Simon can you do a video on how to protect our Land Rovers from theft. Like how to protect the wires that go to the antenna that thieves tend to cut (maybe a shield around that area IDK) I know it's ramped in the UK not sure about the States, in Canada it's becoming a problem. Cars are driven to Montreal and shipped overseas. I bring this up because I know of someone that had their RR stolen from his driveway, police chased it, tire spikes where deployed gun shots fired, well the RR was not in great shape when it all ended and as the police said to my friend you don't want your RR back. So not sure what we can come up with, two antennas or a hidden ignition switch etc to prevent theft but let's see if we can come up with something. Thanks Andrew
This is something i have been thinking a lot about. I am thinking about a modified airtag with 2 x AA batteries that will give 10 years of life and this could be hidden in the car ( with the speaker disabled ) but this only find the car - it does not stop the car being taken.
Simon…When I spoke to JLR at Goodwood I was told that 2022 onward cars have a greatly improved anti theft system to make using scanners much less successful and that the system reacts “ in milliseconds”. Now I don’t know if that was accurate information or display stand bluff but can you discover what the exact situation is? It needs your technical abilities to understand. What I did discover as I mentioned on another video is that I cannot insure a RR Sport unless it is in locked, alarmed, brick or stone garage at all times during darkness…even then it was nearly three times what I currently pay! It is now making me look elsewhere….Lexus?….maybe I’m not old enough for that though! 😬😬😬🤔🤔😱😃😃😃
@@HQBProductions Hi Richard - they have a new system that sends a timestamp in the message from the key - if it takes too long to reach the car ( as would be the case with the relay theft ) then the car will not unlock - but this will only stop the keyless entry relay thefts. There as still issues with CANbus direct access thefts - this is why they cut into the tailgate with a hole cutter.
I thought you might well be the man to ask! Do the key problem is overcome but attacking the CAnBus is a worry. No wonder they are uninsurable now. Where are all the stolen cars going then?….that is another interesting question!🤔🤔😱🙂🙂🙂@@L663
