As someone who lives in NC, this is very scary. Our current governor, Roy Cooper, is great, but his term is up, and I'm worried that Robinson could win. Our state really is purple, not red, but out of control gerrymandering has gotten way out of hand. If you live in NC, please vote for Josh Stein (and blue down the ballot!)

North Carolina has been in play for a long time. That was the cracking of the Southern Strategy-Virginia and North Carolina voting for Obama. Virginia is just a little bit ahead of North Carolina, but they are going in the same direction. Interestingly, both are high tech economies attracting a lot of new people from out of state.
Everybody on our road voted for Robinson. He appeals to the faith based, lower wage folks, regardless of their race.

This is a very good Republican in terms of his presenting a "high fidelity" representation of his party. Any deficiencies are due to the party, not to the candidate.
Hello from North Carolina! In his book "The Moral Landscape" Sam Harris describes why we care more about living things than rocks, and especially why we care more about children than rocks. On our first weekend in the great state of North Carolina (having moved from Boston) my bicycle started making funny noises. It was a piece of metal rubbing on the spokes. My 4 year old son was in a seat attached to the wheel, so it was kind of important I fix it. I mean, it was important if you care about human wellbeing, especially the safety of a 4 year old boy. Anyway, I picked a little rock from a mailbox garden to push the metal when I saw the homeowner walk out of his door. I called to him and explained the problem and asked for permission to use the rock from his mailbox garden.
He shook his head "NO."
And there you have it folks! People in North Carolina care more about rocks than children! LOVE it here.

NC has gone to the GOP since 2012 in presidential elections, but by very small margins. Not like, say, Alabama. I also have to wonder how NC’s business community feels about the prospect of Governor Robinson. There was a national boycott against the state after the infamous trans bathroom bill, and I’m sure the memory of it is still green. Except something even bigger if Robinson is elected.
