This is a bold statement. But from my very subjective viewpoint I more or less agree. He is much less played than Leo Brouwer. But that might change over time. Sergio Assad releases masterworks with a consistency that should make the community of classical guitar professionals very happy.
Again, another breathtaking set of pieces...gorgeous preludes, stunning dialogue with Chopin, overwhelmingly beautiful, deep, enthralling, and creative...
#7 reminds me of a Chopin piece in Amaj that reminds me of a Brahms Waltz also in Amaj, #8 is beautiful and complex but reminds me more of Barrios than Chopin, #9 reminds me of a Chopin Mazurka but none in particular, and finally #12 is again beautiful and complex, that I so much appreciate Assad for, but reminds me more of Lauro than Chopin 🙂 !!! anyway, got to thank Knoblach Strings for commissioning this collection !!!
I recommend comparing them to Chopin's 24 Preludes. You'll observe that all of them share Chopin's Preludes as their starting point. The intention wasn't to arrange or transcribe Chopin's Preludes, but rather to use them as a foundation to create something inspired by their beauty. Additionally, if you're interested, I've written a text about this project that you seemingly haven't taken the time to read. You just have to go to the item more about this.
@@sergioassad OMG, a reply by the composer, I can't believe the composer even has time to read youtube. I haven't looked at Chopin Preludes since I was a teenager, and am 69 now, so I was totally shooting from the hip. I still have the sheet music (I'm a bit of a hoarder, even though I moved on to Jazz even before the end of my teens ) so will get that out first. Yikes. My Bad. What first turned me on to your music was Stephanie Jones playing Irregular Mirror, after that I started looking you up, and well, I can't say enough about how much I like it all, one of my facebook posts even has a list of my favorites. I have one request, if you can, if you have the time, listen to Anna Pietrzak playing Seis Brevidades, then (perhaps like you did with Thu Lee playing Aquarelle) leave a comment about how good the performance is, I've listened to every single recording I can find on youtube and this one stands out to me. More digression, what I find stunning about Aquarelle is not only that its so dissonant, but that the climax is consonant, to me that's mind boggling, I'm sure its been done before but can't think of any piece of music off the top of my head that does this ? signing off for now, got to dig up my dusty old Chopin Preludes...
Muy buenas interpretaciones, todas.
Sergio Assad is the all time best composer and arranger for guitar.

¿Tanto así?

Stephanie Jones, what a playing, congrats
Can anyone tell me where to find the scores for these beautiful pieces ? Preferably the total package. Would love to learn to play them all ❤
They will appear soon at Knobloch music.
@@sergioassad thanks ! Looking forward to them ! ❤️

I agree with you about Anna Pietrzaks performance of Seis Brevidades.
