Absolutely agree, Doug, thank you. I was there, camped at 9:15 and J through K, a large placed camp with people who really care to leave no trace. And we swept our scene down to the last tiny trace. But all the other veteran burners I spoke to shared my concern that the epic trash heap left behind will be radically out of step with the principle of Leave No Trace. Lotsa first-time burners, just leaving their stuck-to-the-ground tarps and tents, carpets and kit, likely a monumental mess. I trust the Org doesn't go BK as a consequence. But for me, I'm out, I'm done, this is a great time that is now quite obviously out of step with it's own stated values - and mine. Beyond the apocalyptic mess left behind, it's just not the same experience.

What a stunning location. When all this talk of "national emergency" emerged, my first thought was, but didn't people go there, expecting to stay a while anyway? This means there will be plenty of food and water. Some reports were talking about fuel shortages, but that didn't make sense either, because most peoples vehicles are stationary and people with generators planned to be there a while. It's the typical media overdramatising everything as usual. If they had their way, they would shut it all down.
I do have some criticisms of the wasteful nature of thousands of people driving to a desert and back home again, when there are so many people struggling, but that is another topic. The fact is, that this was not the apocalypse that it was made out to be.

This year for the first time he decided not to go. He told me today that many of the other, I think he called them "vendors" are thinking about calling it quits in the next five years. He said that it's unlikely that these vendors will be replaced and that Burning Man will go into a decline. He told me that the people at top making the money, or the new generation of "Burners" will be unlikely to sustain the generosity that he and his friends were able to give out of pocket to make it what it has become. Burning Man's best days may be behind it, time will tell.

MSM showed flooding in Las Vegas as the flooding the Burning Man festival was experiencing. It was then I knew they were making a mountain out of a mole hill. I wish they would spend their time on some investigative reporting about the Lahaina and East Palestine tragedies instead of fictionalizing them.

Shoutout to the volunteers who go back in after festivals to clean up because they really make it possible. Also don’t be shy about volunteering for festivals you enjoy because giving back to the community is important! ❤

Great content. Burning Man is not a festival. It's the 5th largest city in NV for 8 days. Also, it took 8 days to go from 15,555 people to 73,257 in Black Rock City. Then everyone wants to leave on the same day. The Gate, Perimeter & Exodus Crew are masters of getting everyone out safely. Join next year & help! Also, people spend weeks after the event making sure it remains the world's largest Leave No Trace event. Please read our survival guide before buying a ticket! See you in the dust.

haha yeah you explaining the situation from the view of the people there makes way more sense than the usual panic inducing mainstream media, it doesn't help that most of the information coming out of the city came from early leavers who "fled" from the rain, left all their trash and aren't real burners. I'm glad you still had the burn, and you all had a great time.
