This is pure groove music. Everything is on the one. The keyboardist is awesome. Can' t say enough about Chaka Kahn. The bassist is slamming the drummer in the pocket screaming guitar I love it . Singers great. Love this
WOW! She was absolutely ON FIRE that night! Nothing surpasses Chaka Khan when she`s happy! She sort of gets spurred on by her own enjoyment, and experiments a bit and pushes it. Great venue too. I love her little laugh of joy, for herself, at the very end of Ain`t Nobody. Thanks for posting this.
Andrew's style is 'busy', but these arrangements and his playing serve to energize these old songs. Imho he added more than he distracted from her performances.
I don't there has ever been a busier playing who kept groove than Andrew Gouche. I noticed he borrowed a lick from one of influences, the late Robert Wilson of the Gap Band.
Damn, that is some deep 'scoop' on that bass tone, Mr G. That top end must've done some serious sinus damage to a few people at the front of the stage😳; though I've never heard Chaka sound quite so exciting live, albeit with some dodgy notes on her part 👀. Overall, the rhythm section is truly committing an act of mass murder here... absolutely killed it! As for you, that's some shit you pulled out of your locker!
