Dude can clearly put the ball where wants, his bat speed looks crazy? Hes got a 950 ops with only 1 HR and is ahead of Judge in WAR so far this season?!?
Oddly enough, since MLB can track bat speed now, he's near the bottom of that list. Bat speed isn't everything, his control of the bat and simply being able to make contact is elite.
It's the analytics approach, they try to make everyone into the same player and have the same approach every time at the plate instead of situational hitting.
I'd rather have Arraez than Pete Alonso and I'm a Mets fan. Guys like Arraez terrorize pitchers more than home run hitters. Homerun hitters are easy outs.
@@vin6203 Pete Alonso is leading the MLB in Hr's where has that gotten the Mets? I don't it's ok to have low batting especially if you're striking out all the time when you're not hitting homeruns.

He’s hating on the “launch angle swing” which is the right way to swing a bat and actually is what arraez does which is actually getting on plane with the baseball as early as possible in the swing which is the real line drive swing and creates hard hit line drives and fly balls that leads to more HR and Extra base hits. Not taking a direct path to the ball… he’s an old timer that’s stuck in the 80s and 90s and refuses to adapt.
@@AnthonyChristunas I think he's trying to say the guys who aren't having success with the "launch angle swing" should be changing their approach to line drives up the middle and having that old school lineup of contact hitters and homerun hitters. Guys like Aaron judge and Pete Alonso I don't think he has a problem with them having a "launch angle swing" because they can go yard on any given day. Also he talked a lot about the youth needing to hit line drives which is hard when they idolize major leaguers who try to hit homeruns every time.
@@AnthonyChristunas Same thing in basketball. The kids try to jack up 3s because Steph could. Instead they need to learn how to dribble into the lane and make shots within the 3pt line. But it's hard to teach them these basic fundamentals when they idolize nba players and only concentrate on them shooting 3s when these nba players have a whole lot more to their game and most likely learned the basic fundamentals of dribbling and making shots inside the 3pt line before they actually started adding the 3 shot to their game.
Yeah, 10 years ago if you hit .220 for more than a month or two you were cut. Now .240 seems like a "good" average, and most teams are lucky if they have even ONE guy who touches .300...when it used to be the top 3 hitters in the lineup were all around .300
1. Whatever the kid is comfortable doing let him do it if he is successful 2. Best to teach swinging down at a young age, answer is simple, kids are small and weak and frankly little league games don’t mean anything so they should just focus on making contact with the ball (kinda an important skill) 3. At least by high school a kid should start looking to elevate

It's true that home runs are more effective but contact hitting to all parts of the field takes much more skill imo and it's so fun to watch. It's kinda like watching the most accurate sharp shooters in basketball
I feel like your comment often applies to Chris Taylor (Dodgers). He clearly has bat speed, but I wish it could just be put in play instead of fence-aiming.
@Sable Boom Major League hitting coaches flat out aren't telling players to "swing up on the ball". The "launch angle swing" isn't at all swinging up on the ball, hitting coaches teach getting on plane with the ball as soon as possible in the swing path. Being perfectly on time and perfect contact would be line drive right at the pitchers head, under it by half an inch? Homer. Slightly late = right center. Slightly early = left center. The so called launch angle swing shrinks the margin for error.
This was the dumbest trade that the Twins have made in years, you can’t trade elite contact ability like this for an average starting pitcher. Now they’re wondering why they can’t score anymore lol.
I bet they were telling him to drive the ball and he was resisting. The MLB strikeout machine won't stop until the fundamentals are paid attention to once again. I can't watch these games since about 2005.
Hooray Billy. Old school baseball is what the game is missing. Launch angle and showcase hitting is what is ruining the game. Kids trying to put back spin on a ball. Hit the ball deep, keep the barrel in the zone.
Yes, because in order for a batted ball to be considered a barrel it has to have an exit velocity of >98 mph, which he does not have. That is the whole point of the video. If you aren't able to drive the ball with power, aim to hit singles. This is a useless point. Even with his *2% barrel rate, he has an OPS+ of 161.
I agree with teaching kids to hit liners but at the major league level, if your star player can’t drive a batter in from first because he hits singles, or he can’t be in scoring position when he himself is at home plate, he won’t be as valuable as the other top hitters. He may be the best pure hitter but he’s arguably not the most effective
What’s funny is that Arraez has hit one homer and he managed to hit for the cycle with that one homer lol.
Bengie Molina hit 2 triples in the last 3 seasons of his career, and one of them was for a cycle
Honestly i think once he hit the homer he decided to go for the cycle.
