- The U.S. Marshals Service released updated renderings of what missing Alcatraz fugitives would look like with hopes to put them back behind bars. A former FBI agent says releasing these renderings signals there is a potentially credible tip that at least one of the convicts is still alive.

A bank robber is a pretty serious criminal. But I do agree with all the cases out there and the limited amount of investigators there are to help crack them all, this one seems to be at a lower ranking.

Assuming they made it to Brazil, it makes sense that they would escape to south America because staying in the united states after their escape, it would have been just a matter of time before they got picked up by the fbi.
What i dont understand is that they were career criminals. After their escape, you'd think they (or at least one of them) would have returned to a life of crime. It sounds as if they all became law abiding citizens after their escape.
If so, I can imagine why. Perhaps the thought of spending time in a south american prison scared them straight. As i understand it, compared to the hellhole prisons of south America, alcatraz was a country club paradise.
There is a plausible theory they used the stolen cable reel, to tie their raft to the rudder of the daily supply boat, and got towed halfway across the bay to a pre-arranged waiting vessel.
However if they had succeeded they would have skipped the country to somewhere with no extradition treaty, and sold their story for millions.

My mom was pregnant with me when this happened. She was no where near California at the time. (She told me). If they made it and if they are still alive, they are probably in nursing homes. This story never gets old. Also I have heard many different stories about the escape. Great job on the video.

If they are still alive after 60 years, they should be given a pardon. But I think that the government would have a vested interested in keeping the fact that they successfully escaped a secret, so I doubt that it will ever happen.
