The annual Miss Universe is just a month away! As we all anticipate the girls strutting their stuff in the most gorgeous evening gowns, most creative national costumes and sultriest bikinis, we also look to forward how they would carry themselves come the nerve-wracking question and answer portion of the competition.
For now, let's take a look back at how one of our most revered Miss Universe titleholders gave that iconic answer to that question that changed her life forever.
Here is the first of four parts of my exclusive interview with Miss Universe 1997 , Brook Mahealani Lee!

I am so grateful for these interviews. As someone who is not from The Philippines I always appreciate your English videos. A lot of pageant fans love the Filipino commentary but we don't always understand the language. You should try to do more in English for your international fans

Tbh muntik ko na i skip half way because the interview dragged and brooke is a very very good subject but sorry it dragged lots of time wasted But good thing i stayed and brooke showed she is a really good subject to interview bad direction fr a good actress brook is the best! She saved the bad no direction interview to something really worth watching im glad i persevevered and watched it in full😁

Hello Adam, Hope you're good 🙂WOw, this is a very good interview. I recently posted about Brook's final answer on my page and I am literally gasping over here reacting to her explanation of the context behind her answer. She is just amazing and beautiful. I met her at Miss Universe 2006 in Los Angeles and she was so kind and sweet. So its amazing to see how well grounded she remains still today. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this and thank you. Great job Adam for having Brooke! If there's just one critic that I have... is that Adam needs to control his voice and giggling... it's kinda deafening and annoying at a point. But other than that, everything was great!

Now i understand why Alicia nd Marena were not happy after Brooke won that night cause Brooke's answer is very offensive to Alicia's previous body issues internationally. And when the crowning moment, Alicia put the crown rudely to Brooke and Alicia suddenly reached Marena for congratulatory interactions.

Just so you know, Brook’s answer was meant to put to rest an issue that was not going away. If you watched Miss USA that year, Brook DEFENDED Alicia’s plight. So, you actually DON’T understand. What you should understand is the concept UNGRATEFULNESS and of being a SORE LOSER. Period.
She actually defended Alicia, then Alicia dissed her and accused her of cheating? Smh
It was not a secret Alicia was unhappy when she crowned Brooke and for Morena to claim Brooke cheated is sour grapes. I agree, Brooke's final answer was spontaneous and not rehearsed. She has proven she can think on her feet.

This was the girl who kept complaining about the weight and size of the iconic crown, referring to it as “the Chandelier”. The MUO then decided to replace that crown because someone who did not dream to wear that glorious crown can’t stop whining. A million girls would kill for her job and she can’t even wear the crown graciously.
I'd give props to Brooke for "complaining" about the chandelier crown. It may be "iconic" to some but you've got to admit that it looks very cheap. She paved the way for Miss Universe to even consider of having even more iconic crowns. That crown had its moments back in the day and by modern standards, it looks very dated. It's only right for the winners to have an expensive, gorgeous looking crown that is even more iconic, for example the Mikimoto Crown.
@@mjnj0726 Nope, I sincerely disagree. The chandelier crown from the 1990s looks cheap. The one that the winners wore in the 1970s looked elegant and fit for a miss universe. The Mikimoto crown while I think it’s nice is vastly overrated and doesn’t even look as expensive as it is and besides all that in the end like Paula Shugart said it was too fragile and high maintenance. They need a sturdy crown that doesn’t have a completely hideous design like that god awful DIC crown. The mouwad crown would have been nice if it were an actual crown and if they hadn’t stuck that cheap looking gem in the top. My favourite of the moderns crowns is definitely Diamond nexus without the top arch, so I’m grateful that Dayana Mendoza broke it.
