  • After a long delay, Tata Motors officially revealed the Punch, which is basically the production version of the H2X Concept from Geneva. We have seen a near-production version at the 2020 Auto Expo called HBX. The Punch is a micro-SUV, which caters to mostly urban buyers and it is based on the same ALFA Architecture as Altroz. The Punch basically looks like a mini Harrier with the split-headlamps set up and high hood position, which gives a proper SUV look.
Tata Punch measures 3,827mm in length, 1,742mm in width, 1,615mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,445mm. The ground Clearance is 190 mm and it is longer and wider than its competitors. The top variant comes with 16-inch alloy wheels and another highlight is the 90-degree doors, thanks to the Altroz platform. The approach angle of Punch is 20.3 degrees, departure angle of 37.6 degrees, a ramp over angle of 22.2 degrees. Tata Punch offers 366 litres of boot space with no split seat option.
The interior design is somewhat inspired by the Altroz and lots of parts have been shared to keep the cost down. The dashboard has three-layer pattern with the top portion in black and middle in silver while the bottom part is also in black while AC vents have a square design with customising colour options available too. The top variants get a 7-inch Harman system, which is used in most of the Tata Models and It gets all the modern connectivity options including iRA connected car tech.
The Punch comes with lots of features like auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, auto-folding ORVMs, climate control, cooled glove box, puddle lamps, rear camera, cruising control and more. Safety features include dual-airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX points, Brake Sway Control, tyre puncture repairing kit. The Punch is powered by a 1.2 L Revotron petrol engine, which does duty on Altroz, Nexon, Tigor and Tiago. This engine produces 86 hp and 113 Nm, mated to 5-speed manual and AMT. To improve efficiency, Tata has given auto start-stop with Punch. Tata Motors will announce the price on October 20 and the booking has already commenced across the country.
