Eddie was only 21 during this and the biggest star on SNL. He carried and saved the show.
FACTS!
@countrygirl countrymusiclover lol what? The dude doesn't look anywhere close to being 21 years old.
19, actually. He's the youngest black cast member the show ever had.
@@canaisyoung3601 19 when he started on the show, 21 in this sketch
19 when he got the job at snl but seems older. Says he started doing standup at 15. I'm guessing he looked mature for his age even then, audiences probably didn't know he was 15.
He brought a new kind of comedy to the show. Eddie Murphy :)
Marvin De Leon he made the show!
Eddie saved the show during that time,
I think it was a syzygy. Great screenwriters, amazing performers like Krueger, Gross, Kroeger and Dreyfus along with Mr. Murphy.
Don't forget Piscopo and Kazurinsky.
And that asshole lorne Michaels still wont put the 84-85 season on dvd
guerito7571 Because he hates Eddie Murphy with a passion and always bad mouth him to the younger generation of cast members! However, Eddie Murphy was on the 1980-84 seasons.
Oh, I know why the douche won't put them out. I loved the 82-85 seasons.
Some of my best friends are white.
@Red Sunshine Lol the jealousy is real!
Lol😂
I saw a white person once. Everything was fine.
@Red Sunshine lol you couldn't sound any more moronic
"When I was growing up we had a white maid."
man it's crazy how well this has aged. It's even funnier and more relevant.
Well, not exactly that it's more relevant... just that more people are recognizing it's relevant, lol
@@RuaTheRapoet ooh. good point
@@cullencochran3393 Thanks Cullen
@@RuaTheRapoet maybe more on point... Like for him, he can say "I have a white maid" signaling success. Nowadays, that really means you got MONeh "the HWITE ppl MONeh" -Richard Pryor 🤣
Sarcasm in the highest form! LMAO!
I love it!
how many heads did this go over I wonder
I am white and love racial humor - Eddie is genius. Joking about one another doesn't mean we have to hate each other. Today's society no longer tolerates anything sadly.
I see RUclips censored/deleted his Kill The White People reaggae video (also brilliant).
@iconoclast I am not American, here in East Europe, our cops are not trigger happy, and no, I don't side with anyone who eagerly kills another. As far as the humor, I don't care about percentages - I like Eddie's humor, and would welcome any amount.
Thank you Eddie Murphy. You'll always be my favorite SNL cast member
I'm watching all the 81-82 SNL episodes on Peacock. He was so gifted at playing characters, three times his age. He played them well.
I used to fall asleep during the other sketches and then wake up for him.
Me, too...
Man when Burl Ives sang “Frosty The Snowman” and “Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer” I knew I was getting laid!!! Lol lol lol😂😂😂
OMG! That is funny on so many levels!🤣🤣🤣
Burl Ives was actually biracial, and Eddie Murphy likely knew that.
@@claudiawoods4382Yes, especially because Burl Ives eventually confessed to being part black.
The irony is that Burl Ives openly acknowledged that he was a biracial man who passed for white early in his career. Ives had a black grandmother, and Eddie likely knew that.
this is smart comedy
I agree
Good lord...this show would have been toast without Eddie, glad to see him come back, so many years late: he nailed it.
I loved Eddie on SNL. To me he was the best. I couldn't wait to see every week what he'd do.
I remember seeing an interview with either Tupac or Biggie Smalls and they said the Burl Ives was the OG. The interviewer was stunned but their response was "Shout out to my dog Eddie Murphy he knows what I am talking about!:
Eddie had me doubled over laughing. I always want to see "Hot Tub".
Lol I see what you did there Eddie 😂😂 😂
this is a real underrated sketch.
Remember watching this show. No idea why I decided to look this up now, thirty-seven years later. Great humor.
This humor will be back soon, it comes in stages.
Agreed 👍
It’s been three years since your comment and we’re still waiting.
@@mrchopsticks3 so far people are just getting more and more sensitive😭
When will whities be able to use the n word again?
I hope so. I've had to stop watching it again.
There aren't many people who are good at impressions, stand up and simply writing good comedy all at the same time. Eddie is the master of all three.
K but Andy Breckman did the writing 🙄
I'm white & I love you, Eddie Murphy! You kill me! (grin)
I always like him playing Gumby. God, he was hilarious doing that.
Gumby was a jew
Eddie, Chapelle, Pryor, Rock.....They made fun of ALL races.....their jokes weren't full of hatred or discriminating.....They made fun of racism.....I'm a white guy and wish these POLITICIALLY INCORRECT geniuses (RIP Pryor and Foxx).....keep on doing their kinds of comedy.....Comedy is what keeps our morale alive....I miss the days where people can laugh at stuff like DEAN MARTIN COMEDY ROASTS (rat pack guys inviting celebs of all races and creeds, etc.) and make fun of everyone (race-related or not) without being offended...everyone knew that they were just jokes and weren't personal....Look up Don Rickles-Sammy Davis Jr roast.......BTW Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Don Rickles, Jerry Lewis, and Sammy Davis Jr....were such....best friends....Franky would threaten those places that wouldn't allow Sammy to stay at their hotels/lounges....etc,
JIMMY CRACK CORN AND I DON'T CARE XD HAHAHHAH
Gee he almost convinced me to like white people and I'm white.
I was in my mid teens when Eddie Murphy was on snl... ppl need to frigin lighten up today and get a sense of humor...damn!
SNL's G.O.A.T
Genius skit!
0:44 I LOST IT 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The most electric star in the show’s history
I couldn't always stay up to watch Eddie on SNL as a child, but when I did, he was awesome.
No he loves white woman 😍
Subbura 1988 Haha I was thinking the same thing.
Is that a problem for you? Lol
His current wife is a gorgeous blonde from Australia.
@@thedarksideoftheforce6658 , if not for Oprah Winfrey, practically bullying him (on her old talk show) into saying he only wants to be with a black woman, there would Probably be nothing but (mostly gorgeous) white women, in between this woman here from Saturday Night Live, and his current wife.
Exactly
Omg I love him
This is timeless!
I love SNL. Eddie Murphy is what made this skit possible.
This is outstanding.
What a genius. Still laugh out loud funny.
Funny thing, he's married to a white woman now
@S Kirki I just checked. U right, he's engaged
@Dino Buckhoy Is that right? And what praytell do you love about white people?
@Dino Buckhoy is it safe for me to assume you have a white wife/girlfriend?
@Dino Buckhoy you said the reason you love white people is because of the women, so I took that to mean you have a thing for white women. No indictment, just deductive reasoning
@Dino Buckhoy Glad to know. And you were right about the shame it is that we have to deal with prejudice in this world. I like to think one day that will all be behind us, but I doubt it will be in our lifetimes
James Brown Hot Tub was the most hilarious thing I’ve ever seen on SNL
And his Buckwheat character.
and mr rodgers and velvet jones
And when he went out as a white guy and everything was free😂😂😂
He is the best comedian!!!! ❤❤❤👍👍👍💯💯💯💯.....
Burl Ives😂😂😂😂😂
SNL in the good days...
Eddie Murphy ❤
End it by getting some white trim...😅😅😅😅😅😅
Man that was hilarious
From the November 13, 1982, episode of SATURDAY NIGHT 😴 LIVE.
Man, that's still relevant nearly 40 years later...
Bill Bixby 😂😂😂
When Eddie owned SNL....and comedy was fun. BTW.....my Irish GF loved, loved, LOVED her some Eddie Murphy.
Same here!! My red headed, Irish firebrand would laugh herself to tears during the Eddie years!
Oh man its july 11 2021 & still so funny.
This is brilliant. ♥️♥️♥️💗
Eddie Murphy rocking the choker way before the trap rappers
Yep. And those chains were the style then.
Gay
Lemont … choked? 🤣
He is golden.
This is why Eddie was the best
Rip Bill Bixby
Eddie also played a Jewish guy named Saul in a scene at the barbershop in the movie Coming to America. He's a comedic genius who also did great stand up comedy too. His mcdonalds vs moms buger skit is funny. His many SNL characters are pure classics like hot tub james brown and mr rodgers just to name a couple. look them up and have a laugh!
Bixby was actually a really good actor, though. He conveyed a kind of relaxed ... well, essential kindness that isn't at all that common to see or familiar onscreen, so maybe it isn't too easy to get across. Good bit, though. Bert Convy really nailed it.
Burl Ives is the Mack Daddy OG!
He shoulda never left snl, he could be like Kenan and have his own NBC tv show
Or..he could be Eddie Murphy....lmao I think he made the right choice
I hope this is DRIPPING in sarcasm lol
@@HamboneyGamezYT Imagine on a comedy segment laced with sarcasm you misunderstood a sarcastic comment.
@@desecration171 imagine if u shut the hell up!! Jesus you overanalyze Rap songs too..?!?!
Yes if he only made it and didn't do blockbuster movies and stand ups for consecutive years... He shoulda ran a tv show
Who was the woman? She wasn’t a cast member. She wasn’t the host because this was the infamous Robert Blake episode. Anyone know if she was famous?
The glass of wine to the music of Burl Ives part made me choke on my coffee
Omg I’ve never seen this!!! I love this! The flip is so creative!
Was SNL back in the day all about anti-racism jokes? I've been on a SNL Eddie Murphy binge watch and literally all skits he does are about race and uses comedy to teach white people not ti be racist. Kinda interresting.
Fisho D No it was lot of racism in those Time still exist Today but it was awful what Black People went through in those days
no, moron
Is he wrong?
Shaka Lion Zulu Racism was over during those times idiot. Stfu, you niggas always gotta bitch about racism and always dwell on it. I’m black too.
Young people today... Sad!
No t-shirt necessary...
I Saw This Scene live On TV When I Was About 9 Yrs Old.
Are you the kid who wrote the letter?
Who is the white chick? She is very cute.
Lori Singer from Footloose?
Down Home White Cookin
The GOAT.
I talked to a black guy just yesterday.
This is fucking genius...
That would NEVER pass today..
Humor back then was more relaxed and not taken to heart.
To many people would be triggered by something like this today and take it all word for word.
lol what are you talking about? SNL still makes jokes about race relations in like every episode.
thats not true at all...this is very forward for its time i think
Vincent K there'd be some bizarre riot now a days. Be it white supremacists, or a riot like after the police shooting. I agree people are ready to blow these days.
The riots and looting comes from the black community more so than the white community. You said " white supremacists", I am not sure if they ever rioted or looted, especially "looting. I know there was fighting between white supremacists/white nationalists and Antifa however it was proven that the WN/WS had the right to march and Antifa started to melee.... Antifa had it pre-planned since they peed in balloons to through at the WS/WN, they did not pee in the balloons on the spot, it was done before the march started.
Hay, I am not bias in any group. If they can have BLM with a racist leading them, the WS/WN have the right to march too. Can not have it one way or the other only.
I had to respond as you only started one side and not the other especially with the word rioting next to WS which they rarely EVER do. That is not what they are about.
Vincent K well yeah I agree it was a constant black lives matter, that did major riots recently. I just meant who knows who'd find this offensive these days.
We need to get back to the kind of sensibilities that could appreciate the humor of bits like "Kill De White People". You couldn't get away with it today, and we're worse off for it. Seeing Eddie dressed as a rasta and belting out that song in front of a group of white people (and the lyrics were awesome, where he admits it's really not about justice or equality, he justs wants money money money) kills me. Uh oh, someone is getting offended, someones about to be canceled!
For half a second I thought this was gonna be serious
Epic 👏👏👏👏👏
"...I like to go to the Russian Tea Room and get some good down home white cooking..." omg lol
Is their food that bad? Never been lol
Oh no...definitely not. It's upscale. The joke is that it's the opposite of a Waffle House and places like that
@@huberfloover yes and the appropriation of "white culture" (some of my best friends aty white)-type reversal. Bc Black culture was really prominently "cool" and accepted

"All in the family".
Burl Ives😄
Fun fact:
The original lyrics of "Blue Tail Fly" (Jimmy Crack Corn) was about an enslaved black celebrating his master dying.
Ok it's official. It has to have been a Paul Mooney classic. The non-coincidentals are too many 😂
But it seems mostky white artists sang it... Do u know more? Insight
Ah the good ol days when people could take a joke.
Oh lordy mae. That boy does know how to sling some trash.

Luke Stump I think so
Luke Stump
No.
Luke Stump she is beautiful whoever she is
Ya she is.
No it wasn't her Luke. She never was on SNL. People in life can look similar but no.
lol Was that letter for real?
I mean did someone really sent him that?
FriendlyCroock well idk but snl in these days arent the kind of comedy kids should watch , now is all very light but these days xD ohh how i miss them

Careful. You don't want to make Bill Bixby angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry.
A letter?
Cleverly Sarcastic too fool the unwise. Some of what he says he says is true, minus his love for that truth.
Eddie Murphy looks so youthful here.Like 20 or so
His mannerism is white too
He certainly does now.
I’m half White and Spaniard American and if I was in the Saturday Night Live then I would told the whole story about the Spaniard culture and I would of made the White Girls interest on the Spaniards 🇪🇸🇺🇸
Razorsharp and still valid.
Was he hooking up with that girl fr ??? Who is she ? Was she on SNL or did he bring her on ?
Benjamin Martinez just SNL, word around the fire was that Julia Louise Dreyfus and Eddie Murphy used to hook up When they both are on the show
Just for show. Eddie's girlfriend at the time was Lisa Figueroa. He was with her for a few years until they broke up around 1985.
