    • @CameronDurham
      @CameronDurham 9 лет назад +17

      SecretSmileyFace Actually, I disagree with you big time on that. Firstly, we don't kill each other for food. And even when other animals kill because of territory, we do that, too. Sometimes it's when someone breaks into our home. And sometimes it's simply for land (which doesn't happen so much anymore). But we are also a society that works together. In order to function we need laws such as don't kill each other. Other species don't have the cognitive power or any sort of reason to make laws like that.

I think it's the lactic acid that cause the pain. It's been about 3 years since i last studied biology though so it may be wrong.

    0:51 Stating that 'in a lot of cases, yes [, man-made chemicals are worse]' is weird..
    In what cases would it be worse? Like, is 'synthesized' vitamine C different in any way than the vitamine C in nature?
    Or like 'sucrose is worse than sugar'? Because in the latter, you're not comparing the same thing.
    Hell, by going from the latter, I could state that synthesized chemicals by humans are infinitely better than the ones found in nature. Simply because humans keep humans in mind and nature just doesn't give a f*ck :-P
    It is especially weird to state this making the video the way you did, so I might just not understand what you're trying to say here. So, I would love to hear in which cases synthesized chemicals are worse than natural chemicals

      @antonydandrea 9 лет назад

      the pop tart evolved edition contains 60 grams, therefore double the sweet

      martinshoosterman Oversimplification, there are many, many compounds in everything you eat. A better argument would be to tell them that they're literally composed entirely of human-made chemicals, because everything in them was made by their cells. It renders their argument moot and their definition of chemical useless in one sentence.

    I've lived off the grid for a couple years now and planning to move back out very soon and I am very well versed in wild edible foods and if a wild plant has a harmful chemical in it then we usually call that a "poisonous plant" and don't eat it.
    Although there are a lot of plants that you just can't eat very much of or else they could be poisonous in some way such as the dock plant. If you eat too much or even a little on a regular basis it could cause swelling and stomach upset. Or even the common clover. So yeah, everything has chemicals, but I think when people talk about them they mostly are talking about modern chemicals created in labs or whatever. You simply can't eat anything without eating chemicals, even in 10,000 BC, but I thought everybody knew that.

    Once in high school I was reading the ingredients on something that I was eating and my friend came along and said "if you can't pronounce an ingredient it's not healthy" and they pointed to an example of one on the list and I told them "You know that word is a type of Vitamin right?" and they just went "Oh..." and left me alone after that XD

      It's the truth. Some chemicals are very very very very bad, some are very very very very very good for us! Like fruits and veggies!:)

      piplup2009 There was a famous case a few years ago where a contestant on a radio show died. It was something about drinking a lot of water for a prize. I think a couple gallons in an hour will do it.

    • @Awrethien
      @Awrethien 9 лет назад +6

      piplup2009 Ill go into a little more detail as to why it can be deadly. If you drink to much water at once or if you exercise for long periods of time and drink just pure water you throw off the sodium and electrolyte levels in your system. This imbalance will causes cells to swell like balloons to balance the salinity inside and outside the cells. That is VERY BAD when it happens in places like say the brain.

      @SVTran96 9 лет назад

      Robert Rockey I'm inferring that when the cells swell, clots could possibly develop that could inhibit blood circulation.

      Seedless watermelons still have the white shriveled seeds in them, they just don't have dark hard seeds, so you can easily chew them and don't have to worry about spitting them out.
