@@DD-sr9xm I can't agree with that, sorry. It was previously named the "Lazy Double L" ranch by the two attorney's who owned it as hobby ranch. Louie came with the ranch as one of it's most valuable assets when they themselves bought it and he stayed with it when they sold it to Neil. Neil renamed it "The Broken Arrow Ranch". Johnny Cash - righteous! Among the best classic country musicians. His deep voice and Neil's high vocals would have made a unique and groundbreaking duet.
I love this intimate performance with just Neil & his guitar (harmonica). He was only 27 when he recorded this song as a young man. Now he is an older man at 77 years old. Neil is a very talented musician, singer & songwriter. He was with the groups Buffalo Springfield & Crosby, Stills & Nash in the later 60's. Also had his own group with Crazy Horse for a few years. Neil went solo & has had so many great songs over the years. The albums "After The Gold Rush" & "Harvest" from the 70's are considered 2 of his best.
I got to see him recently, well, within the last 5 years, and that’s exactly what it was. Just him and his guitar. Well, guitars. He was surrounded by them. Had about half a dozen around him and his chair. It was amazing! So glad I had that opportunity!
Neil Young’s early music like “Old Man” was one of my favorite songs in middle school back in the early 1970’s. His Harvest album is still won of my favorites. Neil has so many great songs to recommend. He started out in a band called "Buffalo Springfield" and wrote and sang "Mr Soul". Some other songs are "Cinnamon Girl" and "Everybody Knows This Nowhere" and "Down By the River". His albums from the early 70s include "After the Gold Rush" and "Harvest" albums which rank are up there with the best in rock. Check out "Don't Let It Bring You Own" and "Southern Man".

Hard to believe he and Rick James were in a successful band together up in Canada. Rick being the lead vocalist. But then he had to come back to the states and face the music of his going to Canada and avoid Vietnam. Neil Young...always true to himself.
Living legend. And he still creates tons of music. Have seen him live multiple times. You never know what Neil you are gonna see. Folk rock, hard rock, jam rock, protest rock. But its always worth it.
I remember when Neil Young was part of a special performance for Africa. David Foster, the producer said to Neil, "you are a bit flat" and Neil responded, "that's my thing". That might have been what your friend was talking about.
Record companies and producers wanted him to write and play guitar, but not sing his own songs, they wanted to get someone else to sing. He turned them all down until he found a producer that would let him play and sing
Neil Young Gave The Band, CSN&Y his song, "Expecting To Fly," right before he quit the band. Crosby later said he felt stupid for being surprised at Neil's departure, as he said goodbye in the song.

I haven't stopped listening. I'm sure you never heard. Luke the Drifter, " The Bad Girl Down the Street". What a great story teller and a tear jerker. That makes one look at gossip differently.
I don't know where to start. I should write a book about my experience with Neil and his music. I was 19 when I first heard one of Neil's songs. When I say one of Neil's songs, because I went to a dance hall in Houston one summer night in '70, and a very popular local rock / psychedelic band was performing - Fever Tree. As I walked in, they were playing "Nowadays Clancy Cant Even Sing".... As I walked around the place, something about those lyrics and kudos to Michael Keller the lead singer. He had such a raspy bluesy voice, the lyrics just seem to capture my attention. At the end of the night and as an encore they performed the song again and this time I was at the side of stage, totally mesmerized by the song. It was a few months later, as I was listening on the radio, a broadcast of Neil at Royce Hall, that I found out it was his song! Before that evening I thought it was one of Fever Tree's. That evening, Jan. 30, 1971, my birthday, became a major game changer for me. That concert of Neil's and especially when he sung Sugar Mountain was THAT moment in my life that took me in a musical direction I am so blessed to have experienced the 7 decades with Neil and so many others from that era. Sebs, if you do a deep dive into Neil's music, its going to be a very deep dive. His discography is immense! However that being said, there is a song he performed on his Live Weld album, in '91, that's actually a cover of his dear friend.... Bob Dylan. Its "Blowin in the Wind" His guitar playing, the soulful emotion he puts into that song is other- worldly. If there ever will be a song and how its performed by Neil on that album, to become a global anthem for world peace it would be his electric version of Bob's prophetic lyrics. Peace out ruclips.net/video/fjaZTJkwLRs/видео.htmlsi=2WcgnQqQCaoZeKyS

One of my favorite songs. The Harvest album is fabulous. The Needle and the Damage Done will rip your heart out. His album with Crazy Horse is amazing. Cinnamon Girl is a great song on it. It's a rabbit hole worth digging into
One name…”Cream’ so nice to hear young people appreciate my generations music…and yes,no modifying their voices …even earlier..50’sthey had to sing the entire song in one take…
Remember watching him perform in concert in the sixties very talented and what a lyrical master great song writing. One of s few that write, play and sing his own music.
Wife here. I am a king time Neil fan. Heard him at age 12yrs old and was hooked. Keep digging he has a very large Catalog . Lots of styles.
Peace out

I am 75 and Neil Young is my favorite all time artist.
Loved that you've done Neil Young, he's one of my favourites, but I nearly spat my tea out at the Paul McCartney comment 😂 May I respectfully suggest you go back and take another look? I seem to have spent half my life saying "I didn't know Lennon/McCartney wrote that"!
Plus Lennon and Mccartney changed music for ever. Every musician that came after them were influenced by them to this day. They opened the door to modern music. Sergeant peppers changed everything.
If you want one you have probably heard, it's heart of gold. I believe they were on the Same album. He also sang that at the same concert as this performance.
The beauty of this song this performance its still relevant to whats happening in our lives your life.
All songs are poetry...
