It's one of the most expensive calendars this year if you look at Price-per-Piece (in Euros) together with Spider-Man and Disney, and that's without any licensing fees! The PpP has doubled for City compared to the average between 2015 and 2021. The only explanation I can think of is that all the unique torso prints blew the budget for everything else.
Lego are a victim of their own overpricing. The bunny is £1.54 on pick a brick so probably blew the budget. They should have got one on Bricklink where they're only 30p new.
Just back from uni and started opening the backlog of Star Wars doors last night, only to find 2 super battle droid bags behind day 4. From what I hear from past years that has a chance to mean I’m missing a gift from behind another door, but if I survive all 24 days then it’s a cool little freebie, and the super battle droid is a Lego figure I’ve wanted for a long time and I’m not going to turn down an extra!
I'm in agreement with everyone on the poor lonely bunny! HP still hanging onto the lead by a thread, let's see how long it lasts, it always seems to fall at the final hurdle.
You know that these videos must be huge when the Star Wars calendar moves it's minifigure placement just score better on Jeremy's spreadsheet. And definitely not a coincidence or any other reason.
Once, and only once, a LEGO designer did comment on a video I made about a LEGO Friends set. I'd love to think the teams have side bets on whose calendar will win but I'm sure they are too busy working on new projects.
I spit spray my tea on this first door, gee wiz City a whole bunny, pfft. Smoted by a Clone Trouper, booya! Another car that doesn't roll, come on Spidey! Thank goodness we are done with the tables from Potter! I am happy they have more than a croissant and a turkey leg. The parts used for the sewing machine from Friends has some creative choices for parts. The frog princess is cute and this weekend I'm happy I don't have to give out the points!
Wow, I did not expect that from Lego City. I think Lego City took a page out of Fred and George's book and said after you opened today's door......... "Mischief Managed!" 😂😅
I think friends should have been higher. That sewing machine was lovely. The Harry Potter table is just a slightly altered repetition of previous gifts.
I think the sewing machine should have beaten the Slytherin table. I love Harry Potter too (pretty obvious from my pfp), but the sewing machine is a better build, and the table’s really just rehashing basically the same thing we’ve gotten three other times.
The only reason why the Disney Advent Calendar isn’t a Disney Princess Advent Calendar is because Mirabel Madrigal isn’t a Disney Princess technically Elsa also isn’t but she and her sister (Anna) appeared with the official 12 (at the time now it’s 13) in Ralph Breaks the Internet. As they’re “recurring princesses”
It's sad they have no confidence in Anna and have to rope her evil sister Elsa in with her, we need exactly 13 princesses that they should add Alice and Kairi.
The statement of a Star Wars blaster not being able to hit anything is only true in the hands of a stormtrooper. That is NOT the case in the hands of a clonetrooper, especially from the 501st. They are deadly accurate!
sewing machine was unique and colorful, should have been swapped with HP. We got a 4th table from HP,.bet if it was in city the table would have been ranked lower. I like HP and get that they are doing 4 of everything but for the most part its very mid tier.
A proper mixed bag today! Oh, and the rumour mill is saying that there won't be a Marvel calendar in 2025 - looking at this years tat, it's not really a surprise! 6 points - Star Wars. Maybe not the most exciting figure, but still a decent figure to include. 5 points - Not their most spectacular microdoll, but a nice gift nonetheless. 4 points - Friends. Will go down well with the target audience, nicely done model and the inclusion of the Santa hat is a really nice touch. 3 points - Harry Potter. Probably the weakest of the tables, the Acid Pops element is nice but that's about it. 2 points - Marvel. Has City to thank for not being in last today, absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever. 1 point - City. What are you doing to me City?! I can't even accuse Jeremy of bias on this one! If Friends hadn't already included this with a microdoll, it might just have beaten Marvel. Festive Bonus Point - Friends. It really was as simple as just chucking a Santa hat in! Scores - City 62, Disney 58, Harry Potter 56, Star Wars 53, Friends 51, Marvel 50
Spiderman is a mini version of 76279 (the black one was 76244), I thnk both are loosely based on the spidey and amazing friends cartoon - both pretty poor builds in the advent calendar but there is at least logic somewhere
This has been a good year to army build with the 501st clones. We had them in a couple of recent battle packs, they are in the set with Grogu and the Barc speeder, Fives comes in a set, and you have Commander Rex in a small set. I dont purposely army build, but it is nice to have group of these to set up a scene. City had one measly build in the last four days. I don't think it is quite as bad as the lone Dr. Strange cape last year, but it is a contender for being among the lowest of the bombs City has produced.
I'll give Harry potter some credit as on a whole it seems like it would give the best overall little set at the end of advent, followed by Lego friends
The City rabbit should have come with the girl instead of skies and would have made more sense. I can't believe Lego couldn't come up with one more little build to put in day 15 instead of the rabbit.
Some of your jokes are quite dark today 🫣 I have been watching your series have always enjoyed them and appreciate your detailed thoughts on the lego ingenuity, exclusivity, and craftsmanship. Your critiques used to take in to accord the demographic these sets are for, but this year not so much. They need all the pieces to make up the whole scene the calendar is going for, e.g repetitive tables for the great hall is necessary. The little pieces to differentiate is cool! (Acid pops) so to say a prop element is failing compared to a minifigure is not equal comparison. I suggest your future series consider each element category and overall each day as it feels collector biased to just love on minifigures instead of collective props, or miniature scale models (e.g. star wars ships) or demographic target. Just some ideas for future scoring. Thanks for putting these videos together! They are enjoyable!
Id be interested in seeing how well each calender would eork with sets from their respective theme. For example a lot of the harry potter stuff could fit inside a lego hogwarts castle but i dont know how much of the spidey stuff would work as add ons for yhe daily bugle
Looking at the piece counts of each advent calendar city would have really benefitted from that roughly 50 pieces that's between them and the next lowest piece-count calendar... Did the exclusive Christmas sweaters bump up the budget so much? (To be fair though, those sweaters are amazing).
to help with your disney confusion- Elsa and Anna are technically not "disney princesses" because Elsa is a queen, and Frozen was such a big movie that they made it their own franchise instead of adding it to the Disney princess franchise. Because Elsa is in this calendar, it technicallyyyy cannot be disney princess. (I know it's crazy)
I really like the sewing machine that Friends gave us! The Slytherin table is nice, at least better than City, Star Wars & Spidey's gifts today. I do not care about Tiana. She is an OC usurping the original story of the Princess & the Frog. Seriously, LEGO City, although cute, the single bunny is plain lazy. Speaking of lazy... a clone trooper, sigh. Not a fan of the Spider car either.
I'm starting to think Scrooge has got a job at Lego City. Next year we'll just got a load of single black studs and be grateful for it.
Yeah that wouldn't be very coal

Day twenty four would contain nothing, to represent the fact that Santa doesn't exist. Very educational, deserves a bonus point.
Or maybe he owns the whole company.
@brickwillstudio Actually he did, historically there used to be a Sandy Claws.
Wow a singular bunny and nothing else I’m shocked
Lego are a victim of their own overpricing. The bunny is £1.54 on pick a brick so probably blew the budget. They should have got one on Bricklink where they're only 30p new.
That's the power of corporate greed for you.
The LEGO City team need to go on the naughty list for that cheap trick.
@jeremyherbertofficial Sandy Claws has another naughty list, but he keeps that in his drawer next to his shotgun.

Welcome back and happy binging! Congrats for the extra droid. Hopefully a bonus gift!
I'm in agreement with everyone on the poor lonely bunny! HP still hanging onto the lead by a thread, let's see how long it lasts, it always seems to fall at the final hurdle.
City started out so well. A really disappointing day :(
You know that these videos must be huge when the Star Wars calendar moves it's minifigure placement just score better on Jeremy's spreadsheet. And definitely not a coincidence or any other reason.
Yep. They also changed the Santa hat to address the colour bleeding he's been pointing out 😁
It's only a matter of time before they start inventing mega figures and mega dolls.
Once, and only once, a LEGO designer did comment on a video I made about a LEGO Friends set. I'd love to think the teams have side bets on whose calendar will win but I'm sure they are too busy working on new projects.
@jeremyherbertofficial They're all too busy designing massive overly detailed extremely expensive sets they think everyone can afford.
I spit spray my tea on this first door, gee wiz City a whole bunny, pfft. Smoted by a Clone Trouper, booya! Another car that doesn't roll, come on Spidey! I think friends should have been higher. That sewing machine was lovely. The Harry Potter table is just a slightly altered repetition of previous gifts.
I agree, I liked the drawing table and Santa hat better than the Harry Potter table. The other tables had cooler stuff on them too.
Imagine how mad you’d be if you spent full price on the Spider-Man calendar this year…
That’s me 😬
Great video. Happy Sunday.
A single bunny is shameful. A well deserved last place for City today.
11:28 NO NO NO NO ANYTHING BUT WATER SHIP DOWN!!!!!
Saddest film ever. Even Mrs. H can't listen to Bright Eyes!
Phew Potter just hangs on to first again. With 9 days till Christmas eve maybe Potter can finally win.
He's broken my heart so many times. Just don't mess up Potter!
@jeremyherbertofficial fr man, I don't think he's ever won at all lol. I've watched every single one since Potter calender started.
Hmm, Looks like Lego City gave us a repeat of the Dr Strange cape ordeal from last year....
I'd forgotten about the cape. That was similarly tragic.
I think the sewing machine should have beaten the Slytherin table. I love Harry Potter too (pretty obvious from my pfp), but the sewing machine is a better build, and the table’s really just rehashing basically the same thing we’ve gotten three other times.

Maybe they should do a legit princess calendar next year. Even better, a Pixar calendar.
@jeremyherbertofficial Corporate greed is enough to offend the entire Jewish community.

As I said last week, I love micro builds so this is actually a good day for me in Spiderman
Last year of a marvel advent calendar, it was just confirmed 🥺
That actually is a huge bummer for these videos. Hopefully they introduce something new?
I hope so too. Maybe DC can start one. @@jijowajaknxanma3439
@@albundy9918 it makes me question how they decide what to offer in an advent calendar. Marvel this year has clearly been given a lot of filler.
a tad polish got me😂

My rankings for today:
1. Disney
2. Star Wars
3. Friends
4. Harry Potter
5. Spiderman
6. City
The horrors of watership down 😭😭😭😭 please never stop doing this series every year!
Baby bunny nooooooooo!!! 1:12
Call me crazy, if that bunny comes on a jumper plate then it hops up a spot.
Yeah I punned it up.
Lego friends should have had 2nd imo, great gift that’s unique and festive. Outrageous gift from city today at least hammy came with a present
Lego city left me speechless, and not in a good way. Today's was so lazy.
Just curious: Would it have changed your scoring, if you'd knew that the spider-man car was based on a set?
Maybe Lego City is getting a REALLY early start on Easter?
i love the jokes u make
Thanks so much!
2013: First Phase II 501st Trooper minifigure in 75002 AT-RT and 75004 Z-95 Headhunter that is today's star wars gift
I feel like on a different day, Star Wars would have gotten a lower score since the 501st trooper is quite common.
I believe the Spider man car was a joke from the comics, because Spider man doesn't need a branded car. In response Lego gave us this joke of a gift.
YESSS STAR WARS 6 POINTS YESSSSS
Great video!
Thank you

Not a fan of the Spider car either.
6:21 why wizards eat acid?
They also eat jelly beans that taste like snot and fart.
The Bunny could be friends with Hammy. That's because both of them came i a very vacant bag.
Well this is getting exciting! It's a 3-calendar race at this point
Harry Potter outdone himself this year.
Last year, we’ve got a second Xmas tree.
This year, we get 4 tables and 4 statues. How lazy.
Rip MarVel I Got Da AdVent Everr YeAR Sinc. I Was 11 Im 14 Now Dude

You suck for giving last place to the bunny 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
