Hey yall, next deltarune episode won't be out until next Wednesday because after I beat ch1 I was going a bit insane and had to film a rambling ass video going crazy about it so that will be up Saturday
random-ass tidbit i noticed during your fight with Jevil: when you used the Choco Diamond on Kris, it healed a very nice 80 HP for them. and sense the healing for that item is varied, it probably worked so well because Kris loves chocolate. Toriel does have to hide chocolate kisses from Kris in order to keep them from eating it all. lol
I actually did discover this in my first run and used to revive kris so I could save my revive mint for Susie, very helpful, I did stick to dark burgers on my genocide run though
@@Astrogames1212 I beat Jevil yesterday lol, I didn't have the revivemint, and couldn't tell you why since I've been trying to beat jevil for 2 years. so idk when I used the mint. but what I had was the topcake and manual (obv), and then maxed out darkburgers
Hell yeah, it's Jevil time. It's time to let yourself out of that prison, and experience true freedom. In the first chapters "sans-like" battle (Even if I find him way wasier than sans, he still feels like the same kind of rage battle), we meet the poor Darkner Jester, who learned too much and now is free.
19:39 Toriel was kind of a puzzle to me. Lots of people don't figure out that sparing multiple times changes her dialogue, so they try to weaken her instead and end up killing her by accident. You have to remember what one of the Froggits says, that "someday you have to spare even when their name isn't yellow", and apply it to her specifically. Most of the other bosses are like that; it's easy once you figure out the gimmick, but getting there isn't always easy (e.g. figuring out you have to flee for Undyne or how to improve ratings for Mettaton or that you HAVE to fight Asgore). Now that you mention it, the only exceptions are the skelebros, but they make up for it by being challenging.
"I hope items dont like carry over from chapter 1 to 2 and I'm actually screwing myself over by using the topcake..." HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA You shouldn't really *need* it though it's not like it's really needed for anything. As a side note, You could have traded the topcake for spincake if you brought it back to the chef, he'll give you a new spincake if you used the last one you had, but spincakes are less healing than topcake. Edit: Also FYI you can equip JevilsTail to either Susie or Ralsei (Since it affects magic you probably want it on ralsei for better healing), you just need another piece of armor to swap it out with on susie because you can't unequip armor without replacing it with something else.
Addendum to the spincake thing, he also continues to give you them in Ch.2, and presumably following chapters…though I don’t feel like we should assume that, because Toby could throw a curveball our way at any point
Also fun fact: even if you have started chapter 2 and then beat Jevil (if not defeated before) in chapter 1 you can continue back to that chapter 2 and the Jevil item will appear *somewhere*. Pretty considerate from Toby, I got to say.
@@MillyKKitty Yep! Also, if you gave Jevilstail to a certain character and its no longer available, it'll actually respawn in the same spot. How interesting!
I'm so glad you took some time to sit on it and go back through, because even when it's not 3AM, you already know what to expect, so you CAN take your time and ruminate on all the little details, of which there are MANY. (Similarly, I've played through this so many times and your theory about soul!kris being the hero and soulless!kris being the knight is SUCH A COOL THEORY AND I NEVER EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT THAT BUT IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE AAAAA) Fantastic LP, and can't wait to hear your thoughts and see chapter 2!
I think fundamentally Deltarune's combat shifts the focus away from the monsters you're fighting over to your party members. A common complaint I sort of agree with is that the enemies in this game don't feel as interesting or fleshed out as in Undertale, both in characterization and the combat puzzles involved. I think this is actually intentional. Deltarune's combat better allows the party members to interact with each other in unique ways that further characterize them. Like Susie throwing Ralsei at K. Round. My hope is that these interactions continue to become more interesting and varied as the game progresses to convince me that this change is worth it.
This chapter was good, but I was going to settle for watching a playthrough on YT instead of buying the whole thing. Then Chapter 2 came along and blew me away, and now I'm committed lol.
Yeahhhhh I definitely gotta agree with your take that Ch1 is kinda mid. Really wish I could say otherwise after the quality of the next arc but 6/10 is nothing to scoff at Ig- =/

Fun Deltarune Fact!
Asgore recently got trending on Twitter. This was because someone posed the question, “Who is the most divorced man in gaming?”
He can put that trophy right next to his #1 Nose Nuzzlers one. A painful solace.
"What a cool attack! Also, it's hell. I hate it."
This man just put the entire Jevil fight into ten words.
I personally enjoy the fact that jevil says “having fun? Join the club!” And then bombardes you with chaotic clubs.

I actually learned recently that the HEARTSDONUT does the same thing for Susie, heals 80 as well, I wonder why that is?
I love the clown/jester aesthetic, and Jevil’s no exception :]
Even though Jevil isn’t to difficult, I find him a really enjoyable boss. I love all of his various attack patterns.
He is no Undyne the Undying or Sans, but imo Jevil takes third place :D
@@thefiendish186 pretty sure jevil killed me more than undyne
@@ZeRandomizor for me it was the other way around
Lol jevil is difficult trust me
For me, I struggled with the dodging. But got better with practice
I love how these games have some super limited voice acting, it makes the characters with lines super impactful

Kris likes chocolate, choco diamond heals them a lot more compared to ralsei and susie
Susie likes blood i think, so heart donut heals her the most
You did miss some extra dialogue, the shopkeeper (seam) gets new dialogue when you defeat Jevil.

I like it when jevil goes "A-"
very fun to hear your thoughts right off the bat! looking forward to the ramble video and your thoughts on ch2
I never really recorded a ramble on ch2 but I think the sheer enthusiasm will speak for itself lmao
I'm both impressed and a little salty that you managed to beat jevil in just a few tries...
Sans and Undyne trained me well lol
@@bflgames The difference is Sans trains you for the same fight every time, which is why some people say it's easier than this one.
in the fight with jevil, kris is revealed to be attracted to chaos

Listening to you talk about the King makes me excited to hear what you think of the Queen.
Nice for a first time with the fight Kevin is fairly difficult and generally harder than most Undertale bosses so good job dude.
45:09 bro just predicted the future of deltarune
What's interesting is that he tries to take down the healer, Ralsei first.

You probably know already but Kris's heart likely wasnt taken out before we posessed them
Sigh… imagine being jevil and being able to sleep till deltarune chapter 3 comes out, because it will probably take that long.
He can do anything.
Oh yeah no. Chaos King is kind of a mid villain
Ok Ralsei you can hea...
Oh you dead....
Hey so if you're fighting this guy you're only choice is to fight
*Hehehehehe!*

To be fair it is just a giant tutorial
@@bludser So was the RUINs, and that's one of the most well-written areas I've ever played?
I feel like toby was experimenting with deltarune then.
Undertale is better. :/
Okay
Is better to be forgotten HAH
Deltarune better sans fangirl
