That's what i like about your channel, Chris, the old school mentality where if you need a special tool, you just make your own variation off it. (2 screwdrivers and a hammer can fix almost anything😂😂😂) You are definitely the king of just getting it going anyway you can
Bloody brilliant video as always Chris, thank you very much mate!! 👌 I had no idea that CAT acquired Perkins. Everyday’s a school day eh?! All the best to you & all the family mate!! Professional legend!!! 🤠
Great video Chris. Brings back memories. I worked on the electrical side of those gen sets. The Cats were very reliable and ran for years. Great job with that home made tool, very clever!🇨🇦🚁
You definitely know how to solve problems for sure Chris. You’re always thinking out of the box and tackling the struggle. Oh look at you being in a magazine along with Lil’l dog 👏👍🇨🇦💕
Well done working out the electrickery fault Chris, even tho there'd been several people on it before you 👌 its good to see someone thinking outside of the box to sort out a problem too, brilliant vlog fella 👍👍
chris the engine is a Heui engine made by international and are fitted into american trucks fitted by Perkins and just painted cat colours go to a Perkins dealer and will be cheaper there should be lights on the side in a box for diagnostic tests cat are a fortune injection works on oil pressure on the side there is a pump and a IPR valve with 2x wires going to it that will stop it running on your video at 29 mins you will see the IPR valve you need to change the oils every 250 hours or they will gunge up
Apologies if I'm teaching my grandmother to suck eggs - you can trace cables with a tone generator and probe. I've never tried it on a vehicle wiring loom, but it would work - before I retired I worked in IT, and used the tool for tracing network and phone cables (like wiring looms, all the same colour). You put the generator on one end of the wire, then use the probe to follow it - you can adjust the sensitivity, so if a cable runs above a corridor ceiling, you can follow it by holding the probe up and listening to the volume as you walk along. With the sensitivity turned down, you can identify the cable in a tight bundle.
Hi Chris, excellent video as always, your reaction when you turned ignition on after pushing the relay in was priceless, I wish you were from around wrexham area cus I would invent problems just to get you to our yard just for the laughs, keep being you and keeping us entertained. Jason in wrexham
Nice to see you back on the tools again chris after the last few videos of caravan hols and bikes loved them all specially the caravan convention I never laft😅😅😅so much as I came across the same problems on my convention well done 😊
When was the last time you worked on a Lorry Chris?.. you have slowly morphed into a industrial mechanic.. please don't take this the wrong way and call me out on the next video.. i really enjoy watching your channel no matter what you work on.. I'd watch you drinking a case of Fosters for 30 minutes without you saying a word..it would still make me laugh..😂😂 🍻🍺
I was at a horse event with my mum when I was a kids with our golden lab dog. A old guy came and sat down saying how he loves golden lab. Even brought my dog fish & chips. My mum finally asked what he was doing at the event. He said "i own this estate" 😂 a few weeks later he was on the front page of the newspaper because he told Prince William off for driving to fast on his estate 😂😂 he was a loving old man to me and my mum but especially to my dog 😂
Need to boom out to raise the cab Chris, nightmare pulling boom out manually, it will be corrosion or broken wires usually at plug connectors under cab, should be able to start with cab up though. Tank has a filter on pick up pipe, gets blocked easily.
Great video Chris What a load of bloody struggles But as normal Chris you found the root of the problem and sorted it out well done for finding a way to get that oil pressure valve out as they say Chris every problem has a solution to solve it and you found the solution again well done mate and that tiger sealant worked a treat so that dryer can be used until you get back there to do it properly Big 👍 to the Partic crew for featuring you and lil dag in their Magazine you must be their number 1 Customer Chris Bloody good show ye it was See you on the next one Whooo whooo
Reminds me of my first summer job,in a quarry,, 15yo😂 one daily job was take diesel Bowser pulled with an ancient brakeless tractor, and fill loading shovels, crusher and the biggest generator, 20' container size, which for some reason I regularly forget about 😂😂 some angry running around men when that happened 😂 I think it had a v16 Detroit 2stroke engine,, thirsty it was
A few years ago we built a complete new farm for a Mr De Haan. The site had security on the gates, so when some scruffy guy came round riding his bike, we tried to see him off. Turned out he not only owned the farm, but SAGA, as well.
Chris, @32 mins, next time, use a 3/8th or 1/4 extension in the inside, fill the remaining space with an Allan key and twist to clamp the inside and you’ll pull it out.
Chris we don’t call it bodging we call it on-site engineering. Also the alternator (stator) has bolts on the bell houseing and flywheel underneath that cover you pointed out at the start. I work on these for a living
Hello Chris thats not a cat engine it's a perkins engine as u probably realised when u seen the parts for it. I used to work for caterpillar electric in n.ireland in a town called Larne wer we assembled them im not surprised its over heating lol
the rubber pump bulbs are a pig had to replace one on a jcb digger was sucking air in through the rubber hand pump. You can bleed them to at the return pipe of the injectors with a cheap clark air powered suction brake bleeder clears the entire system of air locks
@@JickJackJake your right it doesn’t matter where it’s coming from but a jump pack just sends all its power into a battery basically where if your using jump leads the alternator got to keep charging the engine while it’ll send a little bit to the batteries

Are jumper cables illegal in the UK? Or could your van not start or charge that generator?
If a jump pack wouldn’t start it you’d have been waiting a while on the van getting enough into it to start it
@gregshearer423 I assumed it was also a 12v system & it wouldn't matter what battery it's coming from. I know nothing.
