A great video! I have a question regarding the appropriateness of mentioning depression in the past medical history. See, pancreatic cancer can actually cause depression in some cases. Hence, if I were to be writing this letter, I would think that mentioning the depression is actually very important.

I think that Depression is relevant info. As SSRI can cause pancreatitis.

    Thank you for this video.
Can I write "slightly distended" instead of "swollen"?
    Also,
how do I know which past medical history is not relevant for the OET letter?
My experience has been (IRL) that all past medical history is relevant.
    Thank you.

    Hi
Can i write introduction like ( Thank you for urgently seeing Mr...... and investigation of his symptoms and signs which are consistent with pancreatic cancer)

Thanks for the question. The English in your introduction is fine but we can't comment on the accuracy or appropriacy of the introduction without the case notes. The second part of your sentence is quite generic and might not be appropriate for 100% of case notes so make sure you check the Writing task carefully to ensure your introduction provides a good match for this.

If the diagnosis is not clear at all, how to write introduction without any possible diagnosis? Will including phrases like 'respiratory symptoms' be correct?

  • @mackes3683

I would have appreciated examples of letters that were graded with A, B or C. Alternatively, revealing the grades that each of the letters in the video received would have been helpful.
Regarding candidates who are going to practice medicine in the US: Do you consider American English as correct ?
