There's something in this track that is so untouchable. The pure energy that they plug into this performance of such a simple concept of roads going everywhere- there is an almost childlike wonder of thinking they all do- balanced off with the chaos of understanding that they almost certainly don't.
I love the way these guys introduced dissonance to "new wave" music. When they played this song live it received mixed reactions from the audience. Most people couldn't get into the dark chords and Partridges donkey-like delivery. But they played it at every gig because they knew it was great.
It's more energetic, but it also doesn't have the extra vocalists in the chorus. One other detail is, this version seems to be more in E Standard Tuning. The Album Version's also in E Standard, but in 451 Hz, instead of the standard 440. That means it's tuned sharp, but it's between E and F. I just pinpointed it as well as I could.
Am I asleep Or am I fast You every race You first, you last Roads girdle the globe We all safe in your concrete robe Hail mother motor Hail piston rotor Hail wheel Roads girdle the globe Am I tied in Or do I turn Your sacred incense You tyre burn Steer me Anna Am I get there When is A, B Oil, iron, steel You holy 3
Just rehearsal. Andy said that the chords were so weird in this one that he _really_ didn't want to mess it up. And yes, the chords _are_ weird. I've seen them, and I've been working on a guitar tab (chart) to this song... Only, it's been in the works for too long. If I ever publish it, it's going to be as complete as I can get it. I think I'm dragging my feet on it, though.
That perfect bass on top of it all!

My favourite band
Oh man sounds incredible
Brutalist pop.
Best description I’ve heard of this song yet
Only a mind like Patridge could conceive such a wonderful and brutal song ...
drumming so tight on this
La perfezione ❤️
Certo, mio amico ...
Sounds even better than on the album, if possible 😍

I think it's more muddied
It does sound better as far as the performance is concerned. I love that single, ropey guitar note played in the bridge. I love this song.
