It's just vocal fry, some people naturally use more fry in their voice than others. Vocal fry is not harmful or caused by any harmful activities, it's simply a vocal register that everyone is capable of entering and some people stay in more naturally.
Fun fact, there is a significant stigma against vocal fry that causes speakers to be prejudiced against in a variety of social situations, particularly in professional environments.
Personally, I don't really notice fry unless someone points it out, and it doesnt bother me. I think I might have a higher tendency to slip into it than average.
its just that hes talking quietly and low, if you listen when he talks louder, there is far less 'croakyness'
