What Is the Tallest Building In NYC?

- Many people think of the One World Trade Center as the tallest building in New York City and in the country, however this is somewhat disputed as it depends on what you consider as part of building height. #shorts

Let's measure buildings by the highest occupied floor and towers by their highest point. Done. It simplifies everything so we don't have to debate this every time.
Ok
wdym tower and building?
@@samuel_iv we could have 2 different records. It would be possible for one structure to hold 1 or both of these records if it satisfied both requirements for highest occupied floor for buildings and highest point for towers. The Burj Khalifa currently would hold both of these records.
yeah but people change the deffinition of "tower" or add it to the name, just dont count points unless its an actusl tower like the sears tower or the eiffel tower
@@cyber1ifeconnor but what do the sears tower and Eiffel tower have in common?
"Let's stick a giant pole on the top to make it taller!"
"Poles and antenna don't count."
"Did I say pole, I meant 'architectural spire'"
"Oh, well in that case!"
Lol
Sears Tower vs WTC summary
Facts central park tower is usas tallest structure period
I think they made the spire to make the height the year when the Declaration of Independence was signed.
I mean, those spires from the petronas towers is so skinny that those looks like a functional spire, and also can't be occupied by someone. So i consider the Sears taller@user-ye6zk3ud3k
One World Trade Center really missed out on having the actual building be 1,776 feet and the antenna bringing the total height to 1,973 feet. A tribute to the year the original Twin Towers were completed.
Wow Yeah ! I’ve though “roof Hight 1776 plus antenna for 1812 ft” LoL
Yeah America still made its Own Tragedy with fuxcing up the Rebuild by not just building Back Better Twins Next to Memorial In Honor ! smfh
Perfect 🤌🏾
That would have been awesome
Unfortunately the safety requirements would’ve made that nearly impossible😂
@@rodneymoore9183 But there’s multiple buildings in the same city with a roof height greater than 1WTC wouldn’t they be subject to the same building codes?
So if I have "spikey" hair, am I taller?

The tallest is whichever one I can comfortably go on top of and be above every other building in the city
Well on the spire of the one WTC and the old WTC north tower 1 you can climb the antenna or spire and be above any other building that doesn’t have one
@R62A Guy No, he can't. No one can unless you are a broadcast engineer who services the antenna. The highest observation floor in any building in North America is the 103rd floor of the Sears Tower. (Willis Tower) It gets anyone above the roof top height of the One World Trade Center.

yeah, imagine being in the top floor of the "tallest building" and seeing the building next door above you.
Personally, I would've designed One World Trade without a spire and just make the roof height 1776 ft
Because of independence day
Exactly… adding upto 1776 by using antenna is bullshit
@@msmith4700 the thing is that’s a Vanity Hight they made up smdh so no other tower can be taller than 1776!? That’s really dumb
Yeah but you have to understand that the floors get smaller the farther it goes up so upper Flores might just render as useless or not needed
I would’ve still kept the spire, but make it rise to 1,973 feet. A nod to the year the Twin Towers were completed
"Spire" is only a different name for Antenna. Imagine if hight of a human would be counted with a hat on.
Spires shouldn't be counted. Roof height is only real definition.
Not hat but more like hair
@@teguhf.2084 but hair is counted and it doesn't change much so no
@@AwangardaGames well, if it still changes things, then it should count
But a spire is not an antenna now cry
The building that can get you up the highest is the Sears Tower. (Willis Tower) It's 103rd floor observation deck is 1,353 ft above the streets of Chicago.
So what will matter to most people is what building can get me up the highest and offer the highest view of any building In North America. That's still to this day the Sears Tower.
The highest free standing structure in North America is the CN Tower.
The tallest Tower in North America of any kind is the 2,063 ft KVLY-TV mast in North Dakota.
However the United States is home to more than 30 broadcast Towers that rise to a height of at least 2,000 ft tall.
Yes! NW of Philly there is the Roxborough Tower farm, and three of the towers are taller than the Comcast Technology Center (1,121 feet). Anytime I'm taking photos of the skyline in Jersey or even traveling over the Walt Whitman Bridge, I see them
I thought OWTC had 104 Floors?
@WhoTookFumbleKin It does have 104 floors. The Sears Tower (Willis Tower) has 108 floors. (Or 110 counting the highest roof level.)
The Sears Tower gets you up to 1,353 ft above street level. But the One World Trade Center gets you up to 1,268 ft in comparison above street level. (85 ft lower than Sears Tower.)
Skypod in Toronto is even higher at 1,465 ft
@creedencebakken2686 Eeyup. However, CN Tower isn't in a building but a broadcast tower to be fair.
With that being said, a new skyscraper is about to break ground that's going to be even higher than the CN tower in Oklahoma. 🙂
I will add a drone connected to a cable and say my house is the tallest building in the city.
Its Basically like wearing one of those giant Abraham Lincoln hats and make yourself 6 feet but when your clearly under 5 feet!
😅 LMAO 🤣 exactly
They made the anten so it can have 1776 feet
2 WTC 🗿
the roof height and highest occupied floor of one wtc are surpassed by central park tower, 432 park avenue, 111 57th street, and Chicago's Willis tower ( formerly and still commonly referred to as Sears tower). Tribune east tower in Chicago and 270 park avenue in midtown Manhattan will also have higher occupied floors and roofs upon their completion.
One world trade center all the way!!!
I didn’t know the one World Trade Center was 1776 feet tall,
That’s cool
It's actually not.
Roof height 417m (same as twins)
Spire 541m (symbolic 1776ft)
Antenna 546m (actual height if one is gonna count all the sticks on the roof)
Sears tower is taller by roof height
Does the number 1776 mean anything?
@@arte0021 bruh that’s the year the United States of America declared independence

I don’t think so. One world is a beautiful building and it does a good job of honoring the former twin towers.
One, it’s One World, not the Freedom Tower. That name got dropped years ago.
Two, how’s it a slap in the face?
One World Trade Center is ugly, and unlike the Twin Towers, it gets uglier as time passes.
@@kingstar5494no
Well. more importantly is that both tower half empty, unoccupied.
1776ft isn’t even that tall nowadays
Fun fact: In 1981 they once stacked both of the twin towers on top of eachother to make a super trade center, people didn't like it because they were afraid of heights and the upper tower wobbled too much so they put it back to normal.
I think there should be like a formula calculating roof height and highest occupied floor to estimate the highest building, cuz spires like these are hilarious
They really limited themselves by making it have the same roof height as the original 1 WTC. It’s also much skinnier with fewer floors so it has like 2/3s the floor space as well.
It’s the Empire State Building
It’s probably the old World trade Center, Empire State building, or the one World Trade Center
They called it the World Trade Center. I called the freedom tower.
I like those different skyscrapers
Billionaires' Row
The empire struck back big time
1wtc is shorter but i hate central park tower so the spire counts
That loop made me fall to sleep
One World Trade should remain the tallest.
All buildings that tall should have a couple floors in the middle used for strength support. I dont know if it is possible but if it is they should have that in mind just for the safety of the building and everyone in it and people around too.
One world trade center should say the tallest
I wanna know what’s in the unoccupied floors on central park tower, the backrooms?
Mechanical floors.
@@CastroJordanthey kinda make it look like the twin towers
make 1 foot building then 5000 ft antenna
Either way you slice it, NYC has the nation’s tallest building.
1WTC's height is so underwhelming. I know they struggled enough to find tenants as it is and I'm not an engineer, but I wish the roof height was 1776ft, with the spire on top being some other meaningless number. Having an actual impact on the skyline is more important than hidden meanings imo.
It is 1,792 feet tall
Whats the Name of the Song in the Background?
I always thought the World Trade Center should have been built to be 1776 feet tall and have the spire bring it to 1973 or 2001 feet tall.
One world trade or 170 park ave
"Occupied floor", works for me.
Thank you for your efforts. May you and yours stay well and prosper.
One World Trade without the spire has the same height as the original One World Trade (the North Tower)
With its history, it still deserves the title
One world Trade
Central Park tower is so thin that you can’t feel its hugeness like WTC and Empire State
Central Park tower is taller in my opinion!
They already debated this when One WTC was finishing construction. The spire is included as the height because it's a part of the building, while antennas (Sears Tower) are addition and can be modified, so their height isn't included. Also, there's a major difference between 1,550 feet and 1,792 feet (full height of One WTC) so statistically One World Trade Center is the winner
By roof height ( which is what really matters I think) it is definitely Central Park tower I saw them and you can tell by just looking at them
it's a free real esta- I can't 💀
Dude that thing got hit
So apparently the Central Park Tower has been down the block from my school this entire time and honestly I didn't even know kt existed
If its taller than the wtc then why is it not in the top 10 tallest buildings?
OWTC (One World Trade Center)
One WTC Is still the tallest In USA & New York
The controversy really started when the petronas towers took the title back in ‘98 although the top floor was 375 m a fair bit shorter than the sears tower the 70 m spire’s made them take the title😵💫
Roof height should be all that matters. As someone from Chicago it was frustrating listening to people back in 98 trying to claim the Patronas Towers were somehow suddenly the world’s tallest buildings when they literally were 20 floors shorter than the Sears Tower.
The one World Trade Center is taller than Central Park tower the Central Park tower is 1550 feet and the one world trade center is 1776 feet
FINALLY someone said it. Everyone that tries to defend spires also deems Chicago residents as "hurt" since the Sears tower roof is taller. YET NYC has MULTIPLE buildings taller than 1wtc by that definition and the central Park tower is still taller than the Sears tower anyways
The two towers in bangkok used the spires as the highest point
It’s actually the One World Trade Center bc it does not have an antenna it has a spire which is part of the building and with the spire it is taller then Central Park tower and Willis *sry for being a know it all*
The loop was WAYY TOO smooth I didn't even notice it the first few times O_O
Fun fact: The tallest structure in North America is the KVLY-TV Tower in North Dakota.
Interesting. I'd definitely give the Central Park Tower the crown. a spire shouldn't count really
🤔 Maybe One World is trying to keep a low profile for some reason?
Planes spoiler
Which, not what.
Official Tallest Building - WTC. Actual Tallest Building - Central Park Tower.
Doesn't matter which is taller, I'm not going in any of them.
Not me thinking it was the empire state building
Jeddah
does not exist yet
And its not in new york
Actually the building was made to be the tallest by 1776 ( day of independence) and the spire counts not antennas like the sears tower / Willis tower. But still Sears tower or Willis tower would be still shorter
That’s like wearing a top hat to see who the tallest person is.
The One World Trade Center is beautiful, visited the USA for the first time in May and I couldn’t wait to see it with my own eyes.
Hope I can become an American citizen one day.
Love a Brit.
One World should step aside and let the Homie Sears Tower regain its title, after all both have antennas
Of the antenna on the WTC was actually a real spire, the. I'd say the WTC.
But it isn't a spire, it's an antenna.
where did that plane come from
This is actually p interesting, is there a standard way of measuring height of buildings?? Is it usually roof or highest point??
highest non detachable point iirc
Not really. Everyone just argues over the definition.
@@uvbe alr that makes sense
The thing on the top of the One world trade center should count.its still on the building.
That's an amazing loop!!
Spires or any other structure should Not count. It needs to rated based useable floor space.
Love it keep up the good work
One wtc is still just better
One World trade center Is 416 meters .
Never even heard of the central park tower
I think if the antenna/spire makes up over a certain percentage of the total height then it shouldn’t be considered in the building’s official height. To be honest I want us to build a building that has a roof that passes the 1,776 feet of One WTC.
bro the second building he pulled up was the large american apartment in mini cities 2 roblox 💀💀
The one World Trade Center is taller than
Define "spire"
Bro, you have to add the antenna
The roof is the standard way to measured the height of the building not the spire or antenna in my opinion
The spire counts, Central Park tower is not taller than one World Trade Center
Empire state building
Twin Towers Wtc team here!
The Jeddah tower is biggest
does not exist yet
And its not in new york
Even the Sears Tower is taller than the WTC and that’s from Chicago
Agree that roof height should be the definition. A spire doesn't cut it. 1WTC crown is a little off.
I typically count spires, but not antenna, unless said antenna is/are also a spire(s.)
When I measure by roof height, I do my best to make that clear.
I will never measure by highest floor, because by that logic, one story buildings would have virtually no height to them. Even massive cathedrals with 150ft+ roofs. It's just silly.
(Note: Spires only count in they make up AT MOST 50% of a building's total height. Although it gets stupid at about 25% IMHO.)
Edit: Lets just all agree that lightning rods and mechanical equipment sure as hell don't count.
And I just came back from NYC
I would hate to live at the top of Central Park Tower. I’d be in constant paranoya of a fire or a plane crashing into it. Sure I could visit it for about an hour but that’s it
