Learn Chichewa

Little Chichewa for traveller
Speaking a bit of the language of the country you are travelling to is always a good idea. Locals will appreciate the effort and will respond positively. Chewa is the most widely known language in Malawi, a beautiful country in Southern Africa. It is spoken mostly in the Central and Southern Regions of the country. It is also spoken in parts of Zambia and Mozambique. In total there are about 16 listed languages in Malawi but Chichewa can be understood by almost everyone. English is spoken by almost everyone too. As some words and also numbers do not exist in Chichewa, the Malawians use the English words.
My Malawian friend Genesis and my self put together a list of basic words and phrases that helped me while travelling Malawi. If you feel like you miss anything, please let me know in the comments.
