Imagine this scenario Your walking along on a sidewalk and notice the person in front of you dropped their wallet. You have the choice of picking up the wallet or leaving it on the ground. (For this let's say your a kind person) You decide to pick up the wallet and attempt to return it...... the other person has no choices and just keeps walking without even stopping. You now have the choice to go through the wallet (with the possibility of finding money) or just hold on to it and try to return it again another time. At this time your a little miffed that the person didn't even acknowledge your attempt at a good deed so you decide to go through the wallet and find money, the persons ID, and a credit card. You have the choice to do whatever you want with what you found or just leave it alone. You decide you are going to get revenge on the individual who's wallet you have now stolen (keep in mind you started as a good person) and from here the choices you make should have different outcomes depending on how you react right? Wrong. If the rest of the world is on a set path one person's actions will not change the story (in the case of deltarune anyway) you could commit identity theft but if the people around you can't make their own decisions and must follow a set path your choice amounts to nothing. But if the other person could make the choice of accepting that wallet you picked up then all of sudden you have now changed the story and you can keep being that good person you started out as. Ngl this sounded a lot more intelligent in my head.

@@IMightBeError I can't say I agree with your first statement (I'm not saying your wrong I'm saying I don't see it the same way you do) I can however agree with your second statement (although Wikipedia says that most often the joker was actually used as a substitute for lost cards among other uses depending on what game your playing) thought technically it dosen't act as all of the suits together rather it CAN function as any given suit it needs to at the time. (A true jack of all trades) In situations like this there are no wrong interpretations everyone comes to their own conclusions (I assume that is what the creator intended, leaving no definitive answer and instead letting the players decide for themselves.)
I like that the whole game is based around a Dungeons and Dragons setting, even though the whole idea behind Dungeons and Dragons is that you have a choice in every encounter you face. But in deltarune you have no choice in the story.
