I remember it was in operation as a kid. There used to be a road weidner rd that was built over the quarry. It was great times Veiwing down on quarry when I was on school bus Looking out the window looking at all earth moving equipment running around. And there was a elevated railroad crossinv that every one like to duke the hazzard style jump over on the tracks. mid 90s that area became kid hang out spot for a short time. Until San Antonio took over the property. Since there a city yard close to there now where they park there garbage trucks and other city functions there. It bit more secure to ubex. Any kid in those times building was more intact And city just taking it sweet time slowly demoing it as tine goes on.
The photograph is really nice. It reminds me of the last cycle of life as the earth re-claims. The gear represents time as we go through life. Greetings from Ody slim
in the northeast side. off thousand oaks road. now its the morgans wonderland amusement park and heroes stadium there and toyota field. they built all that on the same site of that abandoned longhorn quarry.
They didn't build anything on the site of the quarry. They built near it. A friend and I went and explored some of the quarry a couple of months ago and everything was still there.
I had a friend of a friend that got permission to go on the property and take pics. That was a few years ago though. I remember when that place was in operation. Hell, I remember the Alamo Cement quarry before it became Quarry Market. Maybe a good use will be found for the old longhorn quarry and its buildings
Gladius Ostentis hi im a roofer for the apartments they are building right beside this place and i do abandoned exploration i was wondering how i could get permission to enter these premises
