Electronic music is some of the most varied and limitless music you can find! One of the beauties of electronic music is that you aren't bound to the physical barriers of dexterity and ergonomics, which is often a limitation with traditional instruments. It can be everything from 8-bit chiptune to incredibly organic, and is only limited by your experience with the tools and your imagination. :)
@Bryce Thibodeaux I understand what you're saying, and agree to your larger point (I play piano, guitar, and sing), but it's also possible to make electronic music and retain that human element. MIDI keyboards and the like allow for the same kind of human performance and expression if that's the goal, instead of looping and quantizing everything to death. Electronic elements and production can either be the whole thing, or just an ingredient in the overall pie. I'm a fan of hybrid styles that mix a bit of both.
@Bryce Thibodeaux Listen to Skrillex's early work. Rock n roll, scary monsters and nice sprites, etc. I think you'll hear possibilities. Bellissimo. Bellissimo.

The Empyrean is a fantastic record that helped me through some rough times. Among other things I lost my dog during that time. Now I have new music from John to look forward to through another battery of emotions. Thank You so much John one of the best!
Great comment, it's good to see that the Empyrean helped you. Its a special album that I dont think casual listeners will ever appreciate. I must admit that I got "shadows collide with people" first and I loved the style of that album so much that when I first picked up the Empyrean I didn't give it a second listen for a year or so. When I had troubled times I rediscovered the Empyrean and I felt like it soothed my mind to an extent, to me it was almost spiritual. Those two albums, released quite close to each other really show the diversity of his creative ambition. The more slickly produced "Shadows collide" replete with its splendid harmonies and laid back vibe certainly reflect that it was written around the time of the "By the way" album. The Empyrean by contrast was a deeper listening experience, religion, life and death and what life is. Its definitely not for everyone and that I think is its appeal to those that venerate it, it probably helped John writing it, and it has certainly helped many listeners cope with their lot in life.
@@Honorarkonsul1081 If you don't like the genre, that's fine. But this is by all means well-produced and written electronic music. Not everything he does is chili peppers rock.

1) This is a rad tune, esp the first part of the song re: the rythmic melodic placements on the "time sub division grid" 2) this is, presumably, at a fraction of any RHCP video's budget, light years more befitting to the song and inspirational from a creative director's view; 3) props to his patches on the DX7 synth and lastly 4) I love black cats and I love the fact that JF paid homage to his furry cosmonaut. RIP Maya!!! Best concept of JF's in a while. 100+!!!

I love how you can hear in his music that he doesn’t care what anyone thinks. He just does what he wants and I admire that. John is a very underestimated artist.
I hope John hasn’t stopped playing guitar... the man is a legend... one of the greatest.
Without John i wouldn't be sober now
holy shit, this is 90s at its peak. John is such a living legend.
I genuinely think John is the last musical genius alive. And I love how he shuns social media and the limelight. Still so cool.
Me dan ganas de llorar con el final, gracias John🌹
He got me into rock, if the album is like this I think that he'll get me into electonic music too
You're just extremely easy to manipulate I guess
@@johnnystardust9366 man he's Frusciante, I love him. Didn't like a single RHCP record without him
I really expected not to like this, boy was I sure proven wrong. This is sick
just curious, but why were you expecting not to like it? is it because of his more eclectic output in recent years? some of it is definitely challenging, but i've found some tracks i enjoy. guy's so deep. i def prefer his earlier solo efforts up to the late-2000's.
Totally agree this is really good 👍
@@southport65 I'd never really been more of a fan of the Trickfinger style of music, I preferred his other solo work more acoustic based. But when I heard this yesterday I found I was really enjoying it and I was just surprised by myself haha
Same here
This could be easily a track of crystal method or early prodigy i thinnk..!
This I so beautiful ! As someone who grew up in los Angeles. And was a huge part of the dance scene. And also a huge part of the Rick and roll scene and was always going back and forth. This is a perfect mixture of everything. I plucking love so much !! Chowwwwwww! Yas yes yes Yaz! Thank you John!
Rock not Rick ha!
This video is like a sequel to the past recedes video. Love to see the evolution. Love you John! You're a huge inspiration!
man, could you tell me if the synth at 4:20 is a tb-303?
@@kikerotamo i think its the dx7
it really is such a pleasure to see a new john video.
Incredible song and video!!! Congratulations!!! From Brazil 🇧🇷
Come to Brazil 🇧🇷
Loving that 303 at the end .. grow up on acid house . In the late 80s early 90s . Coming from london . Every one was into acid house breakbeats d&b early hiphop . Got into all the guitar stuff after .and john was my favourite . So really interesting to see john get it the other way round . Great tune . Bit of john melody, d&b ,breakbeat house ,than acid house at the end . Love to maya
Same here mate. So mental how he even got into our underground scene
It sounded like something coldcut would play
This might be John's best electronic release yet!
Foregrow was incredible too
This guy does every music genre.. just amazing man
Love the song and the video, good to see you back again in a music video, hermosa canción, un abrazo a maya! te amo frusciante, saludos auraT-09
meu john tá vivíssimo e mais bonito do que nunca
Johnzão, ladrão, roubou meu coração 🎶
Seriously that album was a journey
One of his best songs no doubt
The improvement that John has made with his electronic music since PBX is insane. It's so much better.
Agree
100%
i think pbs is simply more experimental, trashy, wacky
so the older stuff was even worse than this nonsens ? how is this even possible.
@@Honorarkonsul1081 If you don't like the genre, that's fine. But this is by all means well-produced and written electronic music. Not everything he does is chili peppers rock.
As a die hard Aphex twin fan, I approve this song.
For a rock musician, this is an amazing electronic music made by John. If I stumbled upon this on the radio or something, I might think it's a new track by Aphex or some other prominent IDM act or whatever. Truly exquisite.
it's good but very generic, like you said could be by anyone
More like inspired by Aphex..
@@mikenewbold1699 Yeah very generic. it could be any electronic act from the last 20 years to be honest
@@rodtaylor5476 inspired by UK garage and jungle, which he credits as his favorite genre
Sounds really good
Really want to see him collab with Thom Yorke
Agreed! I'd like to see him collaboration with Thom, massive attack, Sneaker Pimps, UNKLE, he would be perfect for any of them.
Wanted that for ages
Nice! I agree with all you suggested, tho in fairness, he could collab with Kermit the Frog and I would want to see that. John + Anyone/thing = YES.
Just have him feature on an Atom's for Peace track, that would be cool.
yes
Wow, I am so digging this. This vibe reminds of The Orb, Orbital, Front 242 and Future Sound Of London! Love it!!!
it is the most brain stimulating song out of all the songs I've ever listened to, and I've listened a lot. it got in the heart of my ADHD brain and stimulates me almost as well as medication could. dude. it's genius.
I can feel the love he had for her, rest in peace Maya.
What happend to maya?

Even though this is not my cup of tea when it comes to style of music, I have to say this is a beautifully done video and I enjoyed the beat! Bravo to Marci, John & Amalia 👏🏾👏🏾
John you make my life a lot better and thats not marketing its your music!!
Things doesn’t have to be as they’ve always been. Change scares but frees. This is weird and freeing. John’s creations has being part of my life since I recall myself as a little man. I really needed this in my life right now. Thanks John. :’)
I absolutely love this song and can't stop listening to it.
this is so good... his electronic style has evolved so much, i really hope he can see all the love he’s getting for this album because he needs to know that this is fucking amazing. i am blown away
this is beautiful i love this song!!!! maya was so marvelous, i think she'd love this one too :)
I find it amazing how with John you can tell it’s him straight away, guitar or electric, he has such a distinct sound that warms my heart with every song, we love you John ❤️
One of a greatest songs ive listened. This is it. John dont stop please. Maya is listening whole time
I never thought I would like something so different from the stuff I usually listen to but this release really made me feel something.
