@@ethansmith3213 bro I feel the same. It’s so hard to live in the moment but I’m trying! We take small moments for granite and cling onto them forever once they’ve passed and are no longer tangible. We worry so much about what will happen in a year we forget to live for today.
One of the best introspective healing albums I've ever listened to...so it's like it gets better than care for me every single time I listen...that intro is so fucking good that I cried multiple times cuz my grandma died a few years ago and when he said " its been a while since the last time we saw you"...any way i thank you saba for his masta piece
No lie I didn't know what to think the first couple singles cause I was such a fan of Care For Me and they sounded nothing like it. Then I heard a piece of the Bone record and thought it sounded great. I'm glad I waited till the album dropped to hear it. I'm not sure if Saba is in a better space than he was in during care for me but it does sound like it on this record, even with the deep subject matter. This is definitely an album we will be talking about for a while now, and I hope it brings even more fans your way cause it's incredible. Sorry for ever doubting it.
I am touched. Learn to make peace with your past and your heritage! Learn to appreciate the little everyday good things in the present, however few they may be! Much love from Nairobi, Kenya.
I love everything about this record, not just the music but the ideas a d visuals behind it. You are an artist, got into Saba a bit late but I am happy I was here for the release of this one
15:26 Sankofa means to “retrieve”; literally “go back and get”; san - to return; ko - to go; fa - to fetch, to seek and take. Sankofa is often associated with the proverb, “Se wo were fi na wosankofa a yenkyi,” or “Sankofa w’onkyir” which translates as: “It is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten.”
Critical response to Saba just confounds me. I keep hearing how his sound “lulls” and his style “hasn’t outgrown his influences yet” and all I hear is sonic genius that takes me so many places. Maybe it’s my personal connection to music being so intense. Maybe I just let myself rejoice in each artist individually. But Saba’s work matters so much to me. I’m a Tulsan, and we’re kinda of an unspoken cousin of Chicago (many Black Tulsans fled to Chicago after the 1921 Race Massacre). I remember visiting Chicago for the first time in like 2004 and thinking, “This is like home. I know these people. I know their facial expressions.” Maybe that’s it. I don’t know. I’m just thankful that I get to hear it, and that he gets to do his work. 🙏🏽
I remember a time where i had so little yet had everything i ever needed, but as ive grown a little older i feel as though ive got nothing anymore. This has really helped me. Thank you Saba for everything. I hope there comes a day where everybody has peace within themselves.
Thank you Saba. What for? For trusting your gut and pursuing your calling. For having the confidence to release your music knowing not everyone is gonna love it. Most of all, for telling not just your story, but everyone’s story. Thank you.
Thank you Saba for your presentations of blackness in all of its beauty. You are both an artist and the art! Keep shining and putting the West Side back on the map!!! All my love
definitely gonna be on my list for the album of the year. will come back and listen to this a lot, i‘m 100% sure about that. great work, thank you Saba

this is amazing...the vision behind the album and film is so beautiful. Saba was goated for me after CFM but this project might top it. To the whole Pivot gang, thank you.
The energy that this album gave me on first listen was different, and then upon a number of listens I felt what it was really propagating - contentment. Saba expressed this in the best way he could, and it's felt in every song. Now when I hear the intro and 2012 I'm moved into a different space and feel. To be and feel genuine in your messages from this album shows it takes time, and Saba does show us this very well with his raps on here. Few Good Things is for Saba, for the people, for the world. Ready to count your blessings? Cop this album. Also caught the Twi saying "Sankofa w'onkyie" in there. Wow!
Very Profound take on life in Chicago...True art provokes thought and emotion...these visuals do just that....Ironically this album came out on my Grandma's funeral. Sounds morbid but it was actually comforting to listen to that day. Thank you for always having music that comforts

When Saba said “I put my heart & my all in my art, I’m alternate” he meant that & it truly shows. This album & especially this visual makes me want to go look at old photo albums. I had a great convo with my “aunty cousins” yesterday & I feel like this made me appreciate it more & keep it going.
This album hit me hard! In the best way possible. I lost my grandparents within the last 6 years and the family was never the same… this was truly beautiful

Yo. This was so wholesome, beautiful and raw. 🥲 I love the storytelling and the imagery. I cried when you showed the abandoned building. All of those rich memories that took place there. I felt your pain and saw the hurt in your face. You are so brave for opening up your heart and creating a body of work based off of everything you ever loved and knew, and reflecting on the loss that you experienced. That's not an easy thing. Our first reaction is to run and hide from pain but you faced it and made beautiful art from it. You told our story as well as our grandparents because all of our grandparents did come from the South for a better life. You showed the world what life was like as a child growing up in Chicago. To us, it was a beautiful place despite all of the violence. Glad you did this. Got me all in my feels this morning. Rest in peace to everyone that was lost. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
