Is it standard in the industry to have such a seemingly large +1/-1 (two-ticks wide) tolerance? What's the most top o' the line or recent safe you've opened using such methods? Curious mind inquiring.

I love your DDM. Did you make the 4 digit counter yourself? Or did you buy it from a company? If you bought it, Model? Mfr? Looks like you are out of stock on Amazon. Decades ago, when I was learning manipulation, I tried to invent something similar...years before optical encoders. I failed. It is so nice to see that you succeeded. Wonderful project.

Can you share where you buy the display unit? Or is that a trade secret? If it is a secret, do you sell them? When I saw your Device, I knew that I had to make one, even though I am long retired. I told my wife that I was going to buy a safe just to try it out when I build it.

The Money Exchange model is a direct entry lock, once you find the true driver gate it speeds things up! only 2 wheels and a driver. the POE method works well with these too.

I have the same exact safe. My grandmother collected coins for years and no one knew. I was given most of them but theres still the small safe and no one knows the combo. It wasnt too heavy for me to carry inside so not sure whats in it but i want to open it asap to see what may be in it to go with the sets i already have. As Im selling some of the collection to help my mother

I have this safe also. It was my Dads. Need help :(
I purchased an old safe and was told it worked. The seller removed the safe from the building and had dropped the safe on its side and it was laying on its back when I arrived. It did not appear to hurt anything at the time and I took it anyways. Once I got it home I realized The lower dial sticks when turning left between 3 and 4. You can turn it to the right and it does not catch on anything. The upper dial seems to work fine. I have the combination they gave me not sure if it's right. How would i go about getting it open.

Does a direct-entry safe combo dial differently than a typical safe, such as a S&G group 2? I just don't understand why you were able to dial all the wheels right to 98 and then go immediately to 15 without having to pass 98.
Yes. Dirct entry is very different. They ate like onlynhaving the gate.wheel ans two combo.wheels. you set the combo wheels and then turn th3 gat3 wheel to the right number.
Great video, but it got really confusing when the main cam and the dial cam got out of sync.

How do you attach to dial or handle?
Spacial double sided tape. Worka hreat and doesnt leave any residue or damage
Hi how would you know if a safe is a gate drop vs a direct gate?
Turn the handle ans see if it locks the dial. If it locks, its a direct gate. If it doesnt or there is no handle, its a gate drop

I have this same safe. What is the combination to unlock if you have the 3digit code! I have this safe but cant figure out how to unlock. Do i start counter clockwise or clockwise and so on. This would help me greatly. I don’t have the instruction or manual but if you have a manual in pdf on how to unlock or where to find one online that would be great too!
