Is it normal for the Knees to hurt at first or should I just stop doing it..I do like how my legs feel after a workout. I feel like it really isolates the quads.
@@mr.flickyda-bean7221 Simple.. because the majority of the time beginners especially aren't getting enough time under tension to create the muscle hypertrophy that they're aiming for. I see plenty of people lifting a lot more than me but don't have the size, nor the definition that I have and they wanna know why. Just because you are moving weight from point A to point B doesn't always mean you are doing quality repetitions. Heavy weight for most exercises causes secondary, and other muscles to be unintentionally recruited, interfering with the contraction
I have just started going back to the gym after almost a 2 year break and have been mixing up my movements and have incorporated these into my routine. When I quit my max conventional squat was 345lb now its 225lb 😆. But I started doing hack squats and at the beginning I found them extremely hard... prob bc my foot placement was at the top. I reajusted to the mid point and am now doing a 45lb and 25lb plate on each side. Not great but alot better then the 25lb plate I started with.
When I try to place my feet lower on the platform to focus on quads my heels always lift up while at the bottom of the movement. I can't seem to avoid this no matter what I do. The only way I can keep my feet flat is if I place them high up on the platform. But that focuses on hams instead of quads.
@@azzamaddas7483 after watching the video again, my feed are placed similarly to his. His feet are not directly below his pelvis. But I have seen guys where their feet are directly in alignment with their hips below and I don't know how they're able to do that. That's impossible for me.
@@AdrienBCaldwell yea, that's an ankle mobility issue for sure. I had the exact same problem. Lots of kneesovertoes videos that helped me, and also, squat shoes made a huuuuuge impact for me. I like the adidas powerlift 4. Good luck.

Lol apologies for the mini series ... starting legs would you do just hack squats to start? or would you add in leg press as well? And just starting is one or both of these enough for a leg workout?
Awesome bro!! Appreciate the help legs are the only muscle I haven’t added to a routine yet do to medical reasons now I have a green light on that, so I am excited to dive in. Like the band trick love that, one question... I am starting this exercise to simulate a squat or prepare. You mentioned foot placement further up hams, further down quads. Drive through your heals never lifting because that is quad tendon.. and also I noticed your chuck Taylor’s would you grab a pair of these to keep your foot flatter closer displacement, is it worth buying lifting shoes like crossfitters? Most of my foot wear are basketball or over ankles.. but chucks for now be good?.: appreciate your feedback and I definitely subscribed and liked you went through things slow and I like that. Last question feet shoulder width? And do you want to force your knees out on the way down. Cheers and thanks again can’t wait to get started.
Wouldn't having a resistance band on only one side mean that the resistance is slightly higher on that particular side. Or is the difference negligible. TIA
The machine is connected on both sides. So it's practically one piece. Therefore the resistance is the same on both sides. For instance, if you put only 1 (45) plate on one side it would feel even on bothbsides.
@@leon-Furl0ng yeh he's technique doesn't work for everyone look at how Tom platz did hack squats or even Chris jones has a tutorial u should put allow your heels to come up and focus on pushing through your toes only on hack squats not normal squats
Is your lower back supposed to life from the bed? This tends to happen and I'm 99% its wrong. Also, is it normal for your back to arch so much that you can fit a small fist between the bed and my arched back?
My gyms Hacksquat rack has the foot plate angled forward rather 90 degrees from the direction of weight travel. Anyone know what that’s about? I know many of the kinds of racks allow you to change the floor plate angle but this on is fixed and at probably 95 or 100 degrees off the direction of travel.
I understand that there different variations of hack squats, but in regards to quad development would doing them like let’s say a Ton Platz ( feet placement low and on toes) would that be somewhat potentially dangerous?
Pretty good but just one thing is your hamstring is pretty much inactive in squat or squat like movements (like leg press) because it's not actually extending or contracting You need some movment like a Romanian deadlift and leg curl to hit the hamstrings fully
DONT GO ALL THE WAY DOWN. Going all the way down increases chances of wearing out the cartilage at the bottom of the patella and increase in patella tendinitis
Simple question dont workout 5 hours everyday 2 hours is ok dont push your self or else u are not going to grow rest is very important for muscle growth
Trash mainstream "RUclips university " advice. Doing as low as possible will work your inner leg and tear drop (medialis) which works super well anyways. It's the sweep that becomes disproportionate because of the advice like this

You can do the work with heavy weight.
Dropping the weight is the answer 90% of the time

Thanks for sharing the details

Thank you very much for your tips. They are very helpful and realized I've been doing them wrong for awhile.

That's still good! Hack Squats are hard!
Super duper great tips, I was mind blown by the band setup explanation
Great points regarding using the bands.
This guy gets it. One of the best tips I ever got was to get so ripped no one notices I'm bald... It's a real life hack
😭😭
once you get ripped then being bald becomes a cheat code tbh
You know what’s up M&S bringing Fouad to give the education
finally ive just been winging it and its a new movement for me. dont feel as weak knowing building quads on it is harder
Great Video and advice! Really liked the BAND tip!!!

Love the band. Makes a huge difference, much better than weights.
I have to try this hack squat thing. Because I simply refuse to do barbell back squats.
