- I had to take time going back in to refine and correct drawing/shapes to get this painting to where i'm pleased with it. Over the course of several quick painting sessions

Why do oil painters usually use brown oil paint at the beginning of a painting ? Is it the best color to build on top of?
It is a preference when laying paint on to start a painting brown may work best for building towards realist colors. Impressionist style sometimes block in bright pure color to start painting building color from there

Peter, could u show how to paint a black and white cat? I am trying to learn how to mix the colours to show fur and detail on a black and white cat. My painting looks like a blob rather than a black and white cat.
:) well i'd like to, thanks for the feedback/suggestion but not sure when i will ever get around to it. Keep on painting! You'll improve by doing or practice, instruction is very helpful of course to learning but the doing is the most essential thing. Have a great day!
