I’m a southern East coast gal who spent a summer in Jingletown about 12 years ago. Collectively California is not my cup of tea but I walked over to Alameda a number of times and really did like it. It doesn’t smell like weed, the water was relaxing, and the shoppes were a nice mix of unique concepts. Thank you for your video and a quick revisit.
this video should be the blueprint for all ultimate guide videos out here on RUclips. Love how you pointed the area on the map and showed some snippets too. Thanks!
Jake- I appreciate this info. I used to rent a room from someone in a condo on South Shore and walked to the shopping center frequently to grab a bite. I worked at the 10 major airports of the Northwest US so I loved going to OAK Airport to fly out. I would love to move into Alameda and purchase a home. Your info in breaking down the areas is useful for me as I venture to buy. Thanks again Jake

I've checked the prices in Alameda and the cost to buy a house there today is just way too high. I know some people that grew up in Alameda that moved out because they couldn't afford to buy a house there.
Yes, like most of the Bay Area prices have skyrocketed. But, there are some affordable areas / types of housing within the island. May not fit everyones needs though.
The real estate is pretty hot already. But yes, it has been having a lot of new construction like treasure island, although the space is almost gone. I have another video touring the model homes by the water, check it out here! ruclips.net/video/g3tNzvDgnvI/видео.htmlsi=vp3xRgdU44Jc20rx If you ever want to tour them, give me a ring. Always wonder whos able to live there? 1M+$ homes and hard to get in and off the island. Unless you live near the Ferries and work in sf, i dont see how a family can make enough to afford it
There are quite a lot of house here that don’t cost 1M+ and there are a couple bridges to get on oakland but there are a lot of house that sure cost a lot
@@jakefromtheblock I grew up in Oakland. I’ve been going to Southshore center since the 80’s. I used to go to Sizzler’s with my family when it was still there. I took swimming lessons at Emma Hood swim center when i was 11 & 12. I still eat at Toomies Thai restaurant on Park. I am very familiar with Alameda and Oakland.

There are some nice new constructions leases on the island as well that I'm happy to give you a tour of. Please send me an email or shoot me a text and we can chat more. My only exposure to Alemeda was not a positive experience. I was installing a new kitchen in a dinky condominium off webster st. I couldnt park in the complex so i had to lug all my equipment and supplies about a quarter mile up to the work site . The management was rude and unreasonable. When i went to lunch i ate at a fast food rest. On Webster. The place was in total dissaray with one person on duty and the tables all cluttered with trash. It was about the most miserable job i did in 4 years at Sears. Also when i went to HD for supplies there was a guy breaking into cars in plain daylight. This was in 2005. Its probably much worse now. I wouldnt live there if you payed me. I hate the bay area. What a crappy place to live.
Alright so here’s the deal. The food in Alameda is not anything special. Sure there’s a large amount of restaurants but not one of them really specializes in anything. If you live in a bubble and want to try a different food without stepping further away than 3 miles then this is for you lol.
Haha, that's fair. Decent food, but maybe not to go out of your way for if you're from another town lol. It satisfies me though. Oakland / berk / sf isn't too far to venture for food.
One of the reasons the food is mediocre in Alameda is because it's increasingly difficult for anyone to own and operate a small business there - There's unavoidable vandalism and property crime everywhere.

Great video! I was stationed at the former NAS Alameda Naval Air Station from 1993-1995! It's so built up now, I miss partying on Webster street!
Thank you for your service! Those parties must've been rowdy😅. Theres maybe a little less of that now, unfortunately lol. Thanks for watching.

Alameda is the next hot spot along with Treasure Island. Looking to get a Townhome along the shore over the next yr. After 13 years living in SF.

Well done Jake! Great content.
Thanks Jim!
Very Informational! Theres a lot I learned about Alameda watching this.
Thank you!
Great video! I’m not sure if you mentioned Alameda High School…one of the best reasons to live in Alameda for parents.
Alameda is a short drive away from Oakland.
Fruitvale Station was a good movie.
These photos aren’t typical of what Alameda really looks like.
What do you mean by that? These photos were taken this past week 😂

Honestly, I wouldn't live in Alameda.. simply because it's next door to Oakland. That's just me.
😅 Have you visited Alameda before? don' knock it until you try it! Oakland can certainly use some cleaning up...

Honesty, you're not from the area and you are ignorant!
Alameda is like a little Mayberry really !
Is Alameda overrun by usual suspects wearing hoodies and masks?
I lived in Walnut Creek in the 80's and 90's. Would never move back today.
Nope! Good population of retirees, highschoolers roaming, and families out and about!
We love it when the bigots move away
@@jakefromtheblock How about some updated violent crime and property crime stats from the Alameda Police Department? 🤣🤣
Do you handle rentals?
