Saw the full HiFi Rose lineup at Axpona and was really impressed! They are beautiful components with an awesome, easy to use interface AND they sound great. Can't wait to play around with them a little more!
This thing is a beast with my Wharfedale Lintons and REL TS 9/i subwoofer. My favorite part is turning the unit on with my phone and all the VU meter options.
Add a nice pair of efficient speakers to the RS201E for a clean, simple streaming music system that has a much nicer user interface and sound quality than the usual suspects out there.
This is really cool. So glad to see this review. Are you guys going to release more reviews on the other models? I'd be interested in hearing your take on those after watching this.
I considered this unit a few months ago and decided to go with Cambridge Azure 851. I love the interface but I only needed a unit with a decent display to play FLAC files from a USB SSD and maybe Qobuz. At $2200 it definitely breaks my bank. Great quality I assume but still very expensive.
I had the HIFI Rose RS201E , but I sold it. Why ? If you don't out a subwoofer on it, your bass will be very very thin.I tried several speakers, Klipsch, Polk, Dali.Floorstand and bookshelf speakers. all the same. I am used to a amplifier that on low volume gives that warm sound. I went back to Yamaha amplifier with build in network. Okay they don't have the beautiful display, but man, the sound ! It improved soooo much. I don't need a subwoofer now anymore. Okay I can use the rose hifi as a dac. But why ? Only for the "beautiful screen"" ? No for me back to basic with a manufacturer that knows hot to make a good sounding amplifier.
At 50 wpc into 4 ohms, the output into 8 ohms speakers will be substantially less, so I need to know the 8 ohm power output to pair a proper set of speakers. Please advise.
Great question. Room size and the amount of coverage your space requires for a good stereo image in your "sweet spot" listening position is one other important factor to consider. We tested the RS201E in a medium-sized living room with a pair of Sonus Faber Lumina II bookshelf passive speakers-which need about 50-75 watts per channel to really get them going in an average-sized room-the RS201E provided plenty of power for our application since our room was a pretty average medium-sized living room. We hope that helps, but please have a chat with us online at audioadvice.io/aa-chat so we can determine if this is the right DAC/streamer for your space, and thanks for watching!
Hi, This question i have no idea where to ask it but for a 9.1.4 set-up just for movies, would you go Arcam 40 or Anthem AVM70 ? Base it on sound quality only.
You would need an outboard phono preamp OR a turntable with a built in phono preamp, but yes, with either of those you would connect it to the Line input and be good to go. Thanks for watching

I wonder why native Amazon Music HD integration with a lot of streamers are so hard to come by.... Qobuz, Tidal etc are everywhere!
Good question, it could be they want a lot from the mfgs to include it.

Wiim needs to mimic this screen and be more Android friendly.

Hi - I’m guessing you can connect active speakers to the preamp output?
