This broke my heart. I thought Ben Affleck was the best Batman I've ever seen and now I have no faith in DC. From someone who's read comics since I was 4 I'm crushed this had to be the outcome. What people don't get is Batman was supposed to be that dark in bvs, there would have been character development and he would have been the Batman we in the end sacrificing himself to save superman from darkseid's control. People saw him at his worst and just said that this was not a good Batman.

Everyone hated him when he was announced as the new BATMAN after Bale successfully ended one of the greatest superhero trilogies of all times. Everyone wanted Bale back instead of Affleck.
5 years after the announcement Batfleck officially retires with love and praise from mostly everyone.
I just hope everyone is mature enough not to bombard with criticism and hate the next Batman. He might shut your mouths just like Ben Affleck did.

heck no. Justice League was the film that sold me on him as Batman. Besides one action scene, nothing about him in BvS screamed Batman to me. He was a deppressed, broken, muderous, worn out and moral-less version of the character that, yes, fit the story thematically and paved the way for good character development, but to call *that* version specifically a good Batman is just wrong.

For myself, Ben Affleck gave the most honest portrayal of Batman I’ve ever seen onscreen. His Batman was brutal and his Bruce Wayne was jaded, exactly as I imagined he would be after 20 years of vigilantism in a cesspool like Gotham City. It was only two movies and a cameo in a third but what a superb performance. Ben I salut you and I thank you for giving me the best on screen Batman EVER.

Because... Superman is too powerful... And... Something...something And... Something.

When they first casted him as Batman I was shocked and was kind of like meh, but I wasn't outraged like those fanboys were. He wasn't my first, second, third, fourth or even fifth choice for Batman.... but after seeing him in BVS and parts of Suicide Squad he became my favorite Batman EVER. From the look all the way down to the fighting style he is the most accurate Batman ever. Yes Christian Bale was good too but those fight scenes were awful. The fight scenes reminded me of GTA when you attack random civilians on the street

@Nithorias And sadly a lot of that has to do with the way the suit was designed. With Ben's suit it allowed him greater mobility to actually show off Batman's fighting abilities as described in the comics. Parts of that warehouse fight sequence felt lifted right out of the Arkham games.

Since the Matt Reeves movie is focusing on a younger Batman in the DCEU, there’s still an opportunity for Affleck to return to the role one more time in the future. May not happen, but it would be cool.

Affleck is an amazon actor and an extremely talented man who has accomplished more than most actors out there in his career! I heard he was in NS Canada on the news and I was pissed it wasn’t me that met him. He was the best Batman , and did the best job at playing straight out of comic book Batman and Bruce Wayne! Love the honesty and humility. Too bad, WB and Batfleck couldn't agree on his proposed script (even though Veteran Cinematic Storyboard artist/director Jay Olivia said the script was Kick Ass with Deathstroke). His Arkham Knight-like portrayal of Batman is still my favorite - Love the Fight Scenes and the explosiveness of his Take Downs. His Grimly Jaded and Brooding Demeanor was reminiscent of his Batman: A Death in the family experience that of which to the unfamiliar and to those who has never lost any parent/child could never hope to fully understand which led to him being criticized as a bad actor - pity. Truly, ignorance is bliss.
Well said. I completely agree with you. I’m so disappointed. We’ve never seen the Batman on the big screen like the one Ben Affleck brought us. The closest I have seen to that is in Batman The Animated Series and the Batman Arkham video games (love Kevin Conroy...). It was beautiful and very true to character when compared to Batman in both comic books and animated media. This was the weathered, broken Bat that fans like us have seen a few times before, but never on the big screen. Everyone is a critic though, and sadly most of them have only ever seen Batman in the movies...

It sucks that he's gone, I think it sucks even more when he not only didn't get the chance to be in his own directed solo movie, but to know what was planned for his character and that he never got a proper conclusion compared to Bale is really sad.

My opinion maybe unpolished but his version dark and ruthless portrayal of Batman was what I wanted to see from a long time. Not undermining other versions but it was a breath of fresh air. I really liked The Dark Knight Returns and when I heard Mr. Ben Affleck's version will draw inspiration from there, I was excited and I was satisfied with BvS Batman. Maybe unpopular but not a rare opinion, I believe.
Don't worry, you have your own vision of the character, and that's good, I'm personally very indifferent of him being ruthless or killing and I think it adds more depth in the character

So hate can turn to love. Hated the design to cast him as Batman but he proved me and a lot of people wrong and I loved his version. Shame he couldn't pull of a Batman movie.

He seems pretty down to earth, shame Ben won't continue with his role as Batman!!
Although there was various critism regarding his role, I believe he did a great job!!
