Try using a double uni for the line to line knot. Its never broken on me and I use it on all of my rigs
I’ve used it in the past. It’s good but takes longer to tie and a bigger knot so it’s harder on your guides imo

i'm gunna go ahead and assume that since you didnt post the release that it didnt go well, hopefully atleast this fish taught you what you shouldnt do when handling a respectable fish. beaching them out like that is risky on a fish you plan to release. that was a stud fish, congratulations!
Great fish. I was in some trees last week getting fish out. Do you like curing eggs with your special recipe or the typically stuff in stores?
I like Pautskes egg curing products. I don’t get too crazy for salmon skein, but I will add scents on occasion and I’m pretty careful on how I cure

Future tutorial video idea: we saw your rig, but I'd like to see how you mend your line with a spinning set up for floating skein. Seem a lot of people use centerpin or bait casters, and I struggle with the spinning set up. I have yet to ever get a bobber down tbh, hoping this year can be my first. All my kings in years past have been hardware/spinners, drifting bag/bead(let's be real...flossing), or skein under a slip bobber off the pier. Really want that skein bite this year!

I'd highly recommend changing your bumper leader to mono. Fluoro sinks you do not want your bobber on that. Itll create drag and pull your float down stream faster. Plus when using braid the addition of mono will add some stretch.

I’ve fished flouro bumpers and mono, there’s no difference when you’re running a 15/20g float. Run either. Maybe if you’re running an 8g in slow water but you’re overthinking flouro sink rate on a rig like this
@@joem8875 I disagree entirely. If anything the lighter fluoro would mend better. But again fluoros do not float like monofilament. In addition it is proven that the thicker the Fluorocarbon the faster the sink rate. And the added bonus of some stretch is a win win with Monofilament.
I’ve thought about it man but with how much skein tends to rise because of its buoyancy, adding mono that floats won’t help get my bait down. You’re also adding increased line diameter lbtst for lbtst. I’ll play around with mono to see what’s up tho.. thanks for watching too! Always like discussing this stuff btw
