Hope to see you on the road in the USA someday!
I was a Blacksmith for 16 years, solitude was my companion in the Forge, but I was never lonely. Lots of interesting people came to see me, and I also travelled and worked abroad visiting other Smiths and Artisans. It’s a wonderful way of life. 🔥⚒️ I totally understand your POV Eva. Blessings on your journey. 😇
So right. My maternal grandmother came to live with us a year before I was born. I was the last of 5 and my parents were tired of having kids so my grandmother basically raised me. In a way, she saved my life. I always say that she is the reason I am not dead, incarcerated, or sitting at home with a deep freezer full of body parts. She was a saint.
I am 58 years old, working a full-time desk job as an engineer. Once my kids were grown and flew the nest, I realized how much I love being alone, and started spending more and more time in the mountain wilderness surrounding our home. My husband fears for my safety, but I solo backpack for days at a time with my little dog. These trips are like hitting the "reset" button. Looking forward to my retirement when solo days can turn into solo weeks.
We survive as a species because we are social. I'm a skilled marksman and a reasonable woodsman and I won't go a mile into the woods alone. Just too many bad things that can happen.
Eva, your video is perfect for this moment in my life..watching this whilst looking out my window over Plaza de Armas in Santiago, Chile 🇨🇱. 3 days into a 2.5 month trip in Chile and Argentina. Gracias a ti !
What I like the best about this channel, is it’s fun to imagine being well-equipped, free, much younger, alone, brave, adventurous, and well-funded. I have been some of these things, but not all, and not all at once. 😉🙏💙🕊️✨
You can try bushcrafting. You take less stuff with you. Like bare minimum and then challange yourself. You don't have to be well funded to do bushcrafting.
@duane9166 Just a tad. I think I still qualify as ‘spry’ (with ski-poles on steep trails). But I just watched the SAG-AFTRA interview with June Squib, still acting and doing her own stunts at 95 (!) on a scooter (!) and I commented, “She puts the lie to ‘spry’, she qualifies as Vigorous.” You might enjoy her interview, or the movie, Thelma.
The times when I've grown the most have been when I isolated myself and allowed myself to be the hermit that I am. My happiest moments have been when I'm alone with my thoughts and with nature. I spend about 95% of my time completely by myself, not talking to anyone, and it's where I find true freedom. Wishing you the best. ❤
@@evazubeck, and you have always Vilk by your side, that boy will do anything, what is happening to you, i guess he will protect you with his life when needed...🧡🧡🧡, that face at 2:07, so much love...
@@evazubeck Trust me, you do NOT want to come to the "United" States right now. Immigrants will be especially targeted.
Happy to see Odyssey again! Sweden in winter looks quite spectacular, although I'll admit I'm part of the people who went south for now, mostly because my van doesn't have a heater... But to be fair, it's very possible to be alone for days at a time even in Greece, and I am definitely enjoying getting full villages and beaches all by myself! Have fun, and I'll be looking forward to your next video, as always 😊
Despite her apparently full and adventurous life, Eva always seems to me like the saddest blogger online. This lifestyle doesn't seem to fill that immer melancholy.
Eva, this is my favorite form of you. The authentic, reflective, dream-chasing Eva who is truly LIVING life, exploring all the world has to offer with Vilk and Odyssey. I follow along vicariously on these journeys. I can't wait to see you back in the US soon. The wild western frontier suits your soul more than any other place I've seen!
Gooday Eva, hope this trip in the wilderness is going to be a safe one for you. I do worry about you going alone out there, yes I have done the same over the years,,the need to be alone and reflect on my life present and past. I always love the challenge no matter where it takes me,,,but you are definitely a special lady. Hope you get a chance to relax while feeling that sense of peace and freedom in this new adventure, take care girl 😉🥰
The way you pour your heart out is quite absorbing for people like me. And you use just about the perfect words to convey it. Felt my heart racing as you packed up your stuff and the pet in your jeep. I reiterate that you're a strong woman. God bless.
Hi, Eva! It's great to see you again going North. When I was watching Your previous winter trip to Scandinavia, I was betting we will see You there again. And here You go... 🙂 THERE IS something like "the bite (or call) of the Far North", definitely. I know it from own (slightly limited) experience, too. There must be something in those vast, empty landscapes, harsh, but extremally scenery and sometimes colourfull, with plenty of solitude and silence. You must have got it already in Alaska, but it is far, far away from Poland and Europe, not easy to get. So when You discovered North of the Europe last year, I knew almost for sure You'll probably return... So then good luck on the road and on the trail, be happy and stay safe, share Your adventure with us as usual. PS. I see you have packed Your pulks again, so definitely You go straight into wilderness or tundra from time to time. Hope You also took snowshoes/skis and modified the towing system of Your pulk finally ;-) I'm also going there in March, finally after 4 years break in winter trips to Scandinavia.
Hi Eva ! I wish you well on your Arctic adventure. May you & Vilk be warm, healthy,& in tranquility. May you be safe wherever yiu traverse. & May your Defender be 100% functionong. God bless you ❤
Such a good point about what version of oneself comes out in what circumstance and what place. Some people have it in them to explore, some do not. Have to follow your own personality, otherwise you resent your life and folks around you, I've have seen it first hand.
It's really nice to see Odyssey back. I'd grown attached to it from your previous trips and it kinda broke my heart a bit when you set it aside and bought Toyka. It feels really nice to see Odyssey again.
One can be running FROM something or running TOWARDS something. I have a feeling like you are always running towards new experiences, new adventures, new exciting things ;) There is nothing wrong with that!
Travelling from place to place it great! Staying in one place and soaking in the reality of "one spot" is nourishment that makes a lasting impression in ones mind. To be everywhere is to be nowhere! Sure you have built plenty of places of casual acquaintances but zero investments with long term reward.
I have not read any comments or concerns about the challenges/dangers of operating a diesel vehicle in extreme cold weather. Diesel fuel typically gels at temperatures between 10 and 15 degrees Fahrenheit (-12 to -9 degrees Celsius). My diesel truck will not turn over much less start unless it has a plugged in block heater or I park it in the the heated garage. The cold drains the batteries faster then you can imagine. There is a reason that work trucks in the oil fields of Alaska are left running all day long. We install insulated engine covers so the motors will actually reach operating temperatures and do not freeze solid.A canvas roof/wall provides almost no insulating value and interior condensation in a frozen vehicle is a major issue and game changer.
ALSO a kero blaster salamander htr is a nice to have ..Anti -gel additives by the gallon..Also British iron is sketchy.. Adding oil , it just gets worse..Stay safe and bring a 10mm or above..
I totally understand how you feel. As a child, I grew up out in the countryside far from the nearest neighbors. I was used to occupying my time alone. Flipping over big rocks watching ants carrying away their baby sacks (as I called them). Collecting bugs, I was amazed when I found a Praying Mantis for the first time (thought he was from Mars). Looking at the Stars at night and watching seasonal changes.Watching the location of the sun every day so that I could get a general idea of the time of day. Mom always turned us out at day break and said to come home before sunset. Breakfast was oatmeal, lunch was what ever we could forage, dinner was oatmeal again. No TV, no telephones, no distractions. A neighbor had about 10 years of National Geographic Magazines. I visited her just about every day. So many things to do when one does not have outside distractions. Being alone allows your mine to be creative. Go for it.
It's good to see Odyssey again. There is no place like home. Have a good and safe trip and see you when you are ready. I enjoy my solitude and dislike having to go to town.
Recently binged a bunch of: 'I shouldn't be alive' stories, with many revolving around the ocean and sailing. A common theme was isolation. I've always found the ocean to be a source of rejuvenation. There's a purity there. And the smell, oh man, now I'm missing it, haha. I sailed across the Pacific and there's a magical feeling out there when you're alone looking around with absolutely nothing in all directions. And then there's the night sky... TREMENDOUS. If you're digging the vibe of this vid consider island hopping. There are so many remote uninhabited islands out there, where you can wash ashore, and feel like Columbus back in the 'ole days. And if you want to add a little fate, terror, and overcoming your mind schtick... open-water swimming across the ocean from island to island dials up the ALONENESS factor x10. I'll never forget some of those swims... nothingness below you, above, and in all directions. It's an active meditation out there. So much chatter in the mind: sharks? Am I on course? How's my energy? Do I have enough juice for the return trip? What's the current doing? Almost didn't even seem real. Never forget the final revelations of a man named Christopher McCandless (Into the Wild/movie), a real-life fella who solo trekked to Alaska, and eventually died in a school bus in the Alaskan wilderness: 'Happiness only real when shared.' Don't forget to come back.
when you master the state of mind of being alone in solitude all the while in the midst of a crowd then you can truly be alone. i have been doing this most of my life. even in a wilderness you are surrounded by life even it is just plants and insects and then add the animals. being alone is a state of mind.

100% agree. When I'm in the woods, the deeper the better, I feel the most peaceful. In fact, the best sleep I ever get is not on my $1000 mattress at home but on the ground with minimal gear, in the woods.

Aaww, Ms. Eva, I love your new rig, and to be honest I am rather jealous of that beautiful thing, but dang it's good to see Odyssey! Such a badass truck. 💙🚙💙 Vilk seems really comfy to be back on the road in it, too. I'll be looking forward to your musings from the middle of nowhere; that's my favorite Eva mode. I cheer you on in your growing success, of course. But this stuff is why I come back to your channel. My loner heart loves your solo trips! I've heard it suggested that if you need the company of others to recharge, you are extroverted. If you require solitude to recharge, then you are introverted. I'm solidly in the second camp. The company of others can be a true joy and I'm very social at times, but it costs me in energy and emotional and mental bandwidth. I'm sure many of your followers relate! Enjoy your peace. Wishing you and Vilk all the best on this voyage. Much love from California. 🥰
Being alone for weeks is trippy incredible and a bit insanity inducing. The best/worst part is knowing how sane the insanity actually is and how insane all the sane people are.
I admire that you have the strength of spirit to run to a better place that serves your heart and soul. Never change beautiful girl, you and wonderful xxx
I was hoping that we'd see Odyssey again. I would give so much to be able to pack up and go like that. I did a lot of solo camping/travel in my younger years any time the world got a bit much or I just needed time. Now I'm a recent widower in my 50's with a special needs child so it's not an option any longer. But I'd oh so love to be able to take off even for just a few days. In a different life I'd have spent a lot of this last year on the road and in the wilderness processing my 'new' life but our son needs me more than ever now.
As a grandma never feel bad about leaving im sure they miss you but they will be happy knowing you are doing what makes you feel happy. I am looking forward to your next adventure. Stay safe out there 🌨 🌨 🚙 🚙 tree

When I went to live in Australia for a year I was expecting loads of people in the outback to be driving Land Rovers, but that wasn't the case, apparently no one ever drove Land Rovers in the outback in Australia. The reason is that if your car breaks down in the outback in Australia then it can result in your death. So Japanese cars were very popular in the outback. But good luck with your Land Rover in Sweden.

Lots of interesting people came to see me, and I also travelled and worked abroad visiting other Smiths and Artisans. It’s a wonderful way of life. 🔥⚒️ I totally understand your POV Eva. Blessings on your journey. 😇
Yes, Grandma's are the best. Lost mine a year ago. She was 108. Take time with them when you can and keep them in your heart when your not.
Eastern European mothers and grandmothers are all like this. It’s second nature and in the culture and blood.
@ I can't speak for all European grandmothers but mine was from what was then Czechoslovakia and I agree!

Enjoy yourself but be careful too !
We survive as a species because we are social. I'm a skilled marksman and a reasonable woodsman and I won't go a mile into the woods alone. Just too many bad things that can happen.
@@stevenkreft4326 for women it`s more dangerous in the city. way more predators there.
Sorry for your husband that you find him to be such a drag, especially with how he worries about you so much. What a jerk.
Careful... hubby has a reset button too.
Really sorry Eva that all your homesteading plans went to sh*t, but we'll be lucky to have you back here in the U.S. 🇺🇸
😉🙏💙🕊️✨
..yeah, usually the 'funded' bit!..
You can try bushcrafting. You take less stuff with you. Like bare minimum and then challange yourself. You don't have to be well funded to do bushcrafting.
@stevemuzak8526 I did. 50 years ago. I’m different now.
@@Denise11Schultz crazy how your priorities change as your body ages and gets more and more wear & tear
That’s exactly it. I feel you!
@@evazubeck when are you coming to Pakistan? 😁 You are the first travel vlogger I ever watched.
Yes ❤
@@evazubeck, and you have always Vilk by your side, that boy will do anything, what is happening to you, i guess he will protect you with his life when needed...🧡🧡🧡, that face at 2:07, so much love...
@@evazubeck Trust me, you do NOT want to come to the "United" States right now. The situation here is deteriorating as January 20th approaches and many people are terrified, especially as the intent to construct "internment" (concentration) camps becomes more and more spoken about by members and allies of the incoming regime.

I'm glad it resonated!
I’ve found that being alone makes space for creativity, and being in nature allows clearer thoughts, reflection and renewed energy.
100%!
Glad to see Odyssey make it's return. Have another great adventure.
Welcome back to Sweden! Hoppas ni får en härlig tur! (Hope you two have a lovely trip)
I get it, I am becoming more and more hermit like. I’m finding it addicting. Good luck in your travels.
THERE IS something like "the bite (or call) of the Far North", definitely.
Hope You also took snowshoes/skis and modified the towing system of Your pulk finally ;-)
I'm also going there in March, finally after 4 years break in winter trips to Scandinavia.
Hi Eva !
I wish you well on your Arctic adventure.
May you & Vilk be warm, healthy,& in tranquility.
May you be safe wherever yiu traverse.
&
May your Defender be 100% functionong.

You did not read them because it is not her first trip...She did a lot of dangerous things so she will be fine.
Go for it.
ODYSSEYYYYY! 🎉
You have a save trip, Eva! Keep us all updated, but more importantly, make sure you find your peace and happiness again! 😁
Enjoy the light show Eva. The sun is putting out good energy for the most beautiful lights on this planet. On my bucket list.
oh, yea, the sun is in the most active period it's been in, in years. Keep up on the CMEs that cause Aurora on the Spaceweather website.
when you master the state of mind of being alone in solitude all the while in the midst of a crowd then you can truly be alone. i have been doing this most of my life. even in a wilderness you are surrounded by life even it is just plants and insects and then add the animals. being alone is a state of mind.
