For all these top actors/actresses, if you work long enough in the c-drama industry, chances are, you'll work with each other at some point. I don't really see it as anything unusual.

I've just finished watching this after I had seen Love like the galaxy and I have to say the chemistry between the two leads is not there at all. Not when you put it up against LLTG Yang Yang is even better as a partner with Lusi they were perfection together. Luis co star in Date in the kitchen is also one hell of a duo However when you put The General and Shaoshong together they set that set on fire it was beautiful to watch and left quite an impact behind it
Why do Lusi and LLTG fans always come into this drama comparing the leads? Is it jealousy? I saw LLTG first and while the chemistry was fine, LLTG had one of the worst and most frustrating relationships I'd ever seen between two leads. The main female character was so terrible, it left a negative impact on me and ruined the love story. She was so immature, all about herself the entire time. She refused to change and to better herself, and she never even saw any good in the male lead unless others forced her to until the very last minutes of the drama, and that was only after he shouldered all the blame while she victimized herself from beginning to end. Buyi and Shao Shang were one of those couples that should have never gotten together in the first place and prob should have gone their separate ways in the end. While there wasn't any really intimate scenes here in the Long Ballad, I still felt the chemistry even in just the stares between Sun and Changge and, best of all, they have one of the most understanding, supportive, and healthy relationships with each other despite being enemies. Their relationship was actually inspiring and enjoyable, not annoying like LLTG.
i think the characters are very different for their chemistry to be really compared. as far as the actors go, they played their part well. personally, i don't think The Long Ballad was focused around romance as Love Like the Galaxy was. Zisheng and Shaoshang's relationship had a difference of power dynamic. as far as things went, she was a general's daughter who was raised terribly and much like a commoner and he was equivalent to the prince. while on the other hand, Li Changge was a princess raised like a prince and no less than a man, and Ashile Sun was a prince with his own army and tribe. there was no difference of power dynamic between them even when Changge was on the run because they're equally strong on the battlefield. and they save each other. two very different kinds of love portrayed very differently. but yes, as far as pairings go I think Leo Wu and Zhao Lusi look absolutely gorgeous together. their gazes are sizzling, some of their more intimate scenes give me goosebumps. they're a power couple. while I liked Leo Wu and Dilraba's characters together, it was because they're great at playing their roles. i didn't get the same sizzling feeling from them.

Lusi fans can write whatever they want, but nothing will change the fact that Dilraba is one of the best actresses in China. Long Ballad is a great show, and Changge and Sun make a decent couple, but Wu Lei and Lusi have more chemistry in the romance department, imho. I was so happy after watching this one to find out they had their own show together too, I felt the chemistry between them so much in these short scenes that I actually searched out to see if they were in something else together without knowing it was LLTG. Zhao Lusi is a great actress too, I love her.

Leyan and Hao du had a weaker kiss scene(they were leaning in for a kiss and the scene simply faded out) but I don't see you complaining. To me, Changge and Sun still had the best relationship and the strongest love story in TLB because of how well they treated one another and because of the things that they were willing to do for each other. I also don't know what you mean by saying that Sun and Changge make a "decent" couple. Sun and Changge are one of my favorites ever. They actually make a much, much better couple than Shao Shang and LBY in LLTG. They're non-toxic, they're in sync, they understand each other, they're both mature characters, they're supportive of one another through action(not just words that they can't follow through on)...and most importantly, they actually have a strong foundation for a good relationship because they admire, respect, believe in, and view one another as equals. There is no pettiness, blaming, or grudge-holding between them. Shao Shang and LBY's relationship is so negative and one-sided, it took Shao Shang until the last 5 minutes of the drama(and 5 long years later) to even say that the person she supposedly loves is a good man. Was so hard for her to see any good in him all drama long, and it led her to punishing him for 5 long years. I mean, she had far more faith in all the bad guys than LBY. Her maturity level is simply not a good fit for LBY. In order for me to feel chemistry between two people, I have to _enjoy_ their relationship, and I honestly hated the one-way relationship between the leads in LLTG so much, I could not feel the chemistry. After so much trauma and negativity, I just wanted it to end, and I felt they really should have gone their own separate ways in the end. I watched LLTG first, and while I could not enjoy the relationship between the leads, I really loved Wu Lei as an actor, so I was happy to find TLB afterwards, a drama where Wu Lei's character was able to have a positive, healthy, and beautiful relationship with his female lead counterpart. I've since then watched pretty much all of Wu Lei's more recent dramas and films, and I have to say that out of all of his projects, for me, LLTG is the one where his character has the worst and least likable relationship with the female lead character. Lusi is a fine actress, but I simply hated her character Shao Shang. She's prob my least liked female lead character ever so I was quite sad to hear Lusi mention that she has a lot in common in RL with that character.

Actually, Wu Lei and Dilraba have more compatible facial features. Both have smaller, slim faces. Lusi has a round, wider face. I also didn't see any age gap between Baba and LeiLei. They look really good together.
I've always been confused about this scene. Hadn't Changge heard that AZhun (Ashile Sun) known her true identity? And still pretending? Leyah called her many times by her real name so Ashile had heard it for sure
No, Changge doesn't know that Sun already knows her true identity. He discovered her true identity because he heard Wang Junkuo calling her by her official name: "Princess Yongning", but he kept that knowledge to himself. And Leyan called her "Changge", which is a nickname only her family and people close to her know and use with her. Random people on the streets would not associate that nickname with the exiled Princess of Tang. Even if Sun heard Leyan calling her that, it wouldn't mean anything to him, and Changge wouldn't think that Sun would suddenly know her true identity and association with the royal family just from hearing a nickname.
A'Sun would have kicked Hao Du's @ss in a fair fight, but he's very wise and smart to use Leyan to free Changge since Hao Du could have hurt Changge in the process.
...not really. Dilraba is actually quite young looking for her age because she has a baby face. If Lusi was dressed like a man with little to no makeup on, she would look like an aunt to you as well.

They're non-toxic, they're in sync, they understand each other, they're both mature characters, they're supportive of one another through action(not just words that they can't follow through on)...and most importantly, they actually have a strong foundation for a good relationship because they admire, respect, believe in, and view one another as equals. There is no pettiness, blaming, or grudge-holding between them. Shao Shang and LBY's relationship is so negative and one-sided, it took Shao Shang until the last 5 minutes of the drama(and 5 long years later) to even say that the person she supposedly loves is a good man. Was so hard for her to see any good in him all drama long, and it led her to punishing him for 5 long years. I mean, she had far more faith in all the bad guys than LBY. Her maturity level is simply not a good fit for LBY. In order for me to feel chemistry between two people, I have to _enjoy_ their relationship, and I honestly hated the one-way relationship between the leads in LLTG so much, I could not feel the chemistry. After so much trauma and negativity, I just wanted it to end, and I felt they really should have gone their own separate ways in the end. I watched LLTG first, and while I could not enjoy the relationship between the leads, I really loved Wu Lei as an actor, so I was happy to find TLB afterwards, a drama where Wu Lei's character was able to have a positive, healthy, and beautiful relationship with his female lead counterpart. I've since then watched pretty much all of Wu Lei's more recent dramas and films, and I have to say that out of all of his projects, for me, LLTG is the one where his character has the worst and least likable relationship with the female lead character. Lusi is a fine actress, but I simply hated her character Shao Shang. She's prob my least liked female lead character ever so I was quite sad to hear Lusi mention that she has a lot in common in RL with that character.

Actually, Wu Lei and Dilraba have more compatible facial features. Both have smaller, slim faces. Lusi has a round, wider face. I also didn't see any age gap between Baba and LeiLei. They look really good together.

I've always been confused about this scene. Hadn't Changge heard that AZhun (Ashile Sun) known her true identity? And still pretending? Leyah called her many times by her real name so Ashile had heard it for sure
No, Changge doesn't know that Sun already knows her true identity. He discovered her true identity because he heard Wang Junkuo calling her by her official name: "Princess Yongning", but he kept that knowledge to himself. And Leyan called her "Changge", which is a nickname only her family and people close to her know and use with her. Random people on the streets would not associate that nickname with the exiled Princess of Tang. Even if Sun heard Leyan calling her that, it wouldn't mean anything to him, and Changge wouldn't think that Sun would suddenly know her true identity and association with the royal family just from hearing a nickname.
