so for u to know, Valery Serhiyovych Markus is the master sergeant of the 47th separate mechanized brigade "Magura", a participant in the Russian-Ukrainian war, a writer and traveler. Valery is a paratrooper and has been fighting since 2014. He is behind the origins of the creation of this new brigade and its traditions. The brigade symbol comes from the concept of a chess horse that acts out of the box, stepping over other pieces. A circle with spikes symbolizes a shield. "Plus" just means "gotcha".
In US army his rank would be "Command Sergeant Major", and his role is the Brigade Command Sergeant Major. It's not the same as "Master Sergeant" in the US army. "Master Sergeant" is just a specific enlisted pay grade in the US Army (E-8), which is also interchangeable with "First Sergeant" when he's the leading sergeant of a company, pay is the same. I'm in absolute awe of this Commander (sorry, I don't know ranks). When he advised about crawling on green grass and then, in a trench, not to step on anything that has tightly wound leaves (I'm assuming it could be a mine), I was filled with total respect and admiration. He spoke to his men with respect - even noticing that the non combat badge needed replacing with a combat one, was so observant and confidence building. To come through those battles without losing one man is incredible. This guy ought to receive many medals 🤟 #SLAVA #UKRAINI 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
Valerii Markus wrote a book some time ago dedicated to the events of 2014 onwards. The book has QR codes that you can scan and watch some of the action footage specific to the book chapter. The book is called "Footprints on the Road" (Slidy na Dorozi - Ukrainian)
Leaders and managers should invest the time in viewing this incredible servant leader in action. He is constantly coaching, warning, instructing and supporting his squad as they take multiple positions. Just excellent!!
Hello! I'm from Ukraine. First of all, I want to thank you for your work. I want to say that Valeriy Markus, the camera guy, is a true role model for every soldier, both in Ukraine and beyond its borders. If you have time, you can familiarize yourself with some of his interviews, which I assure you will be interesting for you. I would like to ask you to react to more videos with 47th brigade and Valeriy because he is the person who speaks exactly the things that, in my opinion, every resident of every country that supports Ukraine should hear. It is especially important to introduce to Valery's work those who are skeptical of aid to Ukraine. You can do that in your videos, and this will be an incredibly valuable to our victory. Thank you! God bless America!
Grad is a soviet multi-rocket launching system. Plus means "roger that" Hospitaliers - voluntaty paramedical organization operating since 2014. "Akhmat sila" is a Kadyrov guard war cry honoring Ramzan Kadyrov's father Akhmat. In Ukraine we have a tea brand Ahmad, so we joke by saying "Ahmad is tea".
Out of curiosity, is the + sign still called "plus" as well in Ukrainian? Is the "plus" used as seen in the video a regular, ancient part of the Ukrainian language that has got nothing to do with the mathematical symbol, or is it perhaps derived from the mathematic symbol? Since plus is positive (and minus negative), I could even see it being used as confirmation in slang, exactly like you can use "Positive" instead of "Yes" and "Negative" instead of "No", when answering a simple question.
@@Romkosss Interesting. Thanks for the info. I haven't seen that use in my native language background (Finnish) or when using English, so it made me curious.
Plus = positive Minus = Negative. Also Minus is used when took someone out, like if there is Intel that in next trench is a guy and soldier is sure he took him out he just infoes fast “minus”.

The patch change was for promoting the Rookie. After the first hit they got, he got "promoted" to be a full member of the team.
I’ve never been a huge supporter of war, but, these Ukrainian soldiers really inspire patriotism and respect for those of us who’ve been complacent! So proud of these guys! I have a new, deepened respect for the US military as well as the Ukrainian military 🇺🇸❤️💛💙🇺🇦
A true leader serves their people, makes themselves accessible and approachable for their people, and gets down into the dirt with the lowest of their people and lifts them up. A true leader does not elevate themselves above their people, but elevates their people instead. Markus clearly knows this and lives by that ideal. You can hear it in the way he addresses the others, how he leads them, how he guides them, how he walks among them.
These people always greet each other happily with “friend” which I’m sure translates to our “brotha” here in socal .. and a added fist bump or some kind of hand gesture.. always taking the time to be kind to each other . It really shows how well they were raised and continue to live 🤙🏽
19:40 Marcus asks the medic what unit he is from. The doctor replies that he is not from any unit, but a volunteer, representing the "Hospitaliers" volunteer organization. And with that, Marcus thanks for the help.
The Hospitallers are combat medics and paramedics-volunteers. They are funded purely by charity donations. Since all of them are volunteers, they are very motivated and very well trained to follow international best practices for combat casualty care. And that's why their help is so valued by Ukrainian soldiers.
18:40 "Plus" means "Copy" or "Roger" but in Ukrainian military slang 18:48 The patch says AFU(Armed Forces of Ukraine) hub 19:41 Im pretty sure somebody wrote about it, but "Hospitaliers" are Ukrainian volunteers combat medics 42:20 If somebody is curious, the guy in the crater said "its our forces" and cameraman replied "you idiot, Ive almost shot them" 51:04 "Akhmat" is russian forces from Caucasus. Also there is tea called "Akhmat" in Ukraine. It became pretty popular meme
10:11 He found himself in this position because he had his leg and back broken during the combat. Ukrainians stripped him to apply some medicine, and covered to protect from the sun.

This is almost an hour long video of pure freedom and unity in action. My deepest respects go to these front-liners defending their home and their families. Never be so blinded by (appropriate)hate and anger that you cannot show civility and humanity to your non-combative enemy.-They likely rarely/never see those parts of humanity. This makes winning minds in the war feasible. This makes coups of private militaries within Russia feasible. If this video packed with bravery and honor, doesn't fill you with pride, reassess your scales of what is right and wrong. Broaden your perspectives and stand with the most basic of human values. The level of instruction and tips from the commander suggested that several people in his crew were doing that sort of work for the first time. All the more respect for them for their success and that he brought them through that unscathed. I did think it odd that he didn't know the names of all his men, unless it was an ad hoc group.
I follow the frontline news every day, it is great to hear you complimenting the heroes doing this. I always wonder if it is just propaganda to make me feel less scared or if it is actually going well for the ukrainians. My country just got one step closer to joining Nato today (Sweden), it is a nightmare to imagine myself in their position. I will do it if I have to, but I am so grateful to these brave heroes for protecting us all from the russian brutality.

People on the front lines are doing their best and they're doing great, but it is still exactly that - a propaganda to make other's feel better about the situation. Ukrainian people are getting sacrificed while the world gawkes at it and cheers it on. Ukraine should have been accepted into NATO a long time ago so that this could not hapen. But that wasn't the point, nor the goal. Now Ukraine is serving it's exact purpose fighting what doubles as a proxy war, which is what matters to the western powers - not the desperate struggle for it's independence/self-determination. It should not continue like this.
@gdetota You'll be surprised by how much the economy of your own country depends on global stability and how much you personally lose whenever some bloodthirsty dictator decides to start a war somewhere else.

Love this dudes leadership style he keeps it serious but light hearted. He is willing to be side by side with his men never asking them to do something he would do himself which is a Real Leader.
The thing with the MG early on was that the MG was blind firing trying to provoke them to return fire because he had no idea where they were. If they fire back the MG will redirect back at the muzzle flash. The commander is telling them precise shots only because he only wants them shooting back at the MG if they can see the MG and hit him.
From my professional experience of playing csgo with my eastern European friends I can confirm that "plus" or in written form usually "+" just means ok/understood/positive etc. Its also very often used as "I agree" and what not.
50:56 He is talking about the Chechen pro-Russian troops whose slogan is "Akhmat - Sila" ("Akhmat - Strength!") in honor of the deceased Chechen president, Akhmat Kadyrov, the father of the current terrorist president, Ramzan Kadyrov. In Ukraine, they are jokingly called "Akhmat chai" ("Akhmat tea"), a well-known tea producer in Ukraine. I hope I have helped.
Hospitalier is a medical battalion formed out of volunteers, completely unpaid many Ukrainians have joined as well as foreigners and Brandon Mitchel (@Ukrainetbic) is also a part of them, frontline combat work and frontline stabilisation points, an American Doctor helps train them. The video shows the work of the "young" brigade, which was created after the large-scale invasion of 2022. Counteroffensive in the south of Ukraine is her first work. @Combat Arms Channel Markus (Valery Marcus) is an Ukranian legend and vblogger (youtube channel "MARKUS"), joined Ukranian war for independence since 2014. I can no longer watch reports on the front line or watch combat footage because it saddens me and angers me so much that men women and children die to such a evil nation. Any good people in Russia deserve to be elsewhere but most of the russian people are dogs that are not even life forms but scums. Today I watched a russian soldier beat a teenage girl senseless because she said glory to Ukraine. He kicked her head as she lay unconscious on the ground then dragged her with her hair. Worst part was that there were six people metres away who did absolutely nothing but just watched. I hope Putin and all of his minions who are proud of their crimes see hell on earth before they visit real hell. I'd pay to see Putin die a cartel style death.
Hospitaliers is a volunteer organization of paramedics. It was founded in 2014 when russia annexed Crimea. When they say "plus" it means "Understood / Yes / Accepted the information"
It would be a high honor to serve with such a great unit. As much as we like to prop up the American military we were soup sandwiches in comparison to many of these Ukrainian units. They are brave, bold, intelligent, and their ingenuity is top notch. Hats off to these people they are all heart ❤️ 🇺🇦
The injured POW at 8:30 is ex-convict, he has no understanding of events or weapons, zero training. This convict was abandoned by his unit, his backbone is broken or something like it. His unit build him cover from sun using garbage and abandoned him. Just keep in mind that one of popular russian mottos is "we will not abandon ours"
My impression from that interaction was that Ukraine is still operating in the grey zone and not actually breaking through. Not that it is good or bad, just that Russia throw their "expendables" into the trenches surrounded by minefields and zeroed in artillery while more entrenched positions are holding on. Its classic "defence in depth" which is why Ukraine is getting bugged down jumping trenches while dodging mines and artillery.
All armies say that, but they abandon their wounded guys, when medevac is not easy. It's hard to say, but dead soldiers are in someway "better" than wounded soldiers, who slow and weaken their unit. That's the cruel reality of combat zone...
The stack of AT mines at the beginning of the video are not likely to be inactive. Pressure activated anti-tank mines require considerable weight to detonate. When surface laid, they can be easily picked up and moved by hand without detonating. It’s likely they were removed from the nearby roadway.
From what I've been able to find out. When saying 'plus'. It's an answer in the affirmative. Like saying 'yes' 'ok' or 'roger'. Might be totally wrong, but that's the best I could find.

51:00 Akhmat is the name of Kadyrov's army. There is also a tea brand called Akhmat tea, not related to Kadyrov. So the joke is they always says "Akhmat sila" (Akhmat is power/strength) in return Ukrainians say no Akhmat is just tea.
A joke about Ahmat on 50:50. When he went into the dugout. He says that someone from the Caucasus lived there. Kadyrov has an Akhmat unit and their slogan is 'Ahmat is strong'. And he jokes saying that they call themselves Ahmat sila, although it's not clear why because Akhmat is tea. Ahmat Tea is a British tea company.
Markus is the brigade sergeant major. He's been in the AFU for some time and has considerable combat experience. This can be learned with a two-minute Google search.

The hospitallers are an amazing organisation - the story of the young woman who just upped & founded them after a night as a civilian trapped in a cellar being shelled by the Russians while a talkative priest whiled away the time as they waited to die telling her about the history of the Knights Hospitalier is well worth checking out. Valeriy Marcus, master sergeant of 47th brigade. Legendary guy - Airborne 2011-2016, wounded, discharged, 2022 - active duty again.

A true leader serves their people, makes themselves accessible and approachable for their people, and gets down into the dirt with the lowest of their people and lifts them up. A true leader does not elevate themselves above their people, but elevates their people instead. Markus clearly knows this and lives by that ideal. The Hospitallers are combat medics and paramedics-volunteers. They are funded purely by charity donations. The level of instruction and tips from the commander suggested that several people in his crew were doing that sort of work for the first time. All the more respect for them for their success and that he brought them through that unscathed. I did think it odd that he didn't know the names of all his men, unless it was an ad hoc group.
Keep in mind this guy is the commander of the entire brigade, there are too many people under him to memorize all their names.

Today I watched a russian soldier beat a teenage girl senseless because she said glory to Ukraine. He kicked her head as she lay unconscious on the ground then dragged her with her hair. Worst part was that there were six people metres away who did absolutely nothing but just watched. It's a perfect example of the "russian camaradry". This is why they can't win this war.
