100% agree with you, and the greatest tragedy of Outlaws isn't that it's a "bad game" it's that it has so many missed opportunities which could have made it a great game.
'Typical Ubisoft game' has an explorer mode with no markers on the map at least 5 years already. It was in AC: Odyssey for example. It's surprising how few gamers know about this. Why?
Well, I love the implementation of Explorer mode. The issue is that when doing something like that, you need the game to be heavily designed around not having markers you will get lost over and over and over and over. Ghost of Tsushima is good at working around this by using the wind, but still perfect by no means. Elden ring probably has the best example as their entire world is designed to guide you from one location to the next. However, if you simply just turn off the markers, it doesn’t work the majority of the time.
Now only does the actual level need to be crafted in a way to guide the player from one area to the next, but it will also require accurate descriptions of where you’re heading ie north of Cambria passed the windmill in an old shack to the west. Ect ect The game doesn’t implement features like this then good luck turning off the hud
@@taylorpennington8126, explorer mode works perfectly in Odyssey and Valhalla. And it works even better in Avatar. Text descriptions are enough to get the approximate location. You need to come there, and you will see the exact point or way yourself, just keep your eyes open.
You nailed the same experience I am having with it. Get the gunplay, stealth, and enemy AI at the same level as the locations, characters, and atmosphere, and you have a 9 out of 10. Really enjoying it. Can't wait for a few more patches and DLCs. And the $18 month Ubisoft Connect is the way to go. If you don't like the game, you can cancel the subscription and that is all it will cost.
Considering buying this after watching your review with your feedback that it does a good job in helping scratch that Star Wars itch even as a 7.5/10 experience. Love that the minimal upgrade tree appears based on functionality instead of the normal Ubisoft 100+ skills upgrades.
Gonna have to disagree thier games are very formulaic and boring. They aren't terrible but that's mostly because they found what worked for them like 15 years ago and just kept doing it. And that's fine for some people but most people would like some change or innovation or at least more attention to detail and care put into the games they make. In the new outlaw game about being an outlaw you can't even steal speeders or kill civilians. Gta has been out for how long now c'mon.
Ive been really enjoying Outlaws - and it seems like others are as well. So glad to see a review that isnt going directly for the "just for the clicks" hate. It's not a perfect game, but it is still a lot of fun.
@@Justanotherguyize not $70 fun. More like free-$20 fun. Which is my plan. Wait until it’s free or basically free. By then most of the bugs will be worked out, there could be new content, and it’ll be cheap…no lose situation there.
@@PeopleRTheProblem I disagree, and I worry that too many people are being influenced by RUclipsrs and others who know that bashing these kinds of games will get them automatic likes, even if the game is good. That said, I can definitely understand that $70 is a lot of money for a lot of people and, for them, it makes sense to wait. Finally, I have yet to see a single bug on the PC version and im probably 80 percent of the way through the game (taking my time). Again, it's not perfect, but it is worth a full price to me. It can be extremely fun to play.
@@Justanotherguyize you do understand that the game will play the exact same whether I pay $70 or nothing at all correct? My opinion doesn’t come from any RUclipsr. It’s what I always do these days with games because they’re aren’t many that have been released in the passed ten years that are worth the money at launch. Question, if a RUclipsr convince to it this game would you recommend I don’t? Because I was influenced by a RUclipsr?
This game is perfect for just a bit of derping after work and not be too overstimulated, plus as a SW fan they have really cool attention to detail and the story is actually decent :) That being said for a stealth game the stealth is on the lower end of mediocre.
So far Im enjoying the game. However that doesnt mean its good. Prob 6.5/10 at best. Definitely needs more development time. However if you are a Star Wars youll like the environments and styling.
You called this game "an immersive sim", and I have no idea what you're talking about. Immersive sims are games that let you realize a specific fantasy and get immersed in their world by giving you a lot of options to engage with it. When I think of "immersive sim", I think of Red Dead Redemption 2. That game really focuses on realism and goes out of its way to let you FEEL like you're role playing as an outlaw in the Wild West. What makes RDR2 an immersive sim is the sheer amount of details and things to do. Even the most mundane tasks like eating, drinking or hunting animals feel like immersive tasks. You stalk a perfect 3-star animal, land a headshot, and then you have to put it on a horse and physically deliver it to a butcher. You know... like you would in real life! That's the point of immersive sims. SW Outlaws is neither particularly immersive, nor is it a sim. All it has is some nice-looking environments. In every other aspect it's outdated and restrictive. You can't hunt, you can't interact with NPCs, you can't rob anyone at gunpoint, you can't steal vehicles, you can't cause shootout in cities, there are no dynamic and believable encounters like in RDR2, you can't take any found weapons with you, you can't carry bodies, you can't manipulate the environment in any meaningful way, there's no notoriety system... Even the Syndicate system is shallow and unrealistic. So how on Earth can you call it an immersive sim?
I know why the hate, It’s not hard to figure out. But if fans want ubisoft to keep pumping out good games like they have and like this one, Fans need to cut the crap out. Ubisoft is working very hard

Absolutely
I'm really enjoying it too. It's far from perfect but it's fun and captures the star wars vibe perfectly.

You don’t just get to go into the settings and throw in a toggle explore mode that turns off hud markers and call it a effing day😂
It was broken in AC and it's broken in this. It's so half-assed implementation.

Liked and subscribed. We need more level headed critiques like this on RUclips.
As with most of their products, it's a good game that would be praised by critics if the Ubisoft logo didn't show up at the beginning.
he said himself its a 6.5 for non starwars fans which is the more objective conclusion. a 6.5 is nothing truly praise worthy.

I love this game, one of my Top 3 Star Wars games of all time. It's more Star Wars than KOTOR.
