      Do a little risk-reward evaluation, but get off the butt and say yes to fun sounding things outside of your comfort zone.
      Don't just be a tourist in those activities - immerse yourself.
      Avoid powerlines and barbed wire fences.

      You’re welcome! Now you have to do a 2 year video, too. The Bay Area fledglings should be making a trip for H2s to Andy Jackson airpark for a week or two this year. After getting your landings down, you should work on foot launching at lookout mountain, and maybe you can join them.

      @@17999msl ya as soon as I get truck tow rating from Steve at Blue Sky my plan is to go out to Lookout and hopefully get foot launch cleared and fly the mountain! I started end of last summer and as soon as winter came hg activity kind of stopped but now I’m so excited the season is here!! Well for me a couple more weeks of patience I think. Will you be at KH’s Spectacular next month?

    Nice! I found out that arriving with 1/4 speed bar in to the ground and flaring arms up instead of forward made my life happier.

      @@17999msl if so (practicong), you eventually will.....it takes a bit of gut to flare hard and up as it is easy to think the glider will whoosh up and then dive nose down, but it is very unlikey if you really do it HARD and with ARMS UP as you will turn your glider into a giant drag chute attached to your back. It worked for me after 100's of broken downbars

    so what do you like better, Malibu or Falcon? I tried both :)

    • @17999msl
      @17999msl  2 года назад +1

      I mean, it’s hard to go wrong with either, but the Malibu has this nice feature where the wing that’s about to stall makes a deep fluttering sound, so it’s great feedback to control how much you push out in a thermal. And it’s just so easy to control a tight spin in a narrow thermal.

    • @safurian
      @safurian 2 года назад +1

      @@17999msl I agree, both are awesome single-surface gliders. even though I have a bunch of flights on the Malibu, I never heard the sail flutter. guess I wasn't as close to a full stall then, as you might have been. I use the sound of wind to determine when I get too slow (besides I can feel it through steering).

    How did you get to fly torrey pines as an H3? i thought it was H4 only

    • @17999msl
      @17999msl  Год назад

      On radio with heiney, but I don’t like flying there. It’s okay if it’s blowing hard straight west, but that’s really rare. Too stressful with dodging PGs and the sketchy rotor landing behind the PGs kiting in front.
