Bodoland is a long pending demand of the Bodo people of Assam. Thousands of Bodo people, young and old, men and women, have sacrificed their lives in their struggle for a separate statehood. Bodo people of Assam have faced racial oppression, and domination in the hands of the racist so-called upper caste Assamese people. In the past, it was even worse. They treated the Bodo people with a feeling of repulsion. Moreover, the government of Assam always adopts a policy to socially and economically marginalize the Bodo people. The mainstream Assamese society puts priority in highlighting and representing solely their own culture and tradition while at the same time covering up the other communities' culture and tradition on big platforms and stages, or while representing the state nationally and internationally. This treatment suggests the other communities of Assam are either second class or don't even exist. Or to put it in simple words, they don't matter. The list of the ill-treatment, be it socially, culturally or economically, goes on and on. That's why, to gain back our humane respect, to safeguard our language, culture, and tradition, to represent our people and culture before the nation and the world, to live like a human being with respect and without discrimination and subjugation, the Bodo people are demanding for a separate state of Bodoland by curving out from the state of Assam. The government of India should listen to the Bodo people of Assam and give justice to them for all round development. Jwi Boro Harini!
