Im theorizing that, since gravity also affects relative time, his split personality comes from 3 versions of him being merged during that black-hole-experiment-accident. His physical features/armor changing when he swaps makes this even more plausible. Other way to say it: I think its the tracer-phenomenom, but instead of erasing 1 being from the timeline, it puts 2 additional ones into one being, making them unstable.
I inclined to agree. But remember when he said mass, density, momentum it's too much, how everything is an illusion, how he has harnessed the harness. I dont think he experiences time differently, but reality. He was ripped apart and put together, but different. He has to concentrate and use his intellect to actually make sure he holds himself together atom by atom, molecule by molecule. Make sure his actual gravity stays constant or he'll die. Which is not good for anyone he faces. He could even be immune t ok tracers time travel abilities

(since they even look like they are different ages and have differend clothes/armor, id guess they were pulled away from their times and are in something like a ,,void" until they get ,,swapped in" - they all exist, they all think for themself - and losing their grip on reality (not "falling apart" as in falling apart cause there is no gravity holding them together) means swapping to one of the other versions. All just early interpretation though, we will see how close this is when we get to know more :D

a theory I saw a couple of days back is, when he got in contact with the black hole his mind accessed various realities (Stephen Hawking's black hole theory), so it's like a hive mind where his various realities all share the same conscience, the same mind, and it drove him completely nuts ("It's too much to hold on to.") but also the black hole gave him the gravity powers

Im late but if you dont know yet The noise you wondered about was Sigma saying "Release me" because of talon 2:32 "rescuing" him and sigma didnt know he was being brainwashed by them, when you hear him say "What is that melody" 1:32 that was the melody talon used to brainwash him. Forgot to mention, throughout the video you can hear him whispering backwards "Release me" "Free me" and "Its in me." 2:18 thats one of the many whispers Hope this helps!
Its like a darker version of Zenyatta. Zeny is all about harnessing peace or something like that, while Sigma is wanting to harness the harness to the point of going insanly mad through his project which goes terribly wrong.
From what I can gather the story is that he attempts an experiment to harness the energy of a black hole and it goes horribly wrong. His mind merges with two other timelines, one where he succeeds and uses his research for good, and one where he uses his research for evil. After the experiment is shut down he is imprisoned and Talon bust him out. They proceed to manipulate him for their own gains while he rapidly shifts personalities, his mind unable to contain three versions of himself at the same time.
I'm back to add that since he says "Freedom... Imprisonment... It's all an illusion" it's likely his villainous persona is the one in control while the other two are struggling to be heard, whispering in the back of his mind.
Basically a failed black hole experiment split his personality in 3 each of which are cycled through at 1:44. A personality that feels imprisoned, a personality that is still dedicated to science (possibly his personality before the accident) and a violent berserker personality. He was then captured by an unknown organisation presumably so they could study his condition. Talon then attacks the facility (we know it's them because you can hear reapers shot guns during the alarm sequence) and bust him out. He then joins their ranks as one of their key players

Yeah please no more tanks with a shield... i‘m kinda annoyed by rein/orisa + bastion (or someone else with a turret) combos. Imo it’s more fun to play DVA or Winston because of the mobility they have.
I still wish he would get his own cinematic one day. Maybe with Moira, Sombra or both? Or maybe they could progress the story by having him freed and recruited by Overwatch. After all he's not a bad guy.
Gravity is a harness that is keeping him together. He can control gravity because it's inside of him, it's what keeping his physche somewhat intact. Just like his little gravity dodecahedron bullet things that are always coming apart and snapping back together, his mental state is constantly in flux.
If you play the entire video backwards you can hear him say "release me" multiple times, "the light still on, he's still here", "can't take it anymore" and some other creepy stuff, you have to watch it a lot of times to catch everything
The whispers and that sound he makes near the very end are reversed audio. Constantly whispering “hold it together”, and near the end, the reversed shout of “Release me!”
Anyone else think this character is based on Event Horizon? His gimmick is gravity, and the warp drive in the movie Event horizon is called The Gravity Drive and supposedly bends space and time allowing for instantaneous transportation. So maybe he came back with some entity, and not just split personalities.

The reason he was going crazy is because of the current concept of Black Holes that is actually a portal to the Multiverses. Sigma is flashing between the Multiverses where he is researching the Black Hole, Succeeding in the research, Failing in the research, Going to ‘Prison’ because of his research, and finally to his current form... exploiting his research. Using the Power for his benefit. Black Hole is Gravity and Gravity is a Harness... So he shall Harness the Harness. Edit: You can say that some of the ‘Multiverse’ is actually the same area where the cannon Universe is that he ‘in a way’ fail his research because it wasn’t what he was expecting, went to an asylum like Prison to contain someone like him, and was broken out by Talon, as you can hear sound of Reaper’s and Widow-maker’s gunshots and Moria’s Biotic Orb around 1:58
