I absolutely love this video, and have enjoyed watching it a few times already. Other than Paris (which I'm not the world's greatest fan of as I'm not really a city boy) I've spent all my time in France down in Provence/Côte d’Azur which I love. For whatever reason I never considered visiting the north coast of France, perhaps because I live on the south coast of England and felt it would be too much like home or something, however this video makes me really really want to visit Saint-Malo. I hope in the future I will be able to do so. Thank you so much for introducing me to this beautiful looking town.
Many, many years ago we were walking on the beach in Brittany. The tides come in very fast and my husband picked me up and my father picked up Mother and they tried to outrun the tide. We all made it safely..but it was a close call! We all loved Brittany, still do, but we have a little house in Haute Vienne and so dont get to Dinard and S.Malo as often as we used to.
Hi Diane. I’m in Saint Malo catching up on some rest. Supper last night was a delicious galette. Rewatching this video to get a better appreciation of what Saint Malo has to offer including the violet ice cream. I greatly appreciate your work in preparing your videos. Im stay at 5 rue châteaubriand a few steps from these beach.
SUCH a great time to be in St. Malo now after all the summer crowds are gone. Did you make it into Sanchez for some ice cream? Thank you for the Ko-Fi donation. ;-)
@@OuiInFrance bonjour diane. I hope to get there today. Im enjoying my flat so perfectly appointed and the bed is wonderful. Best of all , no narrow treaded winding start.
Diane, I'm enjoying more of your videos since I'm a new subscriber. You are so good with the camera and narration.👍🏽You are a natural and I hope your channel keeps growing and growing. Thanks so much!
We visited Saint-Malo in October 2019 as a day trip from Rennes (we are planning to retire in Rennes in about 8 years). We found Saint-Malo so charming and beautiful and look forward to visiting again.
Hi Diane! Thank you for this video - so nice during the quarantine during the Covid-19 pandemic here in So. Cal. We are going to miss our trip to Europe which was supposed to be in June 2020. So sad to miss. It would have been the first visit for our kids. So hard to reschedule with college and high school schedules...
My sisters and I visited in 2018. The spot on the ramparts where you started your walk was right at the building where the action takes place in "All the Light..."!
I have never been to Saint Malo (or to France, for that matter) but I do know a sea shanty about the "capitaine de Saint-Malo". In 1967 I did, however, go to my senior prom with a boy from Cagnes-sur-Mer, where he still lives. I would love to see a video of that town and also Antibes, where more of his family live.
Saint Malo is the town of Captain Robert Surcourf, the french "corsair" (a kind of pirate sworn to the King's orders like it says in video). He was born there in 1773.
When a British officer challenged Surcouf's nobility with these words: "You, French, you fight for money. While we English fight for honor! » Surcouf replied: “Everyone fights for what they lack. »
Excellent video Diane. We are thinking of moving to France, and now, due to your video, Saint-Malo is on our shortlist. We are looking at Normandy, Brittany, and Beaurdeaux. I have been working on learning French now for about a year. Still have a long way to go, but know enough to get by. Keep up your good work! I'm not seeing links to support you on this page though....
Hi Jim, so glad my video helped you fall in love w/St. Malo. It's such a great place and I can't wait to go back. Right now, I have merch as well as a Ko-Fi page linked here if either are of interest. Thank you! teespring.com/stores/oui-in-france ko-fi.com/ouiinfrance
So please, try to articulate and speak really slowly ...we're french! C'est la vie... tranquille... prenez votre temps... après vous, je vous en prie... Laisse tomber la neige... Demain, il fera jour... French way of life, what! :)

In summer it can be very difficult to park the car... last year, after 1 hour of search for a place, we decided to go back home...!
Hi Diane. What a wonderful tour. I haven’t been to Brittany but you are convincing me to explore that region too. Many thanks. Josef diprimio

I love this town so much!
I went to school there in high school and never wanted to leave! Yes I’ve been in Saint Malo!!!
I'm from there
You have brightened my quarantine. Merci:-).
Glad to hear that! Thanks for watching!
I missed the live stream but am enjoying the tour. Very interesting and it seems like it would be a great place to visit. Thanks for sharing!!

Awww, so sorry to hear about your cancelled trip, Lisa. Such a bummer. I hope that at some point you can make the trip together. Take care ;-)

Great tour. Thank you.
Yeah I would love to go here after seeing your video
Ah St Malo! I dropped my camera from those same ramparts in 1978. It never quite worked right after that.
I have never been to Saint Malo (or to France, for that matter) but I do know a sea shanty about the "capitaine de Saint-Malo". I really liked
seems they don't have any high rise buildings. Everything seems to 4 to 5 stories high max which sort of gives the place a quaint feel to it.
Chez Sanchez, been there every summers i can remember
