Man, lately I've been feeling stale and generally lost with the guitar and it's been depressing. However, seeing your videos always makes me feel inspired to play again. Thank you for the content.
Love this!! I need so much help with my picking! I am so sloppy and it seems that I just cant seem to progress past a certain point. Going through your videos though hoping it will help!
You showed a pic of yngwie at the beginning. He always used easier sequences that used even number notes per string that allowed changing strings on up strokes and if not he would use legato to make it work that way only up strokes on the string changes which allowed the speed he got. These are much More difficult to do. BTW what pick do you use? You find thicker or thinner ones work better? Tia
Hey Rick, can you put out the tabs for these 3 patterns - great lesson but bit quick to digest the sequence. Really into your teaching so after this I will be on your store to buy some lessons, pls can you let us all know when you can do these {asap} and pls mention the R, 3, 5, 7, 9,11, 13 ETC order of sequence. Are these just the extensions {as in the modal extensions, I am thinking in terms of a type of a HACK}, great job, best teaching and inspiration yet, thank you.
I found Your channel 1 week ago, started with the excercise for horrid picking morning XD and after 1 week gotta say that My technique has improve very much, Always though that Economy Picking was a technique that generated a lot of vices, But then after founding You I can say that After 22 Years Being a Guitar player I have overcome my previous me with Your teachings. Thanks Rick
Thanks, Rick. Love ya, man. Anything that addresses cross-picking, or inside/outside picking is always a good thing since that can hang people up so much!
Definitely going to spend some time with these patterns! Not sure if you cover it in any of your lesson packages, but if you could ever go over your picking technique, it would be amazing. Your pick attack is so good and immediate. I’m guessing it has a lot to do with how you angle the pick and possibly if you shape them a certain way? Thanks Rick!
I cannot wait to start these exercises. I basically gave up trying to shred in the 90's, but like a fidget spinner, i need to have one !! [practice these] Rick is an amazing teacher. With impeccable technique AND,,,,,,,Attitude. . Why did i give up? like many of us, we never really knew about picking techniques, other than TRYING to keep alternate picking going, and then Eric and Yngwie came out.......
Yes, I posted it when I first started watching the video and was trying to figure out what mode it was to help grasp the patterns. I think it would helpful if it stated that he was cycling the sequences through the positions in D natural minor.
Lol @ the thumbnail. I bet if you zoom in on the watches, you'll see the moving hands are little guitar necks.. with watches on them.. that have guitar necks for moving hands.. etc etc.
Hi Rick. I ve a question: in the third pattern you use an upstroke in the fourth note (first string) , doing an 'outside picking' from the second string ( third note) .. is it for more articulation or what?thanks
Hi Rick, Another great lesson. I did notice though that you change the pick stoke direction at the beginning of each sequence...Sometimes you start with an up stroke and other times with a down which is confusing me. Would you be kind enough to quickly tell me what the stroke is for the first note of each new sequence and I'll be on my way with this. Many thanks form a huge fan.
Rick you have replaced my all time Guru Paul Gilbert, as the virtuoso that has increased-improved my ability to pick shred, jaw dropping type soloing, put a band together and get out and tour, have some t-shirts made, too many people don't know who you are. Would love to have a few pints with you ,you have a great sense of humor, too many Guitar Gods take themselves so seriously, and need a good kick in the ass. I would love if Guthrie Govan , Greg Howe? did a similar daily teaching series, get back into the gym brother, that extra weight is unhealthy,I would like to have you around for a real long time, bet you're not fighting off the Chicks much lately, anyway really enjoy your amazing playing! Thanks mate! Come to Florida.
you should explain it the first time much slower or tell the fret number or tab it. It´s very hard to follow. I had to slow it at 0,5 speed and repeat it like 5 times. But hey thanks for sharing this patterns help me a lot
for the first example, It seems you are starting with an up, but when you continue the sequence you are starting with a down. Otherwise you would have 2 ups in a row.
Ok, I see what you are doing on the first example. This worked for me and felt most comfortable. Economy picking as you descend and alternate as you ascend. So the pattern is: U,D,U U,D,U U,D,U D,U,D U,D,U,D for one position, then repeat for all the next positions.
so your teaching ... 22fret huh??? so you start it off showing the main pattern starting on the on the 22nd??? makin it rather difficult on a tele or most guitars and startin it out there is akin to a swift kick in the balls ...and your playing it way to fast and tellin to practice it slowly...now some guys will teach painfully slow and yak yak yak but this thing your showing is a little more deserving of at least a slow showing.. don't need calling out each note or fret but crap you just blow thru it like it's your standard fair!!! why you doin that???
Loved your video with rick beato,
Man, lately I've been feeling stale and generally lost with the guitar and it's been depressing. However, seeing your videos always makes me feel inspired to play again. Thank you for the content.
I'd just love to hear Rick play Marching Out, my all time favourite Yngwie track.
Good call, I totally agree! Come on Rick, do it!
Baroque and roll please. Or vengeance! Or fire and ice! Malmsteen reigns Supreme.
I bet if he read this he knocked out a few bars of it.
His hand movement man. Flawless .
Never in my life have I been more proud of my chops than when Rick Graham said “this part is hard” and it was actually fine.
So happy to see you publish more videos, Rick! Appreciate you sharing your magic!
Hi Rick, Judging by your performance I take it you managed to sort out the problem with the hand? Great to see you back on form! Cheers.

Ty so much. Are u always going to your pinky for each sequence?

I hate you Rick
Love,

Ambitious of your parents to put a H in your name JoHn.
Amazing playing, as always. Scary good tbh...

See my above post concerning example no 1
Thanks but can't see your post anywhere? :(
Great attack and tone🤘🏻
This video made me try economy picking after a long while. I have to say I'm starting to get it now! 👊
do you get the economic picking now bro?
The first lick sounds like Passacaglia from Händel
Wonderful stuff as always!
Great video, Rick!
Seems you've learned something from Rick Beato... :) Good for you!
your left hand movement even when youre playing slow is astonishing
I always get extremely depressed when I see your flawless technique - keep it up, I can deal with that :D
I love you
juicy patterns
Hi, u playing it in one tone and scale?
Its a exercise

Scit scat wah - Racer X 😎
I cannot start with "op" rick but im doing economy. Is it possible?
imagino que si pero habría que hacerlo en otras posiciones y sonaría más a arpegios
you should explain it the first time much slower or tell the fret number or tab it. It´s very hard to follow. I had to slow it at 0,5 speed and repeat it like 5 times. But hey thanks for sharing this patterns help me a lot
Hey Rick, are you in standard tuning ?
Yeah he is. If his D is on 22 then it's standard.
Rick, link doesn't work. Sorry
for the first example, It seems you are starting with an up, but when you continue the sequence you are starting with a down. Otherwise you would have 2 ups in a row.
When you were doing it slow. See above and I figured out the picking pattern
You are Incredible, my Friend, but is too difficul for me! SUCESS for you!😛😫😎😎😇😇

Oh shut up!
That was amazing
Down op down op down op op down op down down op
And not one chord was played that day.
Oop, down, oop, oop. Ee.
It’s not you mate hahah cmon. He is picking too much 😂
Glad to see that you made mistake playng slow ......so you are human too?
Don’t post the tabs! Make guitarists learn their fretboards!
WITH THEORY!
Master Exploder i disagree
Or rather, it is a dualistic premise; yes there are patterns to visualize, but understanding what you’re playing allows further exploration of ideas.
Dude you aren't Explaining anything well.
Maybe it's to hard for you
You seem to be gaining weight..
