    A puppy was all alone on a busy road, sitting next to his mother's dead body.
    He was very scared and would not let us approach. From the one side was a busy road, from the other side was a cliff. In front of him was Katerina and at the back was me.. He didn't know what to do and was bitting in every move. After hours of trying, we managed to catch him. We buried the mother and took him to the shelter.
    He had never been in contact with people before. He was facing the wall and refused to even look to us. His was shaking and he would bite. We knew he needed more time to feel safe.
    The next days, with the help of a social dog we tried to show him that humans and dogs are friends. He kept barking and wagging his tail.
    After a few days he was adopted! He would finally be safe and loved in a forever home. But the dream didn't last long.
    Some months later Marley was returning.. The family's first dog never accepted him.
    Marley had his life turned upside down once again. But he found the best foster home, and he is happier than ever. He is trained and socialized. Marley is about 1 year old.
    You might have seen Marley's story in The Orphan Pet channel. Valia helped us bring Marley to Athens, and when we was returned from the adoption, she arranged for him to find a foster home that is right for him, and that would help him overcome his problems. He is still looking for a forever home..

      @@Dianelee999 Yes, I agree with you completely, before I ever commit to adopting another rescue I always introduce them to the ones I already have in neutral surroundings to make sure they're compatible, otherwise it's just not fair to give a dear soul in need of their own loving furever home a taste of a life that they then have to leave, it's just lucky that Marley was fortunate enough to get a foster home instead of being returned to the shelter. It doesn't matter how good the intentions of the adoptees are, they first of all need to consider their own situation so that the adoption is successful, the outcome for the rescue dog needs to be considered more importantly than the actual deed, they've been through enough already, rejection is the last thing they need to feel all over again.

Some of what’s wrong has to be explained to the patient. Can’t talk to a dog. This dog needs an owner that is told about what happened to him as a puppy, witnessing his mother’s violent death, and not to expect too much to change. Because of what happened, he’s different, he’s special. It’s not his fault, and don’t take it personal. Some older, single person with a huge heart will take him.

    It's so heartbreaking to see how dramatizes the poor pup appeared. He must have been through some very painful experiences. He looks like such a sweet dog. It would have been nice to see whether he's finally with a forever loving family, that did not return him to the rescued shelter. That would also have been nice to see in the video. Bless you for rescuing the poor pup.

They can't speak our language but we can understand their body language. It is sad to see what this puppy has gone through. I wish the driver could slow down the vehicle and not kill his mother. Also, keep bread in your carry bag or purse, if you find a stray dog. Give him bread so that he doesn't have to sleepy empty stomach once. No. If you go into a space with an animal that traumatised, you don't go poking and picking him up. You, at most, sit there and talk to him, staying at a distance that does not trigger him. You do it over and over and over again, until he decides it's time to check you out. They had their own agenda, were trying to prove something, and failed. @@danyal400 Thank You for saying this. It takes a lot of work to take good care of a dog. Parents will sometimes buy a dog for their kids who think that the dog is like a stuffed toy which can be forgotten about when they're tired of doing the work. Then the parents might decide to abandon the dog somewhere else where they can just forget about him/her. It's appalling and heartless. I just recently found out that someone I once truly trusted and currently felt that he was a good friend, and I knew that he had been taking care of his granddaughter's dog for the past 6yrs. The way he talked about her and took her to the groomer, I could have sworn he loved her and then she got sick and he wouldn't take her to the vet, even after I got him a complimentary first visit. He thought she had a uti because she was peeing blood. I decided to call Anti-Cruelty and they informed that the poor little poodle was in such a terrible state and would need long term medical care. I can't even hold a decent conversation with him especially since he acts as if nothing ever happened and all is good. I'm truly disgusted to say the least.

      Has he really, though? The video doesn't show people actually working with him, and there's no indication that he's less fearful of people. The video doesn't say why he was rejected from his adoptive home; was it because he continued to bite? This is, by a long shot, the most depressing animal rescue video I've ever seen.

    This caught my eye because we adopted a 7 month old pit that acted terrified and hid her head under the seat of the truck. Never aggressive took 3 days before she even waged her tail. We have only had her 2 weeks and she is coming out of her shell, no way we would give up on her.

    I hope he is doing better now in the foster home. It's so hard when animals are returned to the shelter, the person has no idea what it does to the dog's sense of safety, self esteem, self confidence. He looks happy and I hope he finds a perfect forever home, poor guy has been through enough heart break. Thanks for all you do and never giving up. I know you inspire me, I hope others also get inspired too. Best wishes❤🐾

      It is nowhere near easy to socialize such a traumatized puppy. I have rescued for over 30 yrs, the newest one was 8 when I got her, and nipped everyone at first, luckily she's very small so it's nothing serious. It's taken almost a year for her to let strangers pet her, meantime she never barks except in aggressive fear at other dogs and people, so when she has to go potty, it's a race to get her outside, or an "accident" to clean up, sometimes right after going for a nice long walk, she just has no clue, she's part deaf and lived in a cage, getting bred and never walked, she does not understand yet her time to do her "business" is outside, never inside. Luckily I can't work, so I have time, but it is taxing, especially since my 11 year old very large rescued Newfoundland is becoming senile and peeing in her sleep now. That's a lot of cleaning. Some people just don't have enough time free to do what is needed, and when patience runs out, it's best to give it back rather than take it out on the traumatized dog. In time, he can adapt, with the right home and getting all the attention and training, not sharing a home with another dog yet.

    • @TheSindara
      @TheSindara 4 года назад +14

      Still @@inaruboricua the point is you don't take a rescue animal like this on unless you are making a solid commitment to that dog to never give up on it or further traumatize it by taking it in, giving it a place to call home and a new family to love only to then abandon it again. You've detailed lots of reasons that it's not so easy to take one of these dogs on, great, we know that, anyone with any common sense knows that. You can see his issues clear as day in the video. All rescues dogs have their issues. The issues are irrelevant to the point Anneewake is making. You don't get involved, you don't take a rescue home, if you aren't serious about giving that dog a better life no matter what. It's not a 'try it and see' scenario. It's not a game.
