  • Bridget Phillipson, the education secretary, is asked about issues around Labour members accepting gifts and free tickets from party donors.
Data shows Ms Phillipson has received around £14,000 in gifts from Lord Alli, a Labour peer who is one of the party's largest donors.
Asked what this was for, the minister explains this was "used to fund two events, all of which was declared properly and thoroughly".

14 grand for a 40th birthday party !!!!! They are so self absorbed, so entitled, me, me ,me. Whilst they piss up the backs of pensioners and tell them it's raining. Do people honestly think that those who volunteer to run the country aren't going to do it to benefit themselves.

I'm a nice guy. I'm kind. I try to help people when I can. But unexplainably, nobody has ever thrown me a £14,000 birthday party. Maybe this is because I do not have political influence to sell. Phillipson seems to believe she can gaslight the nation, because she thinks we are all very stupid.

Here we witness the utter arrogance of yet another Labour MP on the receiving end of freebies, absolutely shameful given the despicable act of cutting winter fuel allowance for pensioners. What an immoral bunch of MP’s we currently have running the country. It seems little has changed since 2009 when the likes of self righteous Yvette Cooper were caught up in the 2009 MP’s expenses scandal.

Fascist economics. The media needs to stop being complicit and start educating people that all mainstream parties follow fascism. They need to educate people what that system actually means and stop pretending it's something completely different and cultural (it's an economic ideology) so people are tricked into believing we don't follow it

Companies with 1000s of employees manage to run expense accounts that are almost impossible to fiddle - it shouldn’t be difficult to manage 600 odd MPs so that they can only claim legitimate expenses; everything else should be banned and if they’re found to have conned the system they should be fired as an MP immediately, just as in the private sector. Why is it so hard to get simple things done ?
