in a hard drive and use as a CD ripper to store your files ps not sure about the looks of the Omnia as love the look of the 8000 and 6000 series
Hey guys! When I listen to a CD or watch TV with the Omnia, the network search light still flashes. Is there no way to turn this off? Thanks for your reply.
I would just like DTS play to work ! I am using all Macs I just get no input signal for a network or Bluetooth. Have I just bought an expensive cd player? I don’t give a ff about gapless audio!
You need to contact the retailer or the manufacturer about this, something is up or maybe you need to do something different. It worked ok for me as you can see in the video
@@PursuitPerfectSystem waiting for Audiolab to come back to me. I hope they are not going to come back and say your Wi-Fi is not up to it. Update I finally managed to get BT to work. The Network connection was trying to connect but dropped the signal within 5 seconds. Very frustrating!
Check the spec but pretty sure there is not any internal memory to store the music, you would have to store it on a computer or usb drive or hard drive and then stream the music from there
@@PursuitPerfectSystem Most non-Roon customers cannot distinct those two labels properly. I bet you can. And it only means that a Roon server with USB out can be connected to the USB in at the Omnia, like any other USB device.
Anything not Roon ready is dead to me. How you access your music is almost more important that some of the hardware concerns, and I would always buy a Roon ready device, will never buy a product that is not. MQA is snake oil, I'll not ever buy with that in mind and dropped tidal for their involvement. I don't see having a CD built in as a big deal. It will put off those that don't need it, but those that need it can simply add a CD unit to any other unit (my auralic will read from any usb drive and retimes the stream to its internal clock). The unit looks OK, but not for me.
... All we need now with the Audiolab amplifiers and in particular the Omnia is Bass/Treble controls!!! 👍 ...
My Omnia arrived today and sounds great with my quad Z2’s good and accurate review thanks 👍🏻

Great review 👍
Great review. Thanks for sharing.
Funnily enough I find my audiolab 6000a phono stage even better than the digital inputs! One of the best phono stages I’ve heard on an intergrated

Yes, yes and yes Larry I agree
Funny there is so much hate on the DTS PlayFi platform, been using it for years, and think it is quite stable and been sounding quite well.
We need a comparison between the AudioLab Omnia and the NAD C700

Does it decode MQA-CDs??
Good with keff speakers u think

Best to email Audiolab to check 100% but I was told you can play DSD using the SB inputs so FLAC will be fine
@@PursuitPerfectSystem Thanks !
I own it. It's not supported.

You can plug in a USB hard drive but would have to rip the music elsewhere

That stops with dts Play only happen with iPhones, with android phone no.
Connection via DTS Play Fi on Windows tablet allows stream tidal MQA?
You can stream MOA through it yes
@@PursuitPerfectSystem thx. I wonder if Omnia will sound better than the onkyo 6170 set with Cyrus one that I have.
I dont know sorry, its worth a home demo cyrus one is pretty good though already
So, to use tidal we need to have that playfi app and then open the tidal plug in?
yes

I will triple check tomorrow but 99.99% it is
Good review, not my product pursuit. So not a perfect system.

Omnia is not Roon Ready. Compared to Roon DTS playfi looks like children’s play level. What a bummer.
Its Roon tested, not Roon Ready yes
