This video will show you how to create and run the 'Hiren's BootCD 15.2' on a USB thumb drive in Ubuntu 12.10 Linux. The Hiren's CD has many features including the removing or bypassing of a windows password, using mini xp and linux modes, virus removal tools, disk and backup utilities and many useful DOS and BIOS tools, all conveniently placed on one CD-ROM.

This CD is functional with windows NT/2000/XP/Vista/7 and linux (but not Mac).
Booting from CD Troubleshooting Guide:
If your computer does not boot from the CD automatically, then you will need to enter the boot selection menu and choose the 'CD' or 'CDROM' (or something similar) to boot from the CD, like shown in this video. The key on your keyboard that you have to press to get to the boot selection menu varies depending on your computer. The key on my computer is F2 but it may be different on yours. The key for your computer is often shown at the bottom of the first screen that appears when you turn on your computer; something like: Press 'F2' to enter boot menu. In the unlikely event that you can't work out what your boot menu key is or your computer doesn't have one, then checkout this extensive guide on the Hiren's BootCD official website:

They need to be able to boot off the USB port otherwise it will not work. Really the only way to really know if it will work is to try it.

you should rather copy syslinux.cfg. and copy in main directory of USB and not in system root. [ooh the comment was two years old. i am too late. more than IE browser]
