The amateur strategist in me sees it as an effective attack. Either drive people out of the Faith due to the sheer ridiculousness or mire them in a doctrine that renders them completely ineffective. The Christian in me says we must combat this with sound doctrine.
The Bible itself warns against this, and by the examples you mention here it is clear why. It is an extremely effective tactic that the devil likes to use

As a new Christian I was warned how some translations can be problematic, if not downright demonic. I was naive enough to doubt that could truly be the case. But by going to regular bible study I've been surprised by how different different translations can be. And usually the differences are not so much thematic, but grammatical. But even the differences between NIV and ESV are at times so different that they can convey entirely different images of the scene being described... The suggestion toward the beginning about the MSG being good for beginners, I'd scrap that idea. The other, more accurate versions are so easy to read, why dilute the message. Unless your target audience is small children, send newcomers to the clearest waters. They taste better.
As a lifelong Christian, first, glad to hear you accepted Jesus! Second, I struggled with reading the Bible for years due to the difficulty of understanding the way in which everything was written. It wasn't until I was 30 that I learned I had autism and I think that made it harder to grasp some of the concepts and tone. Recently I learned of a translation called God's word and so far it is easier for me to understand than KJV or NIV. Somrle translations are just better for some people than others... within reason.
"God appeared to me and told me to create a new bible" "Hey! I've seen this one before!" This is what happens when you hijack charismatic teachings and go from being filled with the Holy Spirit to being filled with the spirit of some dude who's high on his own farts. The sad thing is, many people don't really understand how harmful this version is, and they don't even know who Brian Simmons is. They just see it as being really vivid and dramatic, so they use it without knowing any better.
As a Catholic I like that we don’t have too many approved translations, because it keeps things consistent. We have like the NAB, NABRE, and the RSV-CE. That’s it. The Church is really specific with how she likes her Bibles.
6:00 i was on a train under Boston one day and i read a sign. In English and Spanish it said "emergency exit in the back" except the words in Spanish, of which there were way more" literally translated to something along the lines of. "The place where you go to in case of emergencies its located all the way in the back." I'm definitely exaggerating, this was over 10 years ago, but the sign I'm sure still exists. Also, that's not what Brian here is doing, i just wanted to chime in
@@iwikepops I'm not even close to fluent in Spanish but i have an honors Latin background and i can find my way around France and Quebec. Enough to get a good sense for what each word might mean.

Revelation 22:18 of the Bible warns that God will add plagues to anyone who adds to the words of the prophecy in the book of Revelation. The verse says, "If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues (afflictions, calamities) which are written in this book"
1:17 THE INNER MECHANICIANS OF MY MIND ARE AN ENIGMA 2:47 as a former cult member i can confirm (i wasn’t really a member but i did witness exactly this)
Of course a *Wingaling* would trust these dishonest "scholars" over a prophet, and we KNOW Brian is a prophet; look at all the amazing things he's told us that he's done! Do you expect me to believe he just made a lot of stuff up to try and give credibility to his work? A true prophet would *never*do that!
I guess bro, hasn't heard of Revelation 22:18-19 [18] I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, [19] and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
The first thing I thought of when I heard about the passion translation was Matthew 7:15 (NLT) The verse reads "Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves"
I do find it fitting that it’s called the passion translation. If I remember correctly there’s several passages where God finally stops reaching out to people and leaves them without the Holy Spirit and describes it as leaving them to their own passions.
Daniel C recommended your video here, and I'm grateful he did. This was an enjoyable time learning what a steaming heap of bovine scatology this fairy tale using a spattering of Christian-ese is from your perspective. Witty and informative, I like it. I also enjoyed Melissa Dougherty's marvelous video on what is great about TPT. Thanks for this, keep up the good work! Sincerely, Kathy, a new fan and subscriber from Alberta, Canada.
Welcome, Kathy! Daniel is a dear brother of mine so I’m glad to see that. Very grateful to God that you are here. We could sure use some of that Canadian weather out here in Arizona! God bless you!
The passion translation is scary for the same reason that it would be scary if you bought a bag of rice and saw that it had over 300 ingredients, instead of one ingredient: rice.
By far, one of the funniest Christian commentary video I have ever seen, nice work, ever since I got my King James Bible, I didn’t understand, until I got to read it, and I learned about the other translations, I have to say the Passion Translation is possibly the goofiest translation of all times.

I'm surprised you don't have more subscribers, but you definitely just earned one
Made my day! Glad you’re here
"God appeared to me and told me to create a new bible"
"Hey! I've seen this one before!"
This is what happens when you hijack charismatic teachings and go from being filled with the Holy Spirit to being filled with the spirit of some dude who's high on his own farts.
The sad thing is, many people don't really understand how harmful this version is, and they don't even know who Brian Simmons is. They just see it as being really vivid and dramatic, so they use it without knowing any better.
There are many errors in Pentecostalism.
The idea of “downloads” into one’s brain is common with alien experiencers, meaning, demon visits.
I see your Cultish recommendations at 10:00 Nice! They're great!

Friends of mine
Also, that's not what Brian here is doing, i just wanted to chime in
That’s right on the money, I know this because I used to read warning signs in Spanish for fun
@@iwikepops I'm not even close to fluent in Spanish but i have an honors Latin background and i can find my way around France and Quebec. Enough to get a good sense for what each word might mean.
@@evanthesquirrel That’s really impressive. Have you read the Bible in Latin? Catholics would love you 😎
@@iwikepops I'm still working on my first read through in English. I have made real progress these past few months though i skipped the second half of numbers and Deuteronomy and I'm at 2nd Samuel now. I've also read the gospels, acts, some of the epistles,
Job, and jonah all the way through.
That’s really amazing! I hope the Holy Spirit reveals to you edifying things in your reading. God Bless 🙏
Hey, this is the best content I've seen on RUclips in a while. I love these video essays and theology-it's perfect. Keep making more of this, man.
Huge compliment! Thank you brother
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Galatians 1:8
Your videos are really good. This is the first actually good Christian video essay channel I have found, and I really appreciate it. After watching this video, I went and watched all of your other videos, and they were all amazing. I was very sad when I found out you had less than ten videos. Subscribed.
Thanks man! I’m really stoked to get more videos out! Been a crazy few weeks on my end so production has been delayed but I’m working hard to get it done 🙏 thankful for your support!
Fun fact, NIV was originally considered a paraphrase
Makes sense, it's a very poor translation. I like to switch between the KJV/NKJV, NASB, ESV and MEV.
NIV is and always considered a 'thought for thought' translation, not a word for word. You are confusing thought for thought with paraphrase.
@@richardthelionheart01 when it was being developed, it was considered a paraphrase. Today it is viewed as a translation. We are talking way back when, not now
The fact that you actually left a link to a carbon monoxide detector in the description made my day
Love the editing!
Thank you!
@@dizzydisciple you are welcome
You make great videos man! God bless!
Thank you! God bless you bro
Like every insane alleged prophet of the bible who had stated experiencing similar visions. Only one more...
Yes, insane men like Daniel and Isaiah which predicted the history of the next few hundred years. Wow, what a crazy coincidence!
Thanks for the Summary, you really took one for the team, jumping into the rabbit hole so we don't have to.
Thanks dude! Glad it was helpful!
When i first gave my life to Jesus an inlaw who was of the faith told me to read this translation, thats so evil now i know.
Revelation 22:18 of the Bible warns that God will add plagues to anyone who adds to the words of the prophecy in the book of Revelation. The verse says, "If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues (afflictions, calamities) which are written in this book"
1:54 literally what mormonism is
expected you to have like 300k+ subscribers with this quality of video, shocked me when i say 5k bro, keep it up!
Huge compliment! 🫡 thank you
1:17 THE INNER MECHANICIANS OF MY MIND ARE AN ENIGMA
2:47 as a former cult member i can confirm (i wasn’t really a member but i did witness exactly this)
As a former cult leader (my dogs and children are forced to follow me) I can attest to this as well
Oh dear! And I hear it from the pulpit all the time.
I think we're in trouble
9:18 hot koolaid?? I MADE THIS FOR YOU!!
Dude YES I tried to use that clip! I couldn’t find a high enough quality
I MADE IT BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!
Just wanna say I think the thumbnail is awesome lol 👏👏👏
Of course a *Wingaling* would trust these dishonest "scholars" over a prophet, and we KNOW Brian is a prophet; look at all the amazing things he's told us that he's done!
Do you expect me to believe he just made a lot of stuff up to try and give credibility to his work?
A true prophet would *never*do that!
Never!
@@dizzydisciple that's right!
That's how we KNOW he's for real!
Regarding that sentence of the church having to call the fire brigade, I would love to see or hear some witnesses of this event.
I guess bro, hasn't heard of Revelation 22:18-19
[18] I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book,
[19] and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
Bro I like your humor, I subbed! 😆😆
So glad someone appreciates my dryness lol
@@dizzydisciple lol
You lost me at, he calls the holy spirit she/her 😂
The first thing I thought of when I heard about the passion translation was Matthew 7:15 (NLT)
The verse reads "Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves"
Well put
Umm but my Christian school uses this bible app for our devotions :/
The app is fine. It’s the Passion Translation that’s the problem
@@dizzydisciple ohh
@@dizzydiscipleI think you might want to change it too. “The worst Bible translation ever”
i really appreciate the fact you actually put a link for a carbon monoxide tester in the description
truly a man of integrity
The Life of Brian......while the song "Always look on the bright side of Life" is playing in my head
THAT movie and many Pentecostal "preachers" are an insult to the truth of God.
He's not a prophet, he's a very naughty boy
Thanks so much for calling this out!
It’s people like this that make people reject the truth
I do find it fitting that it’s called the passion translation. If I remember correctly there’s several passages where God finally stops reaching out to people and leaves them without the Holy Spirit and describes it as leaving them to their own passions.
Capping it off with AI generated b-roll is a nice relief from anger. Thanks for that.
4:46
Caught me off guard with the " doo doo " part 😂
Keep these videos coming man! Your editing/video quality is great and your channel will grow. A lot of people are waking up to the charismatic cult.
Most translations don't have

Matthew 18:11.
Matthew 23:14.
Mark 7:16.
Mark 9:44 and 9:46.
Mark 11:26.

Luke 17:36.
Acts 15:34
Acts 24:6-8
Acts 28:29

He’s genuinely a great dude. Definitely a nerd but not JUST a nerd haha. Love him
Did I just find a great video documentary channel that is Christian! Subscribed!!
Thanks!! Stoked you’re here :)
Why are the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy missing in TPT?
Daniel C recommended your video here, and I'm grateful he did.
This was an enjoyable time learning what a steaming heap of bovine scatology this fairy tale using a spattering of Christian-ese is from your perspective. Witty and informative, I like it.
I also enjoyed Melissa Dougherty's marvelous video on what is great about TPT.
Thanks for this, keep up the good work!
Sincerely, Kathy,

The passion translation is scary for the same reason that it would be scary if you bought a bag of rice and saw that it had over 300 ingredients, instead of one ingredient: rice.
Or a bottle of water!
By far, one of the funniest Christian commentary video I have ever seen, nice work, ever since I got my King James Bible, I didn’t understand, until I got to read it, and I learned about the other translations, I have to say the Passion Translation is possibly the goofiest translation of all times.
Thanks homie! Goofy is a spot on description lol
