incredible writing imo. the tone shifts make it feel like real life its scary. every episode is like waking up every morning. you never know what you’re gonna get for the day. might be a funny one, an action packed one or a sad one. absolutely incredible.

The child died absolutely it wasn't explained but she was selling her body so her daughter would have a vetter life and she used the money she owes to buy the dress and in the manga you see her and her daughter going to the afterlife it's no telling how many years she been dead before she meet Aira either

Her mother was fighting for her daughters life. She knew what her fate would be if they took her. It's likely the reason she killed herself. She couldn't save her daughter, and she couldn't go on knowing she couldn't save her from that fate and couldn't live with that knowledge. Also, they didn't slash her eye, if you look closely, she took a kick to that side of her face (you can see the heel of his boot strike her face) that's why she passes out for a moment, but the moment she came to she bolted right after them. This scene was pure nightmare fuel when you fully understand the daughter's fate, the mother knowing and the suicide because of the absolute despair of that knowledge. Trafficked children don't live long and have a horrible death with a net zero chance to be saved, especially when you are a normal person and the Yakuza are involved.
She was barely alive to begin with like you mentioned. only thing keeping her going was her daughter. after losing that it was wraps man. If the anime made it a bit clearer that the child was forever lost it would have hit even worst icl.
Y'all one of the small few that understand the Mom jumped from a building! She committed suicide, injured, after her final dance. Highly referenced that the child is dead in the manga. I don't want to even imagine how ,it could be organ trafficking, but I feel so bad for both of them

For this reason, being an anime, it would be nice to see a mother and daughter in a happy ending. Those monsters have to pay dearly.

I think she was hesitant because she wanted to get herself together to show her daughter nothing but happiness. Such a beautiful and tragic episode.
yeaah we kinda understood that afterwards considering what she had done. One of the best episodes this year! absolute peak.
