That was a wild ride. Can’t believe one freaking bit corrupted that ROM.

Man that was a lot of work! Really felt you at 1:26:58 - laughing at the frustration... just to get one working system, you wind up fixing a chain of things 😂 Awesome catch on the ROM. Nice restoration!

I expected smoke from the power supply, not the network card!😆

the network card I have in my IIci can't connect to a modern router. I had to use a 10base-t hub to connect it, then connect the hub to my modern router for it to work and connect router to get internet. That may be why that card doesn't work. Also could be that missing part but if you have an old hub you may want to try that first.

Love your vids. I need a floppy drive if you’ve still got any?

What's happening here is that the card's port autodetect is getting confused by the NWAY negotiation and switching back and forth between AUI and twisted-pair. I had the Mac LC version of this card years ago, and I ended up rewiring it (poorly) to force the DP83902 to use the TP port. I think a pin needs to be grounded.

Okay, I found it. The AUI-TPI select (pin 72 on PLCC, pin 75 on PQFP) needs to be grounded. There may be a trace going to the Asante gate array that needs to be cut as well.

Its funny, I have not had this problem on any other 83902 and 83932 cards. Just this one. Always the question of... why? Thanks for the advice! I will have to try it!
