Although I have stated that I am biased towards the central core of the city, there are definitely many advantages to areas further out into the suburbs. Personally I have great memories of my grandparent's place in Twin Brooks, neat area - especially the ravine. I appreciate you subscribing, cheers!

So this is where my history education as a Canadian didn't follow through. I've always loved history, but when you said Giovanni Caboto, my mind momentarily stopped LOL and I thought, "that's like John Cabot...as in "the trail'"😂 Seriously, I'm pretty old now but this is the first time I realized he was Italian. I'd like to see more about LRT stations when I was in Vancouver there were some stops little more dangerous and some stops safer that could be neat video unless u did it already. Please don’t forget the Callingwood neighbourhood. I bought a condo here years ago because I could walk to the grocery store, the daycare and still work downtown with express bus service! Didn’t need and couldn’t afford a car.
Yeah there are definitely a lot of good neighborhoods I didn't list, and I may do more Edmonton neighborhoods down the road to include some areas further out from the central core. I actually lived in Ormsby Place years ago and that area has a decent amount of stuff within walking distance - that YMCA is a great fitness facility too. Cheers mate, have a great weekend!
Calgary has no old edgy areas like Edmonton does. Chinatown used to be vibrant all night with restaurants open till 5 a.m. 96 st in Boyle was sooo bad in the 70's and 80's. We used to drive down it for entertainment as a teenager 😂

@@strangenorth Totally agree. I'm surprised it hasn't been gentrified. But Edmonton seems slow in that. I think we have the potential to be the 4th best city in Canada. Whyte Ave needs some clean up. Too many for lease signs and too much social disorder.
Whyte ave has gone downhill slightly in my estimation, more open social disorder. Honestly I even miss things like Chapters and Starbucks. I do think that downtown/Oliver/124 street areas are getting more popular and taking a bit of the "buzz" away from Strathcona. 124 street in particular is steadily improving, even some decent little regular outdoor markets

Confronted a guy trying to break into my neighbors house just before Xmas and he attacked me with brass knuckles or big rings or something. Also had attempted home invasions and one night a guy walked in my house cause I left the door open. That's just two examples of constant serious disorder

Would be cool to try even one class there just to see the inside! I always thought that place looked like the classic urban martial arts dojo out of a Hollywood movie - an authentic little gym in a rough area of town

Too bad city council nixed the gondola. The old powerplant was supposed to be developed into a retail/food complex. like what Baltimore did with theirs. The gondola would have linked whyte ave with rossdale and then downtown. And it was a private development with guarantees of no tax payer cost. Unbelivable kick in n.... for Edmonton losing this.

Edmonton's East is always underrated... Grittier? Absolutely but most places are...
I agree, I think the east side has so many great areas that can get overshadowed by Whyte and downtown!
