This video shows you how to programme a Sky remote so that you can control your TV volume and some other functions like turning the TV off and on and changing the TV source.

Thanks worked great. On remote press tv button top left, press and hold select & red buttons until flashes twice, press tv button, enter code (0056 for LG), press tv then standby button then select. (May need to press tv then standby a few times, when off press select.

There's actual instructions on the inside of the sky remote battery cover thing, you just need to find out the 4 digit code, so once you know the code then take off the battery cover and the instructions are printed on the inside of cover.

Why could a TV remote turn on a TV when the remote is turned the other way shouldn't the infrared beam in the direction the remote is pointing?

Good question. Infra red can bounce around, especially off light coloured walls.

1695. 1755 and 1573 that i found online, but none of which work, the last one being the only one that causes the remote to flicker. Thsnks again however for the prior tv. Delighted.

You star! Finally got round to programming my Sainsbury's Celcus TV 18 months after updating my Sky box (code 1191 worked; can also try 1177, 1695, 0065)! The Sky manual had proved useless, and I couldn't find what I needed on their website so gave up. So glad I found you! Ta for clarification (earlier post, below) re meaning 'red button' when you say 'hold'; that one had initially thrown me (thinks: Where the hell's the 'hold' button??!)
NB - I was slightly freaked for a minute, as after running through your programming instructions I found I could turn the TV on and off using my Sky remote, but couldn't actually get any TV reception! Silly me - I had completely forgotten that we view Sky on our TV via its menu option for HDMI1 (dunno why; something to do with getting a lousy terrestrial signal here on the South Devon coast). All now sorted. Thank you! (BTW, you're no good at fixing crackly landline phones, are you??!!) :)

Could I also add that if the generic code given with the instructions doesn't work then go to Sky and find the exact code www.sky.com/help/program-your-remote As an example I have a panasonic tv and the generic code for a panasonic is 0051 but the actual code for my particular modes is 1664 so it is worth trying both codes if you have trouble getting a result with one of them.

I have a digihome tv. I went on to sky web page, typed in my rev code which you find near the batteries of your sky remote, then typed in my model of tv and it gave me a list of codes. My remote was rev 10 and the code was 1191 other codes were 3747 2704 2979. Just posting this as it may help some one else in the future.
