    In my 40 years of playing the drums and hearing some of the greatest drummers that have ever played the instrument, I have come to the conclusion that this man is the best of the best...a true gift to the instrument.

      Same here. I've been playing and listening for 36 years. I rank Dave #1.

    • @drummonst
      @drummonst 3 года назад

      @@bronislaw I was also wondering that.. In your opinion, what's the factor He was underrated ?

    • @bronislaw
      @bronislaw 3 года назад +1

      @@drummonst i actually heard a story told me by one of Dave’s students from Berklee - he told me Dave had some issues with his hands, not sure what it was, some kind of condition which was problematic in the context of touring. I might remembering it wrong, or even being wrong about it though, it was a long time a go. If this is true, it might be the reason why Dave chose to focus more on teaching and not developing a career of a touring artist. I could absolutely imagine him playing with anybody, his skillset and level of execution top of the game, i mean for me He’s playing in the major league along with the likes of Weckl, Chambers, Colaiuta, Gadd, etc.

    Dave is the best! I was fortunate enough to study with him for 3 years at Berklee. A true master!

    I was lucky enough to see Dave put on a clinic at his family's drum shop in Quincy Ma. back in the late 80s or early 90s. Just Dave, his kit and maybe a dozen or so of us watching. His Dad, Dick, was there too.

    Not sure whether it's been pointed out, but Dave is actually counting along with his playing, which looks very much like counter rhythms at times. e.g: in the slow demonstration 2:21. I think he's counting quarter note triplets over 32nds. Even if not, the guy's an alien. Slowly climbing my ranks as one of the best to do it imo.

    • @mikepostdrums
      @mikepostdrums Год назад

      2:21 He’s counting 16th notes 1-e-&-a at that time mark. The 32nd notes are conveniently created by chopping the 16th notes in half 🙂

    What I like about Dave is he can feel the music and he's enjoying what he's playing his mind is inside the drum that is what you need that mind drum connection to really express your art

      +Larry Tate the additional little notes above the drum notation are the notes you should count out loud. Hope that helps!

    Dave, took some lessons at your Dad's shop years ago. I was watching how fast your foot was on some of the old Two Ton Shoe vids. Could you do a short video explaining your bass drum pedal technique, and your method for getting the fast Bonham like triplets on the bass drum??...thanks..rob
